Looks as forgettable and unnecessary as I expected. The new Egon is looking like the highlight of the whole thing since she looks like she has some natural charisma that might elevate the poor material she will probably have to work with.

Unnecessary for sure and mediocre at best. This movie didn't need to be made and from what we're seeing so far, it just doesn't work as well without the original writers/director. Sucks though, because I want it to be good, but I didn't want this movie in the first place.

Looks really bad. Younger generation won't really care about it. Older generation cannot get over the cast. And it just doesn't look funny or innovative.

I think a remake was an impossible task to really get it right.

The original fans have been teased with a sequel with the original cast for like 15 years, and built their expectations on that.

It's like getting teased with a new conker game and getting Young Conker and the Conker game on Spark instead of a new Conker game.

No matter how good it is, you were expecting something else, so the new one is a letdown because it isn't whatever you expected (good luck pinning that down to a consistency for everyone anyway).

Even if it had 4 dudes in it, I think many people would find something to complain about. The only way to make it work with a new cast that wouldn't get people disappointed would have it be a pass the torch movie with the originals effectively hiring the new group.

The ghosts in the old Ghostbusters looked quite a bit more atmospheric and spooky. Some of them outright creeped me out as a kid. These look super sterilized and computery. Over-reliance on CG strikes again I guess.

Maybe people feel the same way about this as they do with that? The majority of people in this thread don't seem to like. The like/dislike on Youtube is obviously slanted in the negative direction. So views in general are negative on it just like with Jem.

This movie has been cause célèbre for misogynists since day one.

Same with the puritanical faction of GB fans.

The trailer is nowhere near Jem level. So no I don't believe we can say just like with Jem.

Yeah, this is pretty disappointing. That ghost that puked on her was laughable, but the ghost from the original movie in the library was genuinely spooky and scary to me. Practical vs. CG I guess.

Ghosts, Leslie Jones and stereotypes, reminded me of when SNL did a Ghost Chasers spoof and Leslie Jones was written as being scared of ghosts. The sketch ended with her literally breaking through the front door and running down the street. But hey, at least they called her a scientist there!

IM GONNA YELL A LOT OKAY GUYS THAT'S FUNNY RIGHT

Does the same shit on SNL

Edit to the post above me...

This feels like an SNL skit trailer

Bill Murray made the original ghostbusters a smash hit

Good god, 10 pages of whining about every teeny detail already?? Jfc

I think it looked good, I loved the tall ghost with the stiped pants and all the ladies seemed to bounce off of each other really well. I am super confused about people not liking the jokes... like, do y'all really want the best ones in the first trailer? Cause I hate it when they tell me the whole damn story.

Whatever. I'm workin on my cosplay RIGHT NOW for an upcoming convention, and I'll def be wearing it on Day 1!!

Characters are different. Situations are different. Nods shoud be expected it's not a remake.

Never called it a remake (I even made sure to say it's 100% remake as well as not 100% original in my previous post), I just said given the previously mentioned circumstances, it seemed >>more like<< a remake to me than a reboot.

What movie needs to be made? It's entertainment, they aren't setting out to cure cancer.

I don't want the best jokes in the trailer. I want some good jokes. Which it didn't have.

I'd say that there's certainly a correlation between fan demand and the sequels that get made. It's what lends sequels the momentum and weight needed to get off the ground in the first place.

That is awful with silly forced jokes and crappy cg.

Why does it seem that cg has been getting worse in the last few years? does it have to do with over use ?

This reminds me of the goosebumps level and cg style that leaves me no feeling when I see it. i almost see nothing good in this, whoever was behind the movie feels cheesey as shit. must be some of the same folks that do some of those other movies like goosebumps , pixels imo

"municipal historian" = she knows the history of the municipality, i.e. "The Streets"

Shit's actually insulting.
What if she's actually a municipal historian that can't find a better job? There's too little info to get really mad right now

I don't want the best jokes in the trailer. I want some good jokes. Which it didn't have.
The Wiig, McCarthy "Lets go" one is kind of funny if you look at in on a meta level about who gets to be the lead of the movie.

at least the special effects look good, I guess it must be a plot point though that all the ghosts are blue but slimer is green?

Definitely a hard pass watching it in theaters, but I'll watch it at home on netflix.

Not much competition in theaters though. Two weeks before is Secret life of Pets, the week after is Star Trek Beyond and Ice Age, after that is the next Bourne movie

Maybe people that are still stuck in puberty regardless that they are in their mid 30's.

I watched the originals in their debut in theaters and really looking forward to this new one. Stereotypes be damned and really hope there's more to the Jones character than whats has been showed.

Hmmm, nice detail. So her bit about that he knows the streets is not just "street wise" but to actually studied the city and history?
