Thanks a lot for this, I'm gonna bookmark them! I feel like I am having lots of trouble with anything that involves crouching.

Yeah just mess around in training with him as I said you don't have to do the EX and CA in those combos those are just there to showcase damage and options. Being able to convert off of cr.mp is very important to his overall game so you aren't just chaining lp>mp and lk>mk and jump ins for your openers all the time as those are predictable to opponents. Linking st.mp or b+mk off of cr.mp isn't as bad as you think as the game is rather lenient just delay your inputs by about a little less than a second when doing that.

Do you know if Ryu/Ken's DPs are invincible on startup? These guys give me hell, if their shoryukens arent invincible on wakeup then that b.HP could be pretty good to bait it, get a crush counter into legs and CA...

Thanks for the tip too

Yeah they are invincible, so if you think they might throw one out its better to just block/let them whiff it. It would be good to know some counter hit/crush counter combos so that you can get a max punish for an opponent's missed DP

Still getting a pitiful amount of matches... but at least I'm winning the Ranked ones. Somehow I've made it to a 7 win streak!

why not consider spending some zenny on colors when they become available for purchase in the store? :^)

I legit feel bad right now :/, someone did matchmaking ranked, and they didn't do anything in the match, guess they were away from keyboard or controller, as much as I want to win that just felt bad :/ and yes I did wait a reasonable amount of time too

Just won 25 ranked games in a row, going from 1874LP to 2449LP. One loss dropped me to 2383LP. Another two wins brought me up to 2403LP.

Gaining ~10-25LP per win and losing 65-100LP per loss. The struggle is real.

the streak is over. against a rashid that spammed the wall jump missile kick thing, had no idea how to deal with it. im not bitching about the spamming, whatever works, I just had no idea how to deal with it, never seen a rashid before lol

the last one I saw was in the beta where they added him. Maybe I'll give him a
spin
later tonight, not really my usual kind of character so I didn't give him a second thought.

I need to stop playing for so long time in a row. My brain melts after a while and I just do to much mistakes without focusing or trying to improve -.- Had like 2 wins 20 losses today in ranked lol.

Man I just have not been able to find my character this game =

I was a blanka player in sf4 and I miss defensive poking charge characters with a strong anti-air. Down back is my home.

So far I tried Laura for 3 or 4 hours and just wasn't feeling it. Her pokes didn't seem amazing and I wasn't really feeling the command grab mixup. I originally tried picking her up because I liked the v-skill movement options but it didn't end up feeling all that practical at my level and found myself just losing over and over to bad opponents.

I also tried out Necalli and I sort of like his moveset but I'm not really a full rush down kind of person. And I don't like how his moves feel sluggish on startup. Not saying he's slow but like the time it takes for his charge move to come out just bothers me every time.

Next I'm thinking of giving Chun a chance. I've got that pre-order costume at least...

Or maybe I just need Balrog to come out. Balrog save me.

I haven been a Blanka player my whole life, but I played him offensively. I've settled in in Rashid because of how fast he moves about the screen, and his awesome cross ups.

I just can't beat Bison with Mika. Anything I try to do after blocking his flip kick gets countered instantly. I can't do shit.

if he did it from mid screen with the HK version, it's safe. EX version even more so. I count on people pressing buttons after blocking that and almost always snag them with a cr.mp or even better st.HK crush counter.

if it's the weaker versions you can definitely punish it. I'm still in the habit of spamming lk scissors from the earlier betas and I eat a lot of damage as a result.

Hah thanks for the games kandrick back to camp I go! Nice to play a mirror match. Man freezing up and not knowing what to do sucks lol

Thanks for the games! Didn't know you played Karin too. I'm trying to pick her up having not played the Beta with her, it's been fun.

no idea what im doing with Birdie (as opposed to Gief who, even with differences, was similar enough to his SF4 version), but he seems fun. Won both casuals that popped up, but didnt really know what I was doing like I said :p

Just had a guy who nearly perfected me cause he would knock me in the air with Ryu's attack and then I would prep (stick held back) to block as I got up and the game would just let him hit me again.. This game sometimes...

The correct design decision for Survival would have been to have Easy be the 10 braindead opponents, normal start at match 11 and go to 30, and hard would start at 25 or 30 and go to 50. Haven't even tried Hell, but presumably applying the same logic would make it better.

If they didn't design it to be a complete drag on purpose to sell colors, then they are bafflingly incompetent.

