I just have no idea whats going on when I fight Laura...is that dash elbow into throw 1 move? Or are they throwing me after the elbow? Do i tech it or jump out?

Depends, lol. Medium elbow into take down is one branched move (you'll know because it says 2 hits). However, if you eat (or block) a light elbow, they can do her command grab after. It's not a combo, so you can jab after blocking the elbow.

Btw, it always helps if you say who you are using. Some characters have specific counters that are better than the general options.

You all like playing Ranked or Casual more?
I like casuals, rank makes me nervous lol...One trick I use is I don't look at the title screen and see a players rank or lp. If they are high you might be intimidated and play a terrible game, so I look down at the versus screen and set the game to only display names and not rank.

Thanks for the tips, and I play Chun.

Smart idea and that's the same with me. I need to do that lol. I love Casual as it's more laidback and if I lose I'm not upset much but in Rank i get a thrill from winning. At the same time losing in Ranked makes you feel like crap so it just depends. Right now I'm only on Ultra Bronze so I'll keep doing my best to get higher, I might not even ever touch Gold but needless to say Casuals there for me to fall back on. Ranked is just way too stressful at times.

Finally beat normal survival with Nash. I actually got a full health recover before Bison, which gave me a chance. He was surprisingly easier than Necalli.

Okay....so I just dodged a Chun-Li super and went for crush counter while she was spaz kicking the opposite direction, and what do you fucking know.....it isn't....absolutely bullshit.

Good stuff SixMachine, sorry I didn't put up more of a fight.
I was dropping inputs all over the place there. Like I said, I'm off my game today.

On the bright side, that was literally the first time I won against a FANG.

Tell me about it.

GGs. I know the connection wasn't too hot, being a Texas to Canada connection. I personally wasn't happy getting hit by too many Ressenhas since I know I can block it but they basically are crazy online lol. The rollback netcode was making it really weird, like sometimes I thought I hit you out of it, but it rollsback to it landing. I know I shouldn't be saying this but using that move too much is really risky, you can get full punished off it. My poison setups weren't coming out, so if I look like a doofus doing nothing on knockdown, that was it lol.

... I took one round? Yay?

My experience was wake up Cannon Spike being blocked and then getting Irish Whip'd in to death.

I regret my invite.

Yep yep, the Ressenhas are a bad habit I desperately need to break. My normals game is usually better but I was flailing around and my rushdown game was all over the place, I guess the connection didn't help.

STILL, I had tons of fun. Thanks.

Anyone up for a ft10? CFN: Sixfortyfive

Are you still up for some games? I never played a Mika on Fang. I'm in Texas, so heads up if you are somewhere far.

Yea, I still had fun too. Even if the law of physics will never allow a perfect internet connection, I still like playing SF even with rollbacks.

Started learning how to use a fight stick so am I sticking with casual for a month or so. A lot of players are going to think they are hot shit now when they rely me but oh well.

Rising dragon punches and combos are so hard for me on this stick

lol sorry.

You should probably be more aggressive in general. Both of these characters want to bully the opponent but I think you walked backward at the start of each round. I don't know Cammy's buttons that well but she and Mika seem pretty even when it comes to effective ranges but I think Cammy actually can get real shit off of 3-frame normals? I dunno.

If I'm trying to force my way in with c.HP so often try to neutral jump at its max range and come down and punish it. You run the risk of being hit with an anti-air throw by doing this but if we're mid-screen then I'm going to be focusing more on working my way in and less on hitting you out of the sky.

Mika's charged s.HK is plus on block. I think you tried to press buttons almost every time you blocked it and ate a target combo for your troubles. Stuff it if you see it coming; respect the follow-up if you're forced to block.

Don't go to wake-up DP so often. It's worth throwing out every once in a while to make Mika respect your wake-up, but when you use it as a panic button it's a bad time. If you really want to get out of corner pressure, make use of V-Reversal. If you go to this too often you can be jab -> thrown out of it, but again, it's about making the opponent respect your options by mixing them up enough.

Do absolutely whatever you need to get yourself out of the corner against Mika. Don't let her push you there in the first place if you can help it; remember that the stage length is a resource and you shouldn't "spend" all of it by walking backward.

Yeah, I fucked up a ton... I do feel like you had moments of psychic knowledge though. I feel like everytime you c.HP'd me and I didn't neutral jump I got thrown but everytime I jumped you never tried to command grab. Don't get me wrong, I was totally outclassed but I felt like everytime I tried to learn from my mistakes you out mindgame'd me. My wake-up DPs were basically panic options, it felt like any time you got on me I guessed wrong and got punished, so I'd cannon spike... it worked sometimes and most of the time it got blocked in to your Irish Whip. RIP.

Either way, I wasn't actually expecting to win since I've been a creeper and watched your replays but I had fun. Thanks for the fights!

Yeah send an invite.

Hey quick Mika set? What's your cfn i play Mika as well

As much as I'm enjoying SFV, I still find some things need to be improved... these can be added in as small updates and will help to make the SFV experience so much better.

Quality of Life improvements needed:

1) Save states for training mode, rank/casual match search

2) Add replay button after every match please. It is freaking annoying to go back and sift through 20+ match replays for rank and battle lounge (especially those ft10s) just to find the game where the player needs to view the replay

3) Ability to accept invitations anywhere besides being in a rank/casual match

Battle lounge:

I know it is still very basic now but there are some implementations which should be easy to do.

1) As getting ping is difficult (need to ping every single connection before displaying eats up time and connection), at least give us a filter to filter by region/country. Or some filter that allows us to choose the country's battle lounges. Country flags are tied to CFN ids so filtering and getting them shouldn't be much of a problem.

What are you on about? SF3 literally had more shots shots at launch .....Sean, Ken, and Ryu.....this has Ken and Ryu.....and all I ever see is Karin, Nash, and Bison it feels like.
He was likely referring to the original SF3 plan to have only Sean.

fun fact...

Cammy's lip colour is listed in the files as "rip" colour, and Nadeshiko's wrist band is labelled "list band"

I was genuinely surprised... although I guess it never occurred to me that most of these game files are in english, despite the dev team (presumably) being Japanese?

Quite interesting.

It's just because of the way their language is. They have a set amount of sounds and "wree" for wrist isn't really one of them. They also don't have "le" sound and the closest is the "ri". They just use whatever is the closest they can get when referring and typing stuff in English.

Anybody up for a match against a ken main?

TheFlow

I'm up for some! I'll send you an invite.

Man, Ranked keeps putting me up against the same Birdie player, and they consistently keep pushing my shit in. I'm not sure how to approach because his anti air stuffs every possible aerial approach, and the banana peel kinda makes it hard to even go into footsies/poking range without being opened up. Can't hang back either, 'cause I get pressured to move in by the soda can.

So, uh... anyone want to play a scrubby Vega and help me look at where I can improve?

Thanks for the explanation :) still pretty amazing that they're coding in a language that isn't even their native. So they're using English, their non-native language, and then a coding language too. Crazy.
