...? The cartoon came after the movie. You know that right?
Is there a reason why they didn't cast Leslie Jones as a fellow scientist, instead of this DAMN GURL HELL NAW crap?
The trailer literally says in the first 30 seconds,
"30 years ago
Four scientists saved New York
This Summer
A new team will answer the call"
It's also worth noting that the marketing materials for the film have now started....four months away from the films release. Which is usually never a good sign in regards to the studio's faith in the film (the same thing happened to 2015's Fant4stic. First official trailer appeared in April...four months before the film's release).
I think Sony has another Pixels on their hands, to be honest. Really not feeling this one.
I really didn't. Could have sworn i'd been watching the cartoon before the movies came out....? The cartoon came after the movie. You know that right?
dat gun lick
Eeeehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
The least I can say is that it doesn't seem to be packed with crude raunchy humor given the production staff's previous credentials. At the same time, most of the jokes fall flat, and the CG is pretty conspicuous too. I mean, yeah, they are ghosts, so they are supposed to not look completely realistic, but it still kinda sticks out like a sore thumb to me.

I'm curious if they'll release a new pop song with the movie. I wonder what artist they would pick?
Meh.
This first thing that struck me was how cheap it all looks. The film quality and special effects look like they were done in a Walmart photolab.
Looks fine. Not great, but fine.
edit:
Upon a rewatch, they're leaning a bit too hard on gross-out/slapstick that the first movie barely touched on. Still, there's some stuff that I enjoyed in there too. I laughed at "GET OUT OF MY FRIEND, GHOST!"

It's so progressive that the black one is the "street smart" one while the white one's are scientists.
Glad we've gotten past racial stereotypes.

I don't think there's a single 'vagina joke' in the trailer?Hey guys, vagina jokes and brash black ghetto muscle lady. LAUGH
Nailed it. I just watched both of the originals since they are back on Amazon Prime, and this new one looks much goofier in tone.
Not that the originals are serious movies, but they play it somewhat straight. The actors are funny, but the situation is portrayed as somewhat serious. This doesn't quite get the tone right.
I'll still watch it though.
I'll be honest here, I was watching the trailer and laughing out loud just thinking about what the reaction was going to be here. Some of the humor fell flat for me, I don't feel like there's a lot of chemistry between the characters (it's a short trailer though) and I'm not sure that I like the "somebody is making more ghosts" thing - I'm assuming it's a human but I'd like to be wrong on that.
That was also the 80s, as you said, and it wasn't heralded as some socially progressive movie as this one has.Well, that's the case in the originals too, though Winston is basically just some guy that comes in looking for a job and is not played over-stereotypically for an 80s movie.
They nailed the visuals. But, I was bored watching the trailer. It'll be interesting to watch. It can't be worse than Ghostbusters 2... Right?
I thought that Spy had terrible trailers too, and that movie was great, so I'll reserve judgment.
The Real Ghostbusters didn't come until after Ghostbusters had been released. The Filmation "Ghost Busters" had no relation to the movie or the movie's creation.

At least it's progressive for white women...
I did cringe at the black girl
