Managed to finally have a go of this game ... in an arcade.

Heart of Gaming Arcade in London has 4 dedicated 2 player converted arcade machines running this, think there is a tounament this weekend.

Thought the graphics - mainly the backgrounds were pretty nice, I especially loved the stage with the train on it (I love fighting stages with trains!)

From a distance though, I had trouble discerning this game visually from SF4, up close you could see the difference - to a degree, but as I never really liked the art of SF4, I'm still not won over by the looks, just seems that they upped the res and smudged some dirt onto faces.

Playing the game of course (the important thing), made me want to pick up a PS4, because being a bit old school, I had no idea what I was doing, and there seems to be so much to learn.

I am an old codger (as mentioned), so soon made my way back to the old Versus cabs to carry on playing (and get my arse kicked just as badly) on some 3S and Super Turbo. I tell you though, swiching between ST, 3S and SF5 is really jarring!

Someone mentioned something to me today, and I can't help but think that there is some truth to it.

All each new iteration of Street Fighter since ST really does, is, dilute your character in every progression.

Anyone want to do some scrub matches with me while I try to learn how to play anyone who's not Rashid? CFN: SevenAngryLemurs, Password is 1111.

In Ultra he was on PC though and was mostly just a bot with everything scripted in. He showed up on Mike's stream a few times and caused a ruckus, was fun times.

Mike has it out for him over all that stuff lol

Oh shit Mike has met him before? Is there video of this?

It would truly be a perfect world if we could all just take turns in fighting games.

What's the best wakeup strategy against Ryu/Ken using Nash/Bison? Anytime I try do anything on wakeup I either get grabbed or shoryuken'd.

Nash has more trouble pushing people back than usual. If you have vtrigger, use it. You could just tech on reaction or block and backdash if you can train them to do a DP and punish.

You have to stop sweating it, dog, it's not you. It's CFN. Some games take unreasonably long to load and, in my experience, that happens on both platforms.

Just an FYI, but I'm on my second PS4. My first one had an issue. At some point near the end when I stopped playing Destiny, it'd take FOREVER to load into maps / Crucible.

Then when Division Beta came out, it took forever to load and wouldn't load while I ran around. My teammates would run and I'd slow down, loading textures, or even fall through the world. At the same time, SF V beta was up, and the white screen would last forever.

A new PS4 fixed all of it. So now I think it was the old ones hard drive or RAM /shrug.

Anyone around to Lobby? CFN: Bizazedo, I use Bison.

If they're DP happy, just bait and block the attack. Once you get them to respect you, frametrap them with any normal of your liking.

At this rate with the kind of reception the game has got us early adopters might be the only thing this game gets unless a bunch of people on Steam reverse their reviews lol.

Well, the largest portion of the userbase has never been on PC, and user reviews aren't typically very highly regarded. So I doubt it the 'mixed' rating will be especially consequential to the games long-term performance.

Critical reviews position the game fairly well, and I anticipate that we will see reiterations at the end of the year, with a new bout of headlines and reviews. Capcom are better at promoting and supporting their games long-term now, and I believe SFV will be a good example of that.

Not that this necessarily makes this the best experience for consumers, but I think this game is going to have a good amount of hype surrounding it for the rest of the year.

Wait...

Is that a real human being or not? I am legit confused here.

Did you watch the SF5 one Bomb? :p

It's a bot that a human can control

For maximum efficiency.

Man and Machine working as one

That explains why he let Mike when then. I guess the bit does its thing but he can take control whenever he wants?

The game already dropped off the top 10 best sellers. Thats very fast for a new triple a release, clearly the backlash is working against it. Thankfully there's crossplay, and also im sure the game will do well in sales anyway. Like 50% in the summer sale, by then new modes have been out and that story mode and shit, im sure it wil get a nice boost on PC.

Finally kinda getting Nash's flow now.

Can one of you monsters critique my play? I know I can do much better.

That guy you played has such a basic Nash, and a 35 wins streak? What the hell.

Yeah but what I mean is, the SF community playing on PC has always been very small, and as this iteration is on only one console, and all tournaments will be running PS4 not PC setups, you can anticipate the dominant volume of sales to be on PS4.

How many fighting games have even came close to dominating the charts on PC?

Ugh, lounges being only for 2 people is really dampening my hype.

I need to really get my ass kicked repeatedly by good players to improve, and playing different qualities all the time in ranked is screwing me up.

I'm such a scrub

Ill play if you are still around.

Gotta say that I adore Capcom for making Chun's legs a quarter-circle. Always dug her, but my scrubby self could just never wrap my head around pianoing. She's clicking for me in V though and I'm loving it.

Just had my first rage quit from a Cammy in ranked too. Jumped in and ate an EX SBK and I guess he didn't think I'd do it again, so he jumped in again and ate another. Both amused and annoyed. Can't wait for them to add a penalty.

Oh my god finally :D

Time to retire from ranked for a few days. I want to play some other characters other than Karin lol

Let's just all sit back for a second and realize how amazing this game is. I'll admit that it launched with less than ideal circumstances, but when I'm actually playing a friend online, or at home, I'm having an amazing experience.

I'm not all that good, but you play pretty well with your rushdown style. I'd say stop letting them do what they want when they break your flow and don't let them get going. And I saw you trying to train him to do stupid shit at the end, which sometimes worked, but you should be a little less obvious. Empty jumping three times will get you knocked down in later, more tense rounds.
