Nintendo Direct: new presentation announced for tomorrow

Nintendo's calling it Zelda: SoS because they need help

Not at all. Sure, we've had an (underwhelming) E3 and three directs (beginning in 2015, would have been more accurate to say "12 months" on my part). Nintendo's investor's meetings have been more exciting than what PR has been feeding us lately. They have dodged every question about the truly exciting things like NX, mobile games, and expanding IPs. We have almost no idea what's in the pipeline for them in the later half of 2016, which is merely 4 months away.

Compare that to Sony and Microsoft who are very open to what to look forward to and consistent updates on their bigger projects set for this year

Nintendo has only revealed near-term stuff with few exceptions for a few years now. It's just what they do. What I gather is you want them to tease/reveal projects that are 1+ year away, like microsoft/sony do? Where you end up with situations like last guardian (going quiet for years) and phantom dust (revealed prematurely so it gets cancelled). There are pros and cons to both approaches but just because nintendo isn't talking about stuff that is 9+ months away (usually) doesn't mean they're being 'quiet' - it just means they're focusing and talking about more near-term stuff. Less exciting, i guess?

Retro said it probably wouldn't be possible technically. And that's really not surprising considering they couldn't even port Returns without making sacrifices. I'd be all for porting it to NX though, more people need to play it.
New 3DS now is a thing

But probably given the time, is better to just wait NX

THE THING I LOVE ABOUT DIRECTS IS THE HYPE WHEN IT IS ANNOUNCED OUTTA NOWWHERE!!!!

Imagine if Nintendo just put a YouTube link of the NX randomly one day...

If Retro has been working on another Donkey Kong port, Gaf will blow up.

Meh. Can't be arsed.

I'm just not buying it since this is a worldwide Direct and much of that is out in Japan already and the rest is already known as coming (aside the SNES VC stuff)

Remember when NOE used to get everything last?

It's possible. Let's wait and see before calling it fake.

I wonder if they will even acknowledge NX during the broadcast. Something like this maybe:

Reggie Fils-Aime said:
We do not plan on revealing any information today regarding NX. But we look forward to sharing more details with you in the near future.

I hope Reggie licks his lips, looks into the camera with moist eyes, and punctuates all of his sentences with various hand gestures.

I don't see how that is germane to the point that this is a worldwide Direct and the fact Nintendo Directs always have a game announcement.

Because Yokai Watch and Fire Emblem Fates are new for Europe. You know they'll be in the European direct, doesn't matter that it's a worldwide event. If you're hoping for big news, I am too, but let's see.

I'm honestly expecting Miitomo news despite the Wii U/3DS focus. I don't care for mobile, but it's something people are forgetting. It launches this month.

I kind of think so. It would be nice.

I want to see Pikmin. I kind of hope it's on Wii U and not NX. I'd like to see what they can do building off the template, like how Fates blows Awakening out of the water.

Don't think they will. Doesn't add anything to the broadcast and we all know that we're getting info soon.

I don't understand people asking for Zelda footage.

We all know full well that's going to be a E3 reveal.

You could have said the same thing in the november direct, yet we somehow got (brief) zelda u footage. It even had a few new details that weren't present the last time it was shown off.

Time for some Zelda info right?

Yup, they'll confirm hyrule warriors release date and possibly preorder bonuses.

I hope there's an intense moment where the camera slowly zooms in on Reggie's face. I hope the camera zooms into one of his pores and then the scene transitions to a magical new world like Pikmin 4 or Waluigi: Funeral Director.

God how long have we known about the NX at this point officially? feels like forever and considering it seems to be the only thing a big group of people care about maybe it was a bad idea to mention it as early as Nintendo did

But again, it's a worldwide Direct.

If we were to have a Direct like that, it'd have been a unique to region one, of which there have been a couple, but by being a worldwide one, that implies that there's to be some actual news, not just iteration.

Nintendo had to reveal it. They were screwed either way. If they didn't reveal it, places would have gone on about them going mobile exclusive. If they did, they'd have this long period before the actual reveal.

They already did saying that there'll be no update on it.

Now that we basically know Zelda NX is a thing

Except by the time being is absolute bullshit because Nintendo never said such, and until they come out and say it's a thing it's still absolute bullshit.

I think some of us are just hoping for some new, brief clips to raise the hype. I don't think anyone expects a significant amount of time devoted to it, but just a crumb for the fans to nibble on. I mean, we've seen footage a few times already, so it's not out of the question to get a little something new from the Dreck.

This is true, and Reggie has stated as such. However, no matter what way you spin it, Sony's 2015 E3 press conference was the stuff of legends, and it was done with announcing games everybody that get people excited (even if they were 1+ years away). I think there are times that call for holding your secrets close, and times when you have to just unload all your ammo. Nintendo has done a little too much of the former in my book.

Is anyone even hype for this?
I'm not: it will just be a laborius overlong demo of already announced 3ds games and wii u games I have little to no interest in, I expect no new announcements or any mention of the zelda game everyone is waiting for.

I'm very excited to see new game footage/hear a few new details about games that have already been announced.

I'm excited because I don't expect anything ridiculous like NX news Zelda footage or the announcement of a new Metroid game.

Morimoto is presenting the Direct in Japan, Shibata in Europe.

Lol Kimishima probably won't have any presence in Directs. It looks like Reggie/Bill and Shibata will solely take care of Directs outside of Japan. While that Morimoto guy will replace Iwata in Japan full-time.

Oh...
I know different personalities and leading types, but it's still such a shock going from a President you see everywhere and "know", to this guy who's basically in the shadows. :(

As others have said that picture is extraordinarily easy to fake so the only actual evidence in favor of this leak is that the site that reported it says the leaker has been verified previously. Therefore we have two points of failure. The site may have made this up. Does anyone know if it is a reputable site? And second this could be a verified leaker that is just making shit up. Not unheard of, see CBOAT.

I think this has about a 50/50 chance of being real because as others have said this could well be only the EU portion of the direct. Worldwide directs are usually split into two parts, a worldwide one and a regional one. The stuff in that leak does look like it may have EU specific info such as release dates and the more important stuff will be announced during the worldwide portion without region-specific release dates. Additional those eShop reels tend to be in the regional portion.

Except by the time being is absolute bullshit because Nintendo never said such, and until they come out and say it's a thing it's still absolute bullshit.

If you want to harbor delusions because "Nintendo hasn't yet confirmed" an obviously correct leak, that's your prerogative.

Shit is still almost certainly happening.
