Street Fighter V |OT| No Options to Select

I don't really see why they have Ranked and Casual Matchmaking since the latter doesn't give you any Fight Money.

I thought it did?

Battle Lounges don't though which sucks, since once proper lobbies are in that's where I'd mainly want to play.

I have no idea what to do against a good Rashid.

As a Rashid player it's super easy if my opponent let's me get momentum, but I can have a hard time dealing with pressure. So basically, don't let him get control of the match.

His anti-air options aren't that good, his CR.MP has poor startup and his MP spinning mixer will trade or get beaten by most air to airs. EX spinning mixer is a decent anti air option but can often get beaten by normals and I've also been hit by cross ups, out of its startup. It's no where near a good DP.

So with that in mind, Rashid's weakness is pressure and it's important to not allow him to gain control of the match, be aggressive and shut him down, but be aware that he has a lot of options to approach you at the same time. Play it safe and try and get knock downs, using those as opportunities to apply pressure.

More basic tips would be aware of everything that's unsafe, and everything that gives you frame advantage .

Sweep is unsafe (punish with sweep or a mid ranged normal xx special)
Eagle spike is unsafe (you may need to dash forward to punish this with lp)
Overhead is unsafe (punish with a light combo)
All versions of the v-skill are unsafe

Spinning mixer is -2, so you can use this as an opportunity to take momentum (go for a throw or frametrap)
Forward MP is -2 so again, you can use this to take momentum

I can't go into more detail without referencing some data but that's what I'm aware of off the top of my head, hope it's helpful.

Damn I suck hard in this game, even with a fighting stick lol.

@Out
Plays well, but I have to adjust to it, so still need some practice with it.
GGs, even you won more often than me lol, you decimated me.

Lost my 69 game streak to a Bison player. I wish I ran into more players around my lp, now that my streak is gone there is no reward for beating players that I don't learn off of.

This idea that a stick makes you better at the game (or any fighting game) is baffling. If anything it makes you worse if you are not used to it :p

Well, it was the first time I fought a Ken that didn't spam shoryukens and hadoukens, so it was easier for me to get in with Mika. You playing with a stick for the first time probably also helped a lot. I can't imagine it to be easy for your first time.

So I have a two options regarding buying a PS4 stick, but I'm on the fence:

Option A - Buy the Chun Li TE2 stick from Fry's for MSRP and have it today.

Option B - Buy the TES+ stick from either Newegg or Madcatz and wait for it to be delivered in the mail.

I'd like to have the stick ASAP but it'll be about $30 more and the TE2 doesn't have the touchpad... which I can't see why I'd need. Do the + models have anything else that I may actually use that would make it worthwhile to wait? What would I even use the touchpad for?

If you open up anyone in this game that is even somewhat knowledgeable then you are a God.

My biggest issue playing as Karin today is I could not open up a single person. Knew my combos, anti airs, string, mix ups, yadda yadda, my block game is on point, but if the other guy knows how to constantly block and tech my throws, plus shuts down my chance to get in? Yeah I'm fucked.

I am thinking right now both Ken and Karin are not it for me. I need to keep on keeping on until Alex hits. I know he'll open people up. WHOOOO WAAAA!

Yeah, well that's true, never thought it would play that differently than on a gamepad, now I know for sure though.
Good to know, I'm not the spam type as you've noticed I also play fair not using the cheap tactics to get you cornered at the end of the stage, I always back oof so you can get a way to maneuver.

/sigh I wish the game would give me people in my point range. Lost to a fucking bronze dhalsim and there goes 113 LP. Hours of work gone.

Any Mika players that have consistent success with rushing down 1.5k lp or higher players? I just can't do it, it always devolve into me slowly walking forward because jumpins gets shoryuken'd, and dashes gets a boot in the face

why would you do that? the goal is to win!

Thought it was less. Neat. Best way to go about FM is to ignore it anyway. It will pile up. In a normal environment where everything worked fine, you would be playing so many matches you wouldnt even be thinking about it.

Its like gold in Heroes of the Storm. When you are obcessing about it to buy a character it seems like it takes ages. When you have no characters to buy that gold piles up fast.

SSFIV included 10 new characters and five new stages for $40, and nobody forced you to buy the retail versions of AE and Ultra.

So? That doesn't mean I actually cared about the method, so please do not give me the whole "oh, you don't have to buy it" routine. That's getting old.

Sorry if this has been asked but where do you enter your code for a preorder costume? I've spent 10 minutes looking. I'm probably blind lol

What platform?

In terms of value for money, I don't really see much difference between the old release method and the new one besides an ability to purchase things a la carte and the possibility of grinding out characters for no money if you play online a lot. But then again, I prefer to have all the characters anyway so I guess value is subjective here. And let's not pretend the service game format and its dependency on an internet connection doesn't have its own issues.

Welp I've unlocked all the colors for all the characters. Ended up with 650k fight money. Glad I decided to hold off on the season pass.

my 8 wins streak just ended to a dhalsim who had 0lp :(

But he was pretty good, I don't understand how he only had 0lp. He knew some of those dirty dhalsim techs

edit: lol nvm, failed to send to server. poor guy

Oh dang, I was thinking about buying the season pass, but if I don't care for the costumes, you can buy all the characters by doing all single player content. Interesting

Probably played a bunch of SFIV and the SFV Betas.

I'm looking forward to those guys getting ranked up. 😀