This game has me torn. I can't play too much, maybe that's the problem, but I want to try all characters, and at the same time, I want to continue playing the one I'm playing now (Ryu) because I'm enjoying myself. Of course having to settle for a favorite character doesn't help here.

I think my next game will be as Zangief. I remember enjoying him a lot in the beta 3.

Even just having them all with 10 matches but increasingly
cheating
difficult AI it would be so much better. It is literally just a waste of time fighting 25 braindead CPUs, sitting through match end after power-up selection after loading screen only to lose it all in 20 seconds.

I really wish Training Mode had some sort of Combo training with on screen inputs.

Writing things down isn't nearly as handy as seeing where you are connecting and missing inputs.

And my second gripe, and probably my biggest, is that it feels like the game doesn't care with whom it pairs you with on ranked matches. From the 10 fights I've had today, half of those have been against 3500 something LP players, and I'm definitely not 3500 something LP material yet, so it feels unrewarding to lose against them. For reference, I'm usually at around 1000 LP.

Same thing keeps happening to me, I don't mind playing strong players sometimes but when 9/10 matches are against players multiple leagues above me I feel like it's hard to learn what my mistakes actually are (too busy getting my face smashed).

You can make inputs visible in the training options.

Yeah that would be great too. Better even. Make it hard, I don't care. Just don't waste my time. I got back into SF because I have so little time to play games that I need something intense and fun with no filler.

Turn on the inputs.

Set the dummy to block after the first hit. If he blocks you're going to slow, if the move doesn't come out you're going too fast.

Game is godlike, but the online itself is frustrating me for a bunch of reasons.

First off, when asked for my region, I put in Peru (because that's where I am from, obviously). But I don't know if it's because of that or my router's IP but I'm only getting matches with people that are either from Peru, Brazil, Argentina or Chile. My internet speed is pretty good, so that shouldn't be happening. I feel like I've gotten locked out from getting matches with the rest of the world.

And my second gripe, and probably my biggest, is that it feels like the game doesn't care with whom it pairs you with on ranked matches. So yeah, great gameplay, but the online is all over the place. I definitely didn't have this experience in the betas. What makes me anxious is reading the tweet from SFVserver saying that "there aren't any more online issues" when it's clearly worse than the beta was. I only hope it gets better.

they should cap it so you can only take on a player that has no more than 2 times your lp total, or just restrict to leagues

Necalli is actually an interesting character, been playing casuals with a friend and air kind of like his style. Don't know how to follow up Crush counter st.HK > st.HK > jab though.

Depends on your range, but you probably don't want to follow s.HK with s.HK unless you have VT available to cancel the second into more damage or you are literally at the max range. On a CC s.HK you have time to step forward into s.HP, which gives you some other options (s.HK CC, s.HP xx MK Stomp, cr.MP xx LP/EX Rush for example). If you are just inside the max range though (which you generally will be even when trying to space it for range) you can step forward into s.MK xx s.HK xx V-Skill target combo instead which gives you decent corner carry still and bonus V-Gauge.

That target combo is also what gives him that gross reset in the corner I mentioned earlier. If you do that in the corner (making sure you use near V-Skill so it actually hits) you can hit them with cr.LP or cr.LK before they hit the ground from the V-Skill and it will air reset them. You are at so much advantage while they are recovering in the air reset you can meaty them literally with whatever you want. If you use cr.LP you can cancel it directly into HK Stomp which times it to their landing frames (which is only -2 on block and if it hits will pop them up for either a DP or EX stomp follow-up), you can meaty s.HP (also safe) to go for cancel into MK Stomp, cr.MP xx LP/EX Rush, you can meaty cr.MK into LK/EX Stomp, command throw, meaty s.HK (which is a good fish attempt for a VT cancel into s.HP xx MK Stomp, cr.MP xx MP/EX Rush for huge damage), whatever. You can even meaty something like s.MP to safely try and combo back into MK target combo to loop it (or follow up the V-Skill pound into LP/EX DP before they hit the ground if it'll get you the kill/stun).

Yeah I never played her either during the beta but I've been enjoying my time with her today. Still trying to figure out her combos and get my execution down on my new stick.

Gotta say i've had a lot of fun with this game so far.

can you do anything off Birdie's wall-bounce command grab? the light kick chain grab thing

If you mean you wish they put the commands on the screen and you had to do them correctly, that mode is called Trials and it's coming in March supposedly.
