Does anyone else have trouble trying to get windows 10 capture working with this game? unless I'm playing windowed my screen just flashes and the panel doesn't come up.

Everyone's main character is the worst character in the game tbh

Everyone else's is too strong, too. How can we buff everyone, but nerf everyone at the same time?

Any general tips on how to approach opening people up with Ryu?

I can play the mid range / projectile game just fine, but when I score a hard knockdown I stink. Lame crossups and tick throws all day :/

Hm, 47% win rate over the past 100 matches

More or less what I expected tbh

Actually really surprised that my Ryu win rate is way lower than my Ken win rate, expected them to be even.

I wish I had the mind to understand combos, and situational blocking counters and attacks.

I have a lot of respect for all of you, I am relegated to watching twitch, I learned in SF4, that I will never be good at these kind of games, I just don't have it; but I enjoy watching it so much for the chess match that goes on.

I have infinite respect for all of you. I just wanted you to know that. I lurk, I follow, I watch. Sunday I watched the whole tournament, it was really interesting to watch.

Darn 10 win streak ruined by Rashid o. :(

I really need to respect his wake up when he has super. I lost the first round by having little health myself and him, so I figured I'd pressure him on knock down by jumping. Problem is, even if I hadn't jumped, I would've got chipped by standing so close.

Won next round in like 10 seconds due to Necalli doing what Necalli does.

3rd round close, but once again lost it by jumping when he had a loaded super. FML.

Cannon Spike is only safe on block if you hit them in toes, I generally just throw Cammy's out of whatever button they try to press when I block a Cannon Spike high.

I dunno, I got hit from whichever height several times and could not punish it once, throws got teched, jabs got blocked etc.

God cannon spike is the lamest shit man

Jump -> Cannon Spike -> safe block string combo -> Jump and start process again

It's -37 on block, dude.

Let me put this in perspective:

Mika can fully charge a drop kick on a blocked cannon spike.

Oh, you mean canon strike. Use your AA's. it's not invincible in the air. Jump away from them and use an air to air move.

I don't understand the lack of Sim players.

Dhalsim is hard. He's actually good in this game unlike SF4 where he was hard and bad, he's now just hard and good. It's the type of character that you really need to understand what buttons to hit at what times and a character that you need really good defense to play well. Karin gets in pretty easily on Dhalsim and once I'm in most Sim's just fall apart when they actually have to block.

I don't understand the lack of Sim players.

I think it's pretty understandable, honestly. Sim is extremely difficult to use effectively (largely due to his unique playstyle) and you will almost definitely lose a lot while learning him. That's super discouraging to a lot of people.

I'm actually surprised Vega is so low, I thought qcf commands would make him more popular than he was in 4.

It only works in windowed mode for all games (not just for SFV).

2 options:

1) Run the game in borderless windowed mode by setting the Launch Options on the game's properties (in your Steam library) to "-fullscreen -borderless". It should show up, then.

2) Use Plays.tv for all recording purposes. Saves the last x minutes and lets you make an insta capture of the last y minutes and upload to YoutTube. It uses the hardware encoders on modern NV/AMD GPU's so the performance cost is negligible. Very configurable, too. I use this program and it's basically a better version of using the instant capture features on XB1/PS4. You can also use Geforce Experience but in my experience it's a garbage resource-hogging app and I don't ever install it.

The problem is I still have no clue when I can punish her and always end up eating a huge combo. Which ones are punishable?
As someone learning Mika, I want to know which ARE these huge combos you're talking about. I think the highest I've found is 4 hits, and that's including the LK-MP target combo for tiny damage.

The largest damage I've found she can even do outside her CA is EX-tornado, and if you miss that then you're dead because of the grapple recovery time.

*edit* I see the video below has 6 hits, but that requires V-trigger.

Did a mistake by turning on TTT2 for a view online games, and omg how much faster the matchmaking is in that game compared to sf5 its literally around 10-15 sec to get a game whilst in training, connections are awesome and way better as well, don't even get me started on the loading times. Think I'm gonna take a break from SF5 until the update, its kinda embarrassing looking at this as a current gen title.

Laura has the scariset resets in the game.

While it might not be a true combo. Mika's charge HK into LK is safe in every respect except to dp's ( and maybe supers? dunno, haven't seen that happen yet ).

Yeah, you really, really don't want to rely on that. The Charged HK is very easy to stop, you can mash Jab and hit her out of it. If it lands, then you got either extremely lucky or the other guy just doesn't know the matchup.

And Laura's resets are good but she can't do this (this vid has been making the rounds): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9vfAl35u9U

That's just one of the resets she can do with her V-Trigger, there's quite a few others.

He has different stances. Makes him more difficult to play.

Thanks. I'll try both.

Pls stop matching me with players at 2x my LP total. Being completely shut down by Vega's F+HP makes me feel salty as fuck. What do I do against it with Gief?

Side note: I just noticed that there's a reflection of the fighters in the waterfall on the New Zealand stage.

Is it worth learning Vega as an alt if my main is Bison? Vega looks fun to play but he has the same principle weakness that Bison does that's driving me to learn an alt: defense.

Don't get me wrong I know how to block and such, but I wouldn't mind playing a character that has more options than block and v.Reversal.

Vega really does look like a lot of fun though. That walk speed...

The other characters I've been dabbling with are Necalli and Ken but I'm not finding them too enjoyable yet for various reasons. I really like having a DP for anti-air though, a lot.

I think that these matchups are actually the best ones to get. Firstly, if they're that high above you, you probably aren't losing very many points when you lose. Secondly, you're going to learn a lot about your weaknesses from those matches. Save that replay and figure out how to fight Vega!

Also, here's a good replay of Vega vs Gief for you to study (PR_Balrog v.s. Snake Eyez): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vpl3sjij5hY

Another with Snake Eyez: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S_Q45bdEbJU

As someone who used to play Vega in the past I just couldn't adjust my playstyle, though I gotta say his V-trigger is quite nice. Maybe I'll put more hours towards him once I get a grip on Karin's basics.

What is really making me lose most of my fights is not knowing how some of the attacks work and how to defend them, like Mika's and Rashid's.

Afaik Mika's charge HK can't be jabbed out of, if that happens, it should be because the Mika fucks up.

And Laura can absolutely do cross under mix ups, difference is she doesn't need to have you in the corner or use v-trigger for it lol

He has different stances. Makes him more difficult to play.

Fair, but as someone who usually gets scared away from stance characters almost immediately I don't think Vega's stances are particularly hard to figure out. It's pretty clear right away why you'd use claw over barehand and vice versa.

Yup. Her confirm into super is really easy and the damage is really good. Her EX moves for the most part are kinda bad/useless, so it's better just to save the meter for super.

You guys are bad Karin's. Ex qcb p is an amazing AA, qcb k travels far and compliments combos, qcf b xx p will pass through projectiles and launch, which can lead into a EX qcb p for good damage.

But you know,
hxz6evH.gif
is rather tempting as well.

The hitbox on Vega's F+HP lingers so you can actually punish it from far when you block it. I think you might be able to CA it on block too lol
