How do I get over my fear of playing ranked

I did okay the last time I played but I've been busy this past week and now I'm afraid I'm going to get mauled

Got to Bronze as Gief! first night of playing online after the launch, cause I was on vacation until yesterday.

Man, playing Zangief means walking forward a lot. The only times I was on the defensive was against some very aggressive Cammies, and a few times against some Karins.

People just see Zangief and start backpedaling, without knowing I am terrible at this game.

Hilariously, I got to Bronze, decided to turn off the PS4 for the night and go to bed on a high note, and was challenged and promptly beaten. And dropped in rank.

The next fight I won with a perfect and a CA ("muscle power for you!") but the asshole disconnected. Maybe I pushed him too hard.

After that it took another hour to take me back to bronze. Man, getting a new battle takes a ton of time. I blame the scene of both fighters with the world behind and all the stats.

Just play. When I started with fighting games with sf4 I lost every single one of my first 100 matches. Losing and realizing what you did wrong is part of the game. Eventually you will start winning.

Laura is not easy to play with against good players so God speed. But if you're good with her then stick with it. I like to experiment with everyone. You never know who will click with you.

I'm thinking about it. I really like playing Cammy but a losing streak I was on yesterday that continued on into today really made me bitter about playing her any longer lol

Just play it. Realize you're just getting imaginary internet points that mean nothing at all and enjoy fighting other players online. I understand that it can be tough, but that's the truth of it.

What do Ryus do against Nash moonassault and Claw barcelona?

I can see it coming from miles but not sure of the appropriate action.

Or maybe I take a scrubby Nash to spam it in ranked and see what people do.

48 ranked guy on the leaderboards (Lord_Float) is a rage-quitting Nash with a 20+ win streak.

Like, bruh, what are you even doing at that point? You're long finished with trophy-whoring when you're at 5000+ LP. Why not drop a few leagues and get easier wins and thus easier fight money? That stuff is actually worth something. >_>

Well, I'm hovering right around 1000 LP and it feels just about right. Dudes with 1500+ kick my ass and dudes with 500 are easy.

Gotta get my execution together to reach the next level.

I'm not very good either and win maybe 1 out of every 4 games, but I realized that win/loss doesn't matter as long as you're just trying to improve

Considering you get 10k FM per character story to go towards unlocking a 40k Story Costume...

How does 5-10k per Costume Color sound?

I still don't get why they're going with those prices. It's just utter insanity to make the game feel even more of a pointless grind. The survival mode alone is going to cause people to commit suicide over the money that's available there and the numerous bullshit to get it.

I don't think Capcom understands their market, or if they do, wants to give them this ultimately carrot to work towards while trying to punish them with so many other things in their way.

The whole Fight Money thing feels slapped together and poorly thought out.

For Nash, Uppercut it or jump up into it and air-to-air it. You can hit him out of it. Don't block it. I try not to and react to it.

The best way to think about it, is that the LP you have is the past and all that truly matters is the present and the future you intend to build with it.
If you just sit on the existing LP that you already have then you as a player will slowly degrade and that LP will be meaningless as you will no longer have the skill to attain it as you once did, but, if you risk it all to fight and learn then you will improve as a fighter and you can not only reclaim any potentially lost LP but climb higher still.

At the end of the day what you really want is skill, not points. Points are shackled to your account and ultimately fleeting should you ever move on to another fighter in the future, but the skills you learn from these fights? These can stay with you, no matter what PC/PS4 you play on and they can always earn you points anew. Not only that but the skills you learn can help you in future fighting games and maybe even help you outside of just the fighting genre. Remember... the real reward here is personal improvement, not arbitrary numbers. We've got cookie clicker for those :3

Go for light kick into light running command grab. It works everytime 90% of the time.

Man bad rollback in this game is worse than anything I've ever seen online. Wish this 4-5 connection search setting would actually fucking work instead of giving me half matches of teleporting Mikas and Ryus.

Now this is pretty cool, all they have to do now is have Ken use the proper super move

I was here forever till tonight. What helped me break thru was realizing what moves I was doing were getting easily punished, and just sticking in training mode and training myself how to read an opponent so I was able to block better. Just a tip but it really helped me tonight make it from that Bronze/Super Bronze Level to Ultra Bronze.

If you see the name "CookiesNPushups" quit instantly. The absolute worst fucking connection I have ever seen....teleporting is an understatement. Slideshow is accurate. Fucking trash.

Nash harassment is tough man. His jump is so fast that even if I can pin him down in neutral there's really no reason for them to ever stop jumping. They aren't eating huge damage being anti aired and get so much off of just one good jump.

I honestly don't think they could have made survival mode worse if they tried. Why is 1-25 on normal like a 1 CPU, while 28-30 is max?

You figured out a good way to punish his backhand at max distance?

Yea, his jump his fast, missed DP motion and I am eating a good chunk of damage, hehe. His crossup kick seems to really "stick" as well.

Meaning what exactly? Fellow Gief player. Facing nothing but Ryu and Ken tonight.

Just that. If they block the light kick, they'll be slow to react to the kick version of the command grab. Or they jump and you air grab them.

The kick version as opposed to a regular command grab because it carries them to the corner, where you can bully, And it's also safer since if the kick hits, the grab won't whiff.

fchamp gonna take revenge on a ragequitter on behalf of all honourable online sfv players by money matching wolfkrone at final round for $500.
Wolfkrone ‏@WOLFKRONE 25m
Its on!!! @fchampryan 1st to 10 for five hundred ($500) at Final Round 19

Good god nothing gets me saltier than losing a close match when it lags.

Ugh. Such a tense moment ruined.

Edit:...and a rage quitter just stole my win to get back to super bronze.

LOL I'm reading this guy's bragging on another forum about how he cheated and RQ'd his way to the Gold league for a 30+ streak.

...like why? Congratulations. You cheated your way to a division way out of your class and abilities so any ranked match up is likely going to result in getting bodied. I mean are you just gonna RQ for every ranked match now? lol

Took my training mode only Sim to ranked for the first time and was kinda getting my ass kicked for a good while. I fought people on my friends list who I know to be good players and did pretty good but that couldn't prepare me for the chaos and randomness of low rank online warriors. At least I'm kind of adjusting, for better or worse.

I don't know which of Laura's moves are worse. Her EX elbow or her v-skill overhead.

Man ranked is pissing me off tonight. I gotta stop. I don't mind getting beat, but losing to the wifi-warriors's online tactics hurts the soul.

Slide or ex scissors can punish it. Some matchups in this game for better or worse are just slugfests. 'Ok he's down? no meter? BUTTONS!'.

I hope Capcom gets strict with the punishment for the RQs whenever they put in the feature (hopefully in the March update). Like taking away points and banning players from online for days, even up to a week in the extreme cases.

Third time playing survival tonight, third time bullshit. Literally one hit from winning on level 30, lose.

Fuck this shit my time is worth more than that.

You haven't known rage until you've run into 42 Laura on hard. CPU just straight makes shit up.
