It's amazing how fast people adapt to tactics (Laura user here). Last night I was on a roll went from 1300 to 1600+, then I started getting paired up with 2200+ players... lost a bunch of points, went down to 1100... Almost quit for the night, changed up my tactics and got back to 1600.
Side note: Ending matches with a crush counter is one of the most satisfying feelings I've had.

Ended a Chun-Li's 6 game win streak. Feels good.
Thanks. Lost two games in a row to Nash players. Still new so I didn't know that, so this will help out a lot.
If you space it out correctly it is only possible to punish it with Super for most chars.

If you space it well, you might get away with it, but if you're spamming and not getting punished, that person deserves every hit.
It's -8 on block, very unsafe.

Does anyone know how unlocking character specific fight titles work? Is it by wins?
If there's a rematch option, you try until you get yourself/your bot. You could probably get yourself after 10 tries or so. I mean, I've been matched up with the same person three times in a row in ranked just because we searched at the same time. There are definitely fewer in casual.

Hope it was the one who rage quit on me to protect his 5 match win streak.
They're by character level, I think. Someone mentioned you get one at character level 30. There's also one from Hell difficulty Survival for each character, and the Volcanic edition ones which are JP exclusive at the moment.

A Rashid with 16 wins just ragequit on me in ranked as my CA was executing to finish the match. Something has to be done to punish these players.
Ah. Well good to know that I won't just throw it too recklessly. Did it over and over again on Cammy at a decent distance and never got punished at all. Got even one Rashid down with it just now. Feels super dirty to win people by spamming special over and over again.

What, farming?
Players farmed PP in SF4 all the time. The top of that leaderboard is filled with people with an absurd, impossible amount of points by abusing this method. There was no real reason to care about PP other than bragging rights, too. So what do you think they'll do for actual in-game currency?
Capcom had to be very careful about farming in this game because wins award XP and XP awards FM. That's why you can never have a mode that both offers FM and has a rematch option.

I love that move with Nash though, great anti air and punish someone with the EX is quite satisfying.
The best: the fight is going to its end...the other user is helplessly taking distance to survive.

Someone was wondering why there's no rematch option in casual. There's no rematch option because casual awards XP and FM. Rematch makes it possible to farm FM.
Oh. Seems like putting a Wiimote on A and setting Rapid Fire to on would do the same thing, lol.

Nah this one was wearing the regular outfit. I fought one wearing that outfit and they got me fair and square.

I've been playing Gief lately with a few people from my area and HOLY SHIT, why did no one tell me how good he is? This dude rewards good reads so damn much.
Farming I've heard of. Never heard of getting yourself in the match and working it that way.
Pretty sure evo did ban ps3 sticks, at least through the functionality of SF5. You can use a converter if you like.
The caveats are that you have to have a DS4 synced with your ps3 stick, and people report that it introduces a bit of input lag (though I'm not sure any tests have been done?).
PS3 sticks work on PS4, though some say the driver support for it is botched and adds input lag. Don't see hard numbers though. It's a little more work to get working, but an extra few seconds never hurt anyone.

Well non-supervised farming of XP (and as a result of the level up, FM) is still possible the way the game is setup right now. As it stands right now, people can set the game up in a way that setting the controller to keep on pressing x will have them earning xp even while away from the console (as losing a match still gives you xp). But yeah, I suppose capcom's okay with that as the rate of FM gained via XP slows down as you level up.
Super serious question:
When you pronounce "Gief" do you pronounce it "Geef" or "Gee-eff" or God forbid "Jeef"?

True, but when you win with Gief, you FEEL like you earned that victory.
You're like 2 or 3 button clicks after hitting the PS button from ensuring you don't get that loss...

I was mucking around in training when I realised I left the rank game option on. I quickly go to settings and turn it off, thinking phew.
The I get the message "another fight is coming your way and its red"!!!! Fuck me. I lost. My coordination is shit cause I'm drunk.
I then got bak to the settings to make sure ranked game search is off. Nek minut another ranked game comes along! Fuck me again, I lose again and this time drop down below 1000lp and down a grade.
