Spy's trailers were basically LOL LOOK AT MCCARTHY SHE'S FAT

Feig's good at this and he's directed the stars before. I doubt it'll be like OG Ghostbusters, but it'll be fun.
I'm going to try keeping an open mind, but it looks like... yearly American comedy #125,945.

Doesn't look good and that comedy were they have a little moment to make a scene random, ugh. It's like a shit tier above random incoherent words stringed together that is suppose to be funny which they always seem to do in comedies.

"The power of pain compels you!"

Uggggh, that is such an awful groaner. And that moment kind of encapsulates everything that looks wrong with this project. Slapsticky, self-aware, reliant on pop culture references.

Patty, not pain. With how persecuted white american christians are they were hardly going to use "christ".

Looks better than expected, actually. The ghosts look fantastic.

I thought that skull-faced lady ghost looked pretty generic and not particularly scary compared to:

eh, it's a trailer, so I hate to read too much into it, but none of the humor on display felt sharp in any way.

Edit: /\/\/\/\ And then there's the ghost element that didn't do anything to suggest scary, just neon circus mostly.

What's with the crushed to blue hell and back ghost vfx? Looks bad in several scenes. Ghosts are also weirdly non-see through and use too much After Effects Shine plugin magic :)

The trailer is kind of misleading, but there are more signs of it being a reboot than not.

For example, when they unveil the Ecto-1, they seem to be surprised it's a hearse, but if they were familiar with the old Ghostbusters it wouldn't be that surprising (I know the old one was an ambulance, but close enough). Also they probably wouldn't call it Ecto-1 out of respect for the original Ecto-1.

Basically everything they're doing seems like it's happening for the first time and no one is making allusions to the old Ghostbusters other than the text at the beginning.

I kind of liked Kristen Wiig and Kate McKinnon, i must admit it, but Melissa McCarthy and Leslie Jones were abysmal, they even made Jones play the token blackghetto character. Not sure if I'm seeing the movie.

Good FX though.

Expected 10 on stupid scale

Got about a 3 instead

I mean, it actually seems like it might not be complete shit, which is kinda blowing my mind. I have low standards, I know.

It can't be a whole lot worse than part 2, right? Well, yes it could of course...

I mean I was at "hell no", now I'm at "something to have on while cleaning the house on a Saturday". That's an improvement, right?

Honestly, it seems like it'll be pretty funny, it's an entirely different brand of humour though so I can understand why people expecting it to be more similar to the original films would be super disappointed.

I really like the special effects too, they manage to look cheesy in a good way.

I thought this was always known and that any appearances of the classic actors would be cameos unrelated to their original roles?

Those dislikes.

Film looks fine, there's a pretty noticeable continuity error when the ghost vomits on Wiig. McCarthy is on her right then immediately switches to her left and the whole angle of the event changes, I'll put it down to trailer editing though. Really don't like what McCarthy is bringing to the table as usual but that's just me, I suppose people who consider her the greatest living comedienne will be pleased.

McKinnon will steal this film as well, she's been underraed for far too long.

Sounds like most comedies these days.

Tone in scifi and comedy is exactly the same.

....uhhh. No? The comedy in Ghostbusters is extremely dry. Men in Black relies on alot of Will Smith being super loud around a bunch of stone-faced dudes and "look how wacky and gross all this stuff is!" MIB is fine, but it's not on Ghostbusters' level of wit.

It's interesting how humor in films has changed over the years.

In a couple hundred years I can see the #1 movie being a butt farting for 1.5 hours. (Thanks Idiocracy!)

That was terrible all around. The only saving grace is that it is in HD so the sfx look fine but beyond that, it was bad, horrible humor, no charm and the acting was sub par.

Not wasting time watching it

Tuesday I discovered Crackle and saw it has the Real Ghostbusters cartoon up there and watched an episode. Then last night I was wondering when we'd get the first trailer and here it is.

I only watched halfway through because although I'm sure you can call the plot a mile away and garbage "SPOILER CULTUREEEEE" aside I thought we were entering into giving too much away territory.

Looks like a very fun movie. I think though Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones are mostly why I want to see this and hope they break out.

Damn, everyone hates it?

I thought this looked good! Its wayyyy better than I expected. Granted, my expectations were pretty low.. so maybe thats why im not being as hard on it. But im genuinely interested in seeing it. Seems like the group has great chemistry.

Man, this is kind of a bummer. I've kept a pretty open mind about this so far, wasn't thrilled it was a reboot but I like most of the cast and have no problem with it being four women but... this really does not look good. The humor did nothing for me.

On the plus side I really like the look of the ghosts, and overall it looks pretty nice visually. The Times Square scene looks like it'll be pretty cool, thought not sure I like all the various weapons.

christ i was willing to give it the benefit of the doubt but that looks kinda lame.

the only funny gag was the mckinnon scene with the wig/hat.

Man, they are really laying the 'Sassy black woman' stereotype on thick with Leslie's character. Pretty disappointing imo.

Everything's relative, of course, Ghostbusters' practical effects are still tops in my book as well. But I think the ghosts really pop in the new film. The spectral trails are nicely done.

Hmm, mixed feelings on it.
The trailer didn't sell me on it like I thought it would (I've been looking forward to this movie), but it's just a trailer. The full movie could be much better.

As expected really, looks to be a fairly straight copy of the original, plus women. It's Feig's MO in his McCarthy movies, Heat was a fairly standard buddy cop comedy with female leads, Spy was a standard spy comedy with a female lead, etc. Was never honestly expecting great things given I'm neither a big fan of the original or mad about Leslie Jones, Kristen Wiig or Melissa McCarthy, but Kate McKinnon (whom I know least about) looked like she could be pretty funny. Trailer hasn't changed my mind any.

Dunno about this. I've only seen Spy of Melissa McCarthys movies and this trailer seems like Ghostbusters version of Spy with three additional characters that don't seem to be funny (at least to me).

I have to re-watch the original two movies, it's been a long time since I've seen it the last time.

Is there a reason why they didn't cast Leslie Jones as a fellow scientist, instead of this DAMN GURL HELL NAW crap?

I remember someone reporting (probably McWeeny) that at one point it was Jones & Wiig as the co-leaders. McCarthy was gonna be the Transit employee.

Obviously that changed at some point.
