Nintendo Direct: new presentation announced for tomorrow

I want them to fix the NES, N64, DS, & GBA games on the Wii U. That stupid dark filter ruins it for me.
It's bullshit. I dealt with it for Mario 64 because it's Mario 64 but I passed on a lot of those games because of the dark tint. I can deal with outdated graphics but at least give us what the games actually looked like.

No, it's absolutely only NES games. Nintendo's fault, just like N64 games being darker than they should be.

I thought so too. It turns out the mode on TV that mimics surround sound does not play nice with the 8 bit sounds. As soon as I turned that mode off, the NES games sounded perfect.

I am most surprised by the announcement of SNES games for 3DS VC. Launch of Star Fox in time for Star Fox Zero, right?
Oh well, just Super Mario World, F-Zero, and Super Metroid again

If B is true we'll likely won't find out tomorrow and not sure how it being available on New 3DS proves anything about NX.

I didn't say it proved anything and of course we wouldn't find out if this is the case until we see the NX SNES VC. But what if N3DS is secretly the first member of the NX family? It would make sense that N3DS exclusive stuff would work on NX right off the bat if it was. I'm just speculating. N3DS is such a weird system. It has all this extra power, but there really hasn't been much support for it.

The dark/washed out filter on Wii U VC games is supposed to be a preventative measure for epilepsy, right? I understand the importance of taking steps like this (especially considering some incidents Nintendo's faced in the past), but would it kill them to at least add an option in parental controls or something to switch it off for those of us who aren't epileptic?

I have an AVR with a proper surround speaker setup, and don't bother with any Dolby post-processing when playing games. None of this simulated crap. It's Nintendo. I can play other 8-bit games via Retroarch and I don't get that problem.

Star Fox isn't present on either Wii or Wii U's VC, we discussed it a few pages back, I said I believe reading that there was a legal dispute regarding the games that used the FX chip which is why they weren't released on VC and like how they release SMA3 instead of YI.

You mean NX being a "family" of platforms? I guess that could be but seems a little farfetched, because then there might not be any new hardware for a while and supposedly that's not the case.

How would that work?

I'm in the NX is a (separate) console and a handheld camp, so yeah, I think NX is a family of systems. N3DS being part of that family is probably not the case, but then again, it is the first thing the merged hardware team put out.

I'm pretty sure it is intentional to prevent epileptic seizures.

There should be a seizure warning and/or an option to turn off the dark filter instead. No reason to add a mandatory dark filter to every game just on the off-chance someone may have a seizure.

I appreciate that they added it, but it really should be optional. Darker segments of games look particularly awful with it.

Hell, I'll even accept them keeping the dark filter if they fix the input lag. I'm not one to notice it usually and it can be pretty bad

But really, if they make all the emulators run with the quality of the GBA one I'll be crazy happy

I 100% agree it should be an option, but something tells me their lawyers have told them 'if you do this, you'll open yourself up to getting sued' which is why they don't.

If that leak is true...bleh. What a terrible and uninteresting lineup IMO. The only bit of zelda news we'll get is that release of TPHD for Friday and maybe a teaser for Zelda Wii U/NX. I'm hoping for at least one good surprise though.

But don't SNES games largely lack the feature? So why is it a blanket case for N64 and NES but not the SNES? The whole thing just seems bizarre.

That and a warning about possible seizures if one tries to turn off the filter would be enough, I feel. Of course, I'm no lawyer,so what do I know.

Besides Star Fox and Twilight Princess, there isn't anything on Wii U coming out before summer. Is there? Oh, we'll probably get a look at Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

To be fair, we areretty much at the end for the 3DS and WiiU. They will see a final round of AAA first party games this fall, but pretty much nothing until then.

SNES games have it I believe.

Wii U VC games also have input lag on the Gamepad.

lol at the hype for SNES emulator. Nintendo sure has fallen far when everyone is hoping for a 20 year old emulator.

Yeah : / It's depressing that it could be the biggest megaton tomorrow... No way I'm buying Super Mario World for the third time again. I'm done with that. Besides, they've been doing a terrible port job. The games look blurry or have no-sense filters on them. The only good ones are the GBA ones since those are made by M2 (The ones who make the absolutely awesome SEGA 3D Classics on 3DS).

Maybe N3DS isn't "secret NX," but what if N3DS gets to carry some NX services, like the rumored SNES VC. That's not quite as crazy, right?

Wait just heard SNES VC for 3DS?? Where the fuck is the GBA VC, Nintendo?? I hope NX portable can play DS, N64 and maybe GC VC games. I love playing portable more than consoles nowadays.

I don't care. Give us the option to turn it off, along with including a warning, rather than being forced upon us. I get why the filter is in place, but at the rate they are going, I would just go and emulate the games if they just want to continue with this. And I'm surprised the SNES games haven't received a similar filter in place.

Finally for NOA and NOE

Cross-buy and Cross-save between N3DS and NX would be special, right? I that's what I was assuming that would mean but forgot to write.

Ah that's different, but even then I don't see why it couldn't happen on Wii U too, or VC games on regular 3DS... We might be reading too much on what it appears to be a leak.
