Høly shit, really? It has a long startup though iirc, but it has decent range. Definitely gonna experiment with this.

Yeah. It's not fast (23f) and is -4 on block, but the amount of pushback means you can't even DP it on block with a 3f DP. It's very hard to punish, moves well forward too. One thing to be mindful of is that you don't have combo opportunities off a df.HP CC because of that same pushback; you can basically just get either LP Disc or CA (you can VT before doing either of these if you need to). If you are at point blank range when you hit with it, you can also VT, cr.MK xx EX Disc or EX Valiant.

Ladder anxiety...haven't felt that since StarCraft 2 lol.

Yesterday I was so scared of losing ultra bronze I just played casuals >>

But I need to do that anyway, no point playing ranked right now when I don't even know how to fight 50% of the cast I barely see like FANG, Mika, not enough Karin's..

Just get ranked down then it's no big deal.

So I sat down today, after having a meeting with my supervisor cancelled, thinking I'd just play a couple of games and get my LP up to 1400 (from 1350 or so).

Not very far, shouldn't be very hard, as I haven't been losing a lot so far.

I win a game against someone of equal rank, gain 35 points, then I bump into a Vega with 2700 LP. He beats me, I lose 55 points. Alright, whatever, carry on. I beat a Ryu, 2900 LP, fireballs and footsies. He disconnects.

Back and forth with this bullshit for 15 matches.

I finish with 1420 points. Success! After 12 wins (8 of which where my opponent disconnected) and 4 losses.

My fiance was watching me play this set of games and she could see me getting frustrated with it. We were both sat on the edge of our seats anticipating the disconnect whenever an opponent got supered, or it came close to the end of round.

One of the guys even got a free round on me, as my controller disconnected, and he still disconnected at the end during my super on round 3, good lord, Capcom please fix this. It's completely killing ranked play, so many frauds with so many points!

Thanks. Seems like more of a footsies tool for fishing for counterhits and overheads.

Did the exact same thing haha, I aint leaving casuals until I git gud with Necalli.

Are there any high level players using him seriously at the moment? It seems like Necalli is the popular choice for new characters at the moment.

Really? I got the impression that was nash.

capcom releases basis character vids for everyone, Kens went up recently where it shows you all the uses for his moves and combos.
http://youtu.be/TN0-KKAAx0I

I'm also a a Ken player if you want to add me. OmniCloud

Just what I was looking for this is great! Will probably end up watching all of them at some point. Even if I don't play the characters it's good to know what they are capable of so I know how to better counter them. I also want to try out some other characters once I feel decent with Ken so these will work great as starting guides. Thanks!

I'll see If I can add you once I get home.

Is there anyway to make the dummy guard as soon as he does the recorded move? I know you can record guard manually but if he doesn't complete the first recorded action (attack) he won't start the second (guard) and I plan to practice punishing after using an anti-air.

Any solution?

That's amazing :D

Any european Necalli or Rashid players up for some matches? I really need to practice those matchups. I am ~1000 LP Karin.

Created a lounge with the password 6657 feel free to join if you play other characters as well though. I would also appreciate some tips for those matchups in general.

I probably won't have time to play today, but if you want a Necalli (or Chun-Li) to practice with, then I'll gladly fight you some other time. I'm also around 1k LP. CFN / Steam username is Monochromatism, link in profile.

Don't be hating son...

But seriously Ryu and Ken are really good here, but requires high level to win with. Neither of them have gimmicks. I think Vega or Chun will win, but Momochi will place if he plays with Ken.

Vega without his claw is just sick though. I think Bison may intimidate more than anything, he doesn't have that a good a wake up so once you get him down, u can bully him. Really can't call Evo at all, really balanced game. And Laura seems to be limited only by the players potential to outwit the opponent she deals massive damage!

Can't wait to watch the pros honestly.

I always choke on the third round or always forget to parry/counter cross ups. I hate it. That's why I'm still within the bronze/silver bronze league.

I'll never give up.

