It's lame but I wouldn't read that much into it. They probably decided to just stop saying it would be up in an hour and missing that target. I'd be shocked if they didn't get it back online sometime tonight. I have time to play tomorrow evening, and I'm watching basketball tonight anyway, so as long as they're up and working well finally when I get home tomorrow evening I'll be pleased.
 
It's amazing how SFV and Kanye's latest album have mirrored each other in the early access, development hell, server-crashing, season pass shenanigans, all in a very similar timeframe too.
 
I think their fix is to actually drive people away from the game so that there's less load on the servers. This is hilarious and the title change got me hard lol.

It's more likely that their post-patch QA testing keeps failing, and they're trying to figure out what introduced the bugs.
When performing a patch like this, there comes a point when you have to stop rushing things, as it leads to more mistakes. This is likely why they removed the deadline.


Their PR and communications skills could use a serious rework, though. Whoever runs that twitter account should be fired.

They are not going to get fired for this. They get fed the info as much as anybody else.
 
Man what an absolute shitshow. How do you botch such a high profile release from nearly every possible vantage point? I think we need some sort of investigative report from Jason Schreier because this is an incredible embarrassment. This and Arkham Knight on PC are the two biggest fuckups I've seen this generation. They BETTER have something to make up fro this shit.

Capcom thanks you for supporting this early access release. Your feedback will be appreciated for whenever it leaves pre-alpha.
 
I got Diablo 3 a few months after launch, so I didn't have to go through the infamous launch period, where the game was literally unplayable because of error 53 - for those who don't know, there is no offline mode of any kind on D3 for PC: if the servers are down, you can't play, period. Looks like SF5 is giving me a taste of what that must have felt like.

Not exactly surprised though, but I hope this means matchmaking and overall online performance will have improved dramatically when the servers are up again, and/or that we will get some sort of Fight Money compensation. 100k FM would be nice. It would effectively mean one free character, or a few costumes.

Props to them for just outright saying it instead of doing one hour increments, but for real WHAT THE HELL?

I see this a lot. What do you think the betas were for? They were for balance, not network testing. They had small groups of players from preorders and only for a weekend at a time. And even then, they reset the servers regularly.

I'm not defending the delay, but the betas weren't stress tests.

This is amazing how we can't even do survival mode since we can't get that fight money. Right now we're all like Balrog, worried about our fight money.

Bruh, the betas didn't even have the latest version of the game most of the time. Of course they were stress tests.
 
The twitter responses to the indefinite downtime is hilarious.

I'd be okay if they lost the ranking data so we all start from fresh, I'll be sure pissed if they lose my fight money though.

Been up since 5am, taught 10th graders all day, just got out of grad school, waiting for my bus home. STREET FIGHTER SHALL BE PLAYED!!!

Edit: Ohhhh shit. Just caught up with the posts. TRAINING MODE SHALL BE PLAYED!!!
