Just fought what I felt like was a Bison bot. Same strategy over and over again.

Jump - > heavy kick -> slide kick thing he does.

Over and over and over.

Disconnected as I hit him to win the match.

It's because LP is not the internal measurement of your skill. Like most ranked games, SFV employs a hidden MMR system. Your LP gain/loss is based on who the algorithm predicts will win, and with what odds.

Then LP is pointless. Seems like a dumb system then
Necalli's dash up, command grab is 2 frames faster than Ibuki's overhead in USF4.

His dash up, cLP is only 1 frame slower than Ryu's overhead in USF4.

Necalli is fast.
Is that with or without his v-trigger active?

actually just got into a random battle lounge and played a match.

then the next 3 I tried failed to join. Like...whut >_> If I can get matches via matchmaking (albeit slowly most times), and apparently I can get the odd battle lounge, that cant be on me right? That has to be on Capcom? :/

Let's hope tomorrow maintenance will fix it...

Let's hope March update will fix it...

Let's hope June update will fix it...

Let's hope...

It's not at all. SC2 uses this same type of ranking system, and it works quite well. LP gives you an ok representation of your progress and something to work towards while the MMR system stabilizes uncertainty values. If you're ever curious as to how and why this is implemented, there are some great guides on TeamLiquid about MMR + Sigma and ranking thresholds.

I`ve won my first online match earlier. Took me 5 matches to achieve this. After playing it offline and trying a few online matches, I still feel like the ultimate street fighter noob. The time between online matches is too long, to train really efficiently. I can see improvements, but still I would say it is kind of hard to get into it.

This makes perfect sense?

You gain less points if you beat someone below you.
He gets more points since he beat someone better.

It's how pretty much all ranking in sports etc works.

Pretty much this. This attitude of "I don't understand this, thus it sucks and is stupid" is not a good one to have, especially going into a game like SFV.
It's the same, his V-Trigger doesn't change his frame data at all. It only boosts his damage and his dash distance, and gets rid of the charge time on his specials when canceling.
The frame data on his stomps and v-skill is definitely different. Not sure if all his specials are better or if its just those 2 moves.
Do you unlock anything for survival hell mode?
A color, a trophy / achievement, and some fight money.

It doesn't make sense when you consider the the amount lost/won by the other guy is the same or close to what I win/lose.

Basically winning/losing agains't someone that's x amount of lp higher/lower than you can vary wildly even if those matches all had the same lp difference between the two players.

meh first match with lag, so many teleports (against Bison too, which is fitting I guess)

the loss streak is real now

Who is Mike Ross? Well known tourney player or something? I'm new to the SF scene.

one of the most likeable, funniest guys in the FGC

How can I punish Necalli after his go to ground combo where he stomps his feet real hard? Feel like the only thing I can actually get out is a jab. Anything slower and I get crush countered or hit by a medium attack

Right, because the computer used maths to calculate the probability of winning. This confuses the fuck out of people even though the information in TrueSkill is all out there. Even if it wasn't giving you point, that would still be in the background as it's how ranked matchmaking gets down (although possibly broken right now)

they have more serious things to fix before worrying about punishment for disconects unfortunately
They can implement a dc penalty and work out the server issues at the same time

Hell they can just go for a simple LP penalty like in IV until they get a more elaborate system up and running, anything is better than the total shitshow that is current matchmaking

Perhaps they don't know how to do it at the same time ? Dont be too hard on them.

Sometimes it's hard to pull yourself out of a loss streak. Usually I turn off the game and return a while later.

That has at times turned a loss streak into a 6+ win streak for me.

It doesn't? His VT was supposed to give him some extra hitstun on some moves, like I don't think sMP links into itself out of VT