Rashid has a decent zoning game himself right? Use that more, he's not pure rush down but seems to be a decent all-around character IMO. Anyway the Rashids that beat me usually did so with frame traps, and a few tricky wall bounce mixups, go to the lab and see what's Rashids frame trap setups and go from there. You really shouldn't be all about Rushdown though, you can back up a little and bait a DP every now and then.

C. HP safe on block
Round house safe on block
Stand MP & HP safe on block and MP leaves you at +
And using his wall jump in the corner can be tricky and confusing to block against

I mean I do try, but I don't know any good counterhit frametrap setups that really lead into anything.

cr.lp, cr.lp, cr.mk / mk is one I use, it stuffs anything except DPs, but it's only as good as them pressing buttons.

I can cancel the MK into tornado shot from MK, and if I vary that between light tornado, heavy tornado, and heavy tornado cancelled into roll and grab / frametrap (st.mp) then I can get some stuff going.

Characters like Nash and Ryu have really solid normals that they can fish for counterhits with (e.g. Ryu's cr.mp which can lead into another cr.mp, then into super, ex fireball or perhaps tatsu) but I can't seem to get anything going like that with Rashid. Maybe I need to hit the lab and figure out what my frametrap option are.

I watch Floe and Wong play Rashid and they just go crazy, mostly on bad opponents, and while that works, 90% of it is beaten by DP. You are right that I don't have to play rush down, but I just feel like Ryu / Ken's midscreen / footsie game is a lot stronger, especially for Ryu, as his cr.mk is a great poke and the follow up fireball offers a solid frametrap. Rashid doesn't have the same range on anything cancellable.

Thanks. Seems like more of a footsies tool for fishing for counterhits and overheads.

Actually I take it back I'm pretty sure it doesn't push back far enough to avoid 3f and maybe even 4f reversals depending on the reach. Still, it's not easy to punish on reaction at all.

Welp It seems I can no longer trick the game to using my dedicated gpu, so I can't play until Capcom fixes its issue with nvidia optimum. Soon ™.

What's your CFN? I'm a Rashid and I'll play you. My CFN is the same as my ID here, which is also, the same as my PSN.

My brain turns off fighting Laura, many times I honestly have no fucking idea what to do on wakeup when they use her projectile + dash up throw or command grab.

Feels like LP gains/losses are way harsh too early on, like I'm around 1500 and lose 50-60 against 3k players while only gaining about 30 from an equal opponent. And there's what, 15 leagues? You already need a crazy winrate to get out of the low ranks. Though maybe that's me being a Dota guy where >70% winrates are much less common than in fighting games at similar skill gaps.

Man, I'm playing so halfassed right now, can't get myself fired up and serious at all. Lost like 500 lp in an hour lol

I had the same complaint/pondering about the lp system. People just told me it makes sense because there's a hidden skill rating system

It doesn't make sense, the system in SF4 however made sense as it made it naturally harder to get high ranks with the need to have a hidden calculator running

Find Infiltration videos.

His Nash is so good. Like, as a Nash main, watching him play always inspires me to get back in the lab
and try to steal some of the tech I just saw him using...I mean what? Nothing to see here, move along!
Infiltration is probably my favorite pro to watch anyway, so the fact that we main the same character has just been so useful to me this game. I have a little document in my google docs that's full of combos, theories, observances, ect. related to things I've seen pros do with Nash and a good 80% of them come from Infiltration vids.

Man, I can't wait for my move to be over so I can finally get my fightstick out of storage. Playing with a controller is driving me nuts.

Edit: Just realized I said Infiltration mains Nash. Given that we're talking about Infiltration and it's super early days, that is not guaranteed at all. I'm sure Infiltration will once again main everybody.

I'm not even touching ranked until Capcom addresses the ragequitting issue. I just play casual matches, still get fight money and there's not much incentive to ragequit there.

I can't get fired up until Alex hits. No one truly clicks with me in this cast right now. Which sucks, because all I'm doing is frustrating myself lol. I should've bought the game and kept it to till he hits so I'm all jacked up to play.
