Hey, I know I said this in the FGW thread but it probably was missed since that thread was moving during Daigo's stream but you want to run another set later? I want to explore the matchup of Fang vs. Ryu a bit more, since I'm still learning of all Fang's tools. Though I need to be somewhere late afternoon, so I guess whenever it's not then is cool with me.

Sure, it's one of those match ups that I need to learn more about because the character still confuses the hell out of me.

That feeling when you've been practising all afternoon and doing pretty well, but when it comes to mini-tournament time, you job out all three matches in a row with fingers of jelly.
Were a mini-tournament held in here?

On the two days I didn't check in here. :(

the amount of times i get hit by the ryu super is ridiculous. im not sure if they are mashing it and get lucky or what

Yeah it's really easy to combo into his CA, even by just mashing.

I sware sometimes it looks like they are trying to just srk or something. but hey its on me getting hit

edit: 3 ryus in a row, good lord.

SF4 on PC had amazing costumes mods

Yep one of my favorites

I have to assume Dhalsim is gonna get destroyed by the nerf-stick.

He has a few really advantageous matchups but he's not too bad. Only nerf I'd like to see is his Yoga Flame being actually punishable on block if you lack a super. That's really it.

nooooooooooooooooo accepted a 1 bar game >_<

edit: oh it crashed, whew lol

Just playing casuals for now, starting to learn R. Mika.
And I think I'll be starting to learn her for hours. Man, I just can't get my head around her.

big problem with the ryu army is you barely get to know the other match ups

This might be idiotic, but what exactly does it mean if a move is "safe"?
If a move is unsafe, your opponent can get a free hit after blocking the move. The easiest example to see is how vulnerable a player is after a Shoryuken. The Shoryuken is unsafe on block.

If your opponent does not get a free hit, then the move is safe.

People wildly inexperienced with an unorthodox character ≠ overpowered.

In fact I've only seen a handful of people who truly know what to do against him in a tourney level playing field.

Even those aren't as extreme as people make them out to be. Dhalsim's essentially Birdie 2 right now.

I watched this, I'm no expert but I can give my 2 cents.

The main thing that stands out it that I don't think you're using the right normals in up close situations. You do a lot of cr.lp, cr.lp, cr.mk xx elbow. This isn't a combo and it isn't really a frame trap either, cr.mk has 7 frames start up, compared to cr.mp which has 5. Consider strings like:

st.lp st.lp xx elbow
st.lk st.lk xx elbow
st.lp st.mp cr.mp xx elbow

The first two will combo on hit, and the last one can combo on counterhit st.mp.

I think you could use her longer range pokes more as well, st.lk buffered into elbow is good at catching limbs, cr.hp is good at hitting low pokes as well. I also didn't see you use st.mk, I think it's an excellent button even though it doesn't lead to anything without v-trigger, one you have v trigger st.mk becomes very strong. You can also run cancel it into throw as a way in, which is probably considered a gimmick but will totally work sometimes.

Remember ex elbow also, it has armour and can punish fireballs and predictable pokes, it can also catch jump back.

EDIT: also speaking of ex moves, you end quite a few rounds with full or nearly full meter so more meter usage in general will help a lot.

Remember to quick rise also, you forget sometimes. Laura has poor wake up defense so it's pretty important for her.
Thanks so much for the tips. Much appreciated. I really need to rethink my approach to the character.

5 minutes? The actual story mode isn't out until June. What we have now are basically cutscene -> battle repeated 2-4 times depending on the character. Kind of a waste of time unless you want fight money.

So nothing to really beat then? Maybe I won't bother much then.

Not really interested in online.

(Sorry, I'll stop sidetracking the thread. Last post.)

Another rage quitter, goes by the name MeLonz, super bronze Cammy with an 8 win streak. Thought he'd quit as his performance was not what you would expect from that kind of streak. I wasn't disappointed.

I think I'm pretty much done with ranked until RQ'ing gets addressed.

story mode with all characters is probably 2+ hours long. if you want lots of npc battles, you have to play survival.

challenge mode will be patched in soon.

I'm having a great time finally with this game as a complete newcomer to fighting games.

I ordered a Hori Fightpad from a japanese third party seller on Amazon a few weeks ago because the Madcatz one was out of stock everywhere. I forgot I actually managed to pre-order the Madcatz one, and it showed up in the mail. Great, I thought, now I can try to get into street fighter for real. I watched a bunch of tutorials, and learned to do hadoukens and shoryukens without fail. I spent most of my first week with this game in training mode, and searching for casual matches. I didn't get many games in because as you all know, the servers were pretty much busted the whole time. But my left thumb was starting to cramp from sliding all over the Madcatz d-pad. I thought I just had to stick it out, that it was just me not being used to fighting games.

A few days ago, the Hori I had again forgotten I had ordered showed up. This was the same day I bought the game for my laptop - because my girlfriend was hogging the TV when she was home and decided Street Fighter was "exactly like Smash Bros. - you're just doing the same thing over and over" (I can understand her because I was literally in training mode for two hours a day). Once my girlfriend has set her mind on something, there is no way to change that opinion. So I bought the game on PC so I could play without bothering her and she could watch her stupid crime dramas on the TV. I connected the Hori, and I searched for both casuals and ranked (ranked was something I never dared to try on the PS4), and I was getting matches left and right. I have won like 50% of my matches, and it feels really good because as I said, two weeks ago I didn't know what a Shoryuken even was, let alone how to do the input. And guess what, my thumb doesn't hurt with the Hori!

This game really doesn't want you to learn, with its' non-existant tutorials, and barebones CPU-matches. But I persevered, and I am so excited every time the announver says another fight is coming my way. I have even started reviewing my own matches to see what I fuck up on (I am so bad at punishing wake-ups it's hilarious..) and I feel that I'm improving at a steady pace.

So I want to thank everyone who helped me in this thread during the first few days with linking ebooks and videos, responded to questions, and everyone who has uploaded tutorials on Youtube (who probably don't read here). I broke through the wall that is Street Fighter and I feel like I have a greater understanding of game design as a whole.

This morning I had a go at using PixelRender to 'demake' Ryu + Ken. Now I want to make a fighting game like this!

btw. my CFN ID is kode80, I main Dhalsim at the moment. After getting my ass handed to me in gaf MK8, I'm out for revenge. :D
