Yeah, but I think it did a fine job, even though it wasn't joke heavy. It showed us the setting, introduced most of the characters and let us know a little bit what the plot is about. And this is only the first trailer, so we're definitely gonna see a bit more later on. /shrug It's not the best trailer but it's far from the trash people love talking about it.
Well unlike some other people it wasn't a bad horrible awful trailer. It was "eh". I laughed at some parts, thought the ghosts looked neat but ultimately I wasn't wowed. I want it to be a good movie because I like some of the actresses, but based in this it's not the kind of movie I'd jump to go see in theater.

I still might but it wouldn't be because of this trailer.

Here is the chinese food restaurant in Boston

Looks like they built the garage for the movie.

Nice catch.

They really played up on the Chinese aspect of the restaurant too. They also added some scruffy New York styled apartment buildings digitally to the background as well.

Was expecting a cameo from the original cast in the trailer. Something besides the remixed theme to truly tie it to the original

No matter what you think about this reboot, the original is still intact.

yes, but why not make a good movie from the original. Star wars shows it can be done for the most part.

Just gotta hire the right people I guess. I'd love a good ghostbusters dont get me wrong but this screams lack of creativity and understanding.

Oh well, I will probably watch it but looks like I wont like most of it. Hopefully something in there ineteresting to see.

BTW, they move into or recruit Kate's character at the Firehouse at some point, you can see the interior of it in this shot...

I think the movie is a sequel but pays tribute. Bet it starts off with professor getting fired at school, first ghost they bust is slimer who breaks into a public concert, has a story of a loser who tries to be cool like Ric Maranus. GB make headlines, business goes well so they run into trouble with a new threat. Read somewhere it was mobster ghosts. Hoping it will end with a Stay puff battle and Murray as a GB aside from his casulty role.

I had all this shit as a kid. In fact, thats probably why I loved Ghostbusters so much - because I played with all the toys.

Same! I was born some time after Ghostbusters, but I was given all the toys at a very young age by my older cousin. I LOVED the toys, and movies growing up.

So, despite the trailer not being that great, I'm in full nostalgia hype overload mode.

looks alright, nothing i'd ever spend money in a theatre tho (but those are rare for me these days anyway...shits expensive yo)

Star Wars had 1-3 and Special Editions which actually changed the original.

I want to like it but, the visuals are great just the jokes suck and I'm not a fan of any of the actors acting in what I've seen.
But I'll watch if Ozzy's in it.

Looks pretty dope!

Not only do you have pretty funny actresses, but Paul Feig at the helm is wondrous too. Never understood the hate against this yet to be debuted in moving picture movie.

And Maddox has his take:

Yeah...

I think a remake was an impossible task to really get it right.

The original fans have been teased with a sequel with the original cast for like 15 years, and built their expectations on that.

It's like getting teased with a new conker game and getting Young Conker and the Conker game on Spark instead of a new Conker game.

No matter how good it is, you were expecting something else, so the new one is a letdown because it isn't whatever you expected (good luck pinning that down to a consistency for everyone anyway).

Even if it had 4 dudes in it, I think many people would find something to complain about. The only way to make it work with a new cast that wouldn't get people disappointed would have it be a pass the torch movie with the originals effectively hiring the new group.

I think a remake/reboot could actually work. If you look at the Extreme Ghostbusters cartoon, that shows how it could work. And that show was surprisingly pretty good. You bring back one of the Ghostbusters (Ray in this case) and have him as a mentor and it would justify having a younger cast. Other than the fact that the cast just isn't funny, I think they're too old for the part.

Half 'n half. I'm expecting cameo gags.

Considering that Slimer was featured in the trailer, I wouldn't be surprised.

I thought that music was hype. Was expecting worse, but I'll catch this on Netflix for sure. :)

Ay, the revised theme bits they were using sounded great. Would love to hear the full track and see how it plays out.

Looks fun; the time square sequence looks really cool and tickles the 10 year old horror fan inside me.

But the jokes fell flat on me... they were kind of simple? It continues the trend of not actually having any one liners or gags, just awkward conversations between awkward people (which are almost always drawn out to an uncomfortable length of time).

I was split on the trailer.

Visually, it looks great, but the jokes seem to all be slapstick. Hoping the film doesn't forget the fact that the original was a monster movie first and comedy second. This almost looks like it is being marketed as a kids movie.

I seriously hope you said this line about light sabers or star trek phasers.

Both of those movies/franchises either do not take place on earth or are hundreds of years into the future.

This is supposed to take place on earth in 2016.

Look how far computers have come in 30 years. From room filling to the palm of your hand which are thousands of times more powerful.

They still use their proton packs so it looks like the smaller weapons may just be ones that weaken the ghosts before they use the proton packs to 'lasso' them to trap them.

The whole trick to trapping ghosts, which was expanded upon a lot in the game which was supposed to be GB3 story, is that you have to weaken them before you can trap them. In the first film they tire out slimer before finally being able to grab him.

Processing power has come a long way in terms of miniaturization, battery power has not come nearly as far.

No jokes landed for me, visually it looked pretty good though, the ghosts looked like they will be the real star.

But overall, didn't feel it, only thing it did was confirm my assumptions. And my assumptions are bad for this movie.

McKinnon looks funny, at least. And the effects are fun.

So is this NOT a hard reboot anymore? Or is the trailer just super-misleading with the "30 Years Ago" thing.

I can't believe the negativity in this topic. Well, actually I can, but it's still surprising that it feels so one sided. Nobody liked the trailer, honestly? It felt like more ghostbusters to me, and that rules.

Bustin' makes me feel good!

I liked it, Kate was awesome.

So, Holtzman is Egon's estranged daughter, that's taken over the firehouse after the Ghostbusters ran themselves out of business by catching too many ghosts.

If they remade Charlie's Angel to be 4 dudes. Yeah that would be retarded, but they could do it, but I would care more about if it was fun or not.

What if they remade Charlie's Angels as GAY dudes tho? I'd watch it.

way to ruin a great franchise hollywood...

This keeps coming up:

who do you think made it a franchise in the first place

It's not like Ghostbusters was a marvel of independent cinema, you guys.

Almost every time someone wants to complain about Hollywood's lack of originality, it's in regards to a sequel, or a remake of something that was Pure Hollywood Product to begin with.

Too old?

Ramis was 40, Hudson 44, Aykroyd 32 and Murray 34.

Mckinnon is 32 , Mccarthy 45, Wiig 42 and Jones 48.

So it's all in the general range.

And none of them look their age.

Yeah, whoever stuck that bit into the trailer messed up. It antagonizes those who are already prone to hate it and confuses whether this this is a sequel or a reboot. Unnecessary padding when they should have just let the concept hold its own.

This was almost assuredly a deliberate move to market it as a sequel on Sony's part.

There's been a ton of buzz on them being uncertain how to sell the movie - this seems to be a direct result of that.

I was kind of hoping I would at least once laugh or chuckle at a gag or joke but didn't. It's cringe worthy. Maybe kids will like it because it has that straight to DVD thing going for it. You know the shit you put in the car dvd as youre driving them somewhere. I'm sure it will make a little bit of money but they should have left the series alone. This has Indiana Jones 4 written all over it.

Sony should get Carly Rae Jepsen to do a cover of the theme song, it seems it would fit in with the "girl power" theme the movie has going for it.

Anyways, looks fun. McCarthy and Wiig are awesome.
