50 hours in, I'm still as shitty as ever. This is the most soul crushing game I've ever played.

I'm surprised I haven't throw my stick out of the window yet.

Dude, playing fighting games while tired is rough. Now I know why I haven't just been making myself sit and play as much as I'd like regardless. It's all the coordination of playing after a some beers, but it's just vaguely stressful instead of funny.

I'm finally getting in enough games to approach the end of Rookie land, but at what cost? At what cost?! ლ(ಠ益ಠლ)

Request for Xeteh :)

You da bes.

Thanks!

I feel like SF5 is filled with some brilliant design but also some design that comes across as being out of touch. And not just in terms of teaching players, modes, etc. Some of the core aspects of the characters feel at odds. Cammy, for example is a character where you get in and beat their ass. One problem? You can't get in, and if you can't get in you have less health and less stun than any other character in the game. Bigger characters get more health and more stun when they should get less Stun to be a bit more balanced.

I'm sure others will disagree, but it feels like certain characters got a lot more than they should have and some are on the opposite end as well.

That's stuff that should be fixed over the year(s) if their "promise" of not needing a Super Street 5 version is true. It'll be patched and people will bitch to buff/nerf each character as the time goes on.

But...when you do get in you can do horrible things...that's her balance. Also she has angles for days. Once you get the hang of that you'll be getting in more often.

I just don't agree. I feel like if anything, this game feels like more than ever that each character was really thought out to not feel so much like an outlier but still unique. Zangief is a great example at this, as well as Dhalsim.

I've never found SF's character design more impressive.

Yup. If I didn't love the core gameplay as much as I do I would probably have broken something at this point. Think I'm gonna take a break from actually playing tomorrow and brush up on some of the beginner vids from CC, Ultrachen etc. A lot of my losses today were just from matchmaking being kinda all over the place at the Bronze/Ultra Bronze split, but outside of that I need to try to think of other ways to approach things and I'm sure I'm missing some basics.

Survival needs some serious re-work. Someone tell me why clearing this mode with an alt doesn't unlock colors for the default costume as well. What were they thinking?

Welcome to Capcom's "Engaging with the Game." Instead of giving FM in versus CPU, they have you fight a bunch of brain dead AI for an hour in the hopes that you'll get figh--

I see.

Looks like Cammy has jackshit when it comes to Health/Stun, recovery and safe moves. She looks like she's far behind everyone else on stats alone, which baffles me.

There's also mobility, hurt and hitbox size, variety of options, guaranteed damage on hit confirm, and other things to consider. It's not just "whoever has the most moves with advantage on block wins"

I play necalli. You do not know what difficulty getting in means.
More than anything, whats happening is there are so many cammys, that everyone online knows how to fight her. Thats why you're probably having so much trouble.

looking through the stage files it seems it would be possible to do things like swap night-time Kanzuki for daytime... but I'm not sure if I can be bothered, lol

there are a LOT of files which means a lot of references to change. ugh.

Not...really. Like I can jump in and spike, but I get Dragon Punch'd. I can V-skill and get swept. I can Hooligan, but they'll just jab me. Those are her moves to get in on people and they're all at a major disadvantage to get in. There's no priority unless I spend a Bar or I Trigger.

Cammy can definitely get in. Good distanced hit confirms off st. mp and cr. mp, a fast walk speed, and st. jab and st. mk to keep footsies honest.

If you're getting dp'd on a jump in multiple times its a sign your attack pattern is too simple, try changing it up.. Why not try some defence? I bet cammy can punish like crazy.

Are they the electric ones?
I think they were normal? Blue-colored though?

Yes, that is chip damage.
Thanks. I didn't realize some attacks did chip damage.

*edit*
Unlike normal moves (just pressing a button), special moves (hadoukens, dragon punches, etc -- things that require special inputs) do chip damage. Chip damage can't kill you unless it's from a critical art.
Thanks!

Just got this yesterday. Will be maining Urien when he's out. Hoping for Oro or Q to show up one day.
Right now I'm playing R.Mika.
Seems like you can just destroy people if they let you lay on the pressure.
Currently super bronze and level 6.

Any tips on Mika?
Who has the best buttons in this game? I love normals and pokes and it's why I play Oro in sf3.

Bison is beast status

I keep choking in round 3. Help me.

More than any training room practice the most important thing to do when online is being able to perform the things you want to do when you want to do them. Once I was able to think and do rather than try to guess and react I perform way more solid.

I definitely need to work on my Normals

Normals are extremely important in SF and especially important in V. The first thing you should do with a character is figure out all their normals. Think of each normal as it's own weapon and figure out what time and place to use that particular weapon.

Here is a question for you guys, right now, who you think has the best CA in the game, in terms of its use for the character combo wise, neutral, or a tool that they can use?

Anyone else having some odd possibly server-related issue these last 10-15 minutes? My last couple matches sat at the black screen with the swirly loading icon for a long time, then the versus screen showed "---" for the stats for both players.

At least it recorded my last match okay. Got a string of Casual games after my last post, then just got a Ranked that pushed me to Bronze. Won almost all my games tonight in general, too. I guess despite being tired I've learned enough to improve. :D

Well, I know what her normals are and what they do, but I need to know when to use them instead of just going 'COMBOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO' when I'm nervous. I mean, I know most of Cammy's combos, and am good at doing them, but I'd like to open things up in terms of getting to them

Well after dancing around Ultra Bronze for the last 45 minutes I'm going to quit while I'm ahead now that I have just got it back.

Progress!

My spacing, anti-airs, and mix-ups, and most importantly my execution have definitely improved.

I still really struggle with some match-ups. Mostly because I have little experience against them.

I think some battle arenas against some competent Rashids/Chuns/Bisons/Mikas/Laura's are in my future.
