Ghostbusters (2016) Trailer #1 (Feig, Wiig, McCarthy, McKinnon, Jones)

looks alright, I'm sure it will be a decently entertaining quality movie. On the other hand, the trailer is a bit disappointing, for a Ghostbusters sequel or whatever. And the humor didn't really connect with me

Lol

I missed the movie where Egon walked around with intense swagger, licked guns and was a an all around cocky cool character.

There's nothimg in this that makes me think they're like the same characters.

McCarthy is the one rallying the troops that isn't a Venkman thing to do.

The Ghostbusters may have won the battle, but the underworld stirred and plotted revenge after the events of the second film that saw our brave heroes putting an end to Vigo and making NYC a happier place.

But Rowan, a spirit who had seen two powerful demons fall to the four goons who call themselves 'The Ghostbusters' vowed revenge for ghostly kind. He rose through the ranks of the underworld and managed to wipe the memories of all who'd witnessed the Ghostbusters' victories, even the Ghostbusters themselves.

But what he didn't count on were females getting smart. Smart enough to find paranormal traces and rebuild the weapons and gear he thought were wiped from the world of the living. He gathers his ghastly horde to put an end to this.

"Why couldn't it be the original crew?" Rowan was heard murmuring before he set his plans in motion.

Boom, sequel!

No, silly. She watches the bulk of movies with her grandparents, because they spoil her to no end, and she prefers it. We watch plenty of movies together. This won't be of them (thanks for liking the trailer less than I did, WIFE). Is that ok? Also, lol..she's 18. Stop making things out to be more than it is. Some of y'all are on a mission..😕

And my dad wasn't around, yet I love the originals. I'm guessing girls possess the same power..

That's a better cut of the trailer, but it fails at introducing the characters whatsoever beyond Wiig's. Kind of a catch-22 since they're doing a recut of only trailer footage, though.

Oh yes how can I forget that they shot a scene where Ray gets his dick sucked by a ghost, they had to cut the sequence out for time, and instead made it a dream sequence where... Ray gets his dick sucked by a ghost.

Also, suggesting all they need to do to stop Stay Puft is get him laid, cause you know, he's a sailor.

Ghostbusters is my favorite movie of all time but I'm not gonna act like it and the sequel don't have their share of crass humor in them. People are really reaching for anything and everything they can find to shit on this film, I am NOT envious of anyone working on it. I just hope the idiocy doesn't cause it to crater at the box office.

It was, but the writer left and they dropped it. They set up an entire new studio to pump out Ghostbuster movies, though, so it's not like someone else won't come up with something to fill the hole.
 
The trailer looks meh/safe.

But trailers for comedies make the movie look worse to me than it actually ends up being like 95% of the time.

I was optimistic, now I'm....cautiously optimistic I guess. At the very least, Kate McKinnon is physically incapable of being unfunny IMO.

The continued shitstorm over everything involving this movie continues to be embarrassing/depressing beyond belief. Those youtube dislikes, jesus -_-.
 
I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around (pun not intended) McCarthy's head spinning scene. Is she facing forward holding the other out the window or is she facing Leslie or... ? It's hurting my head based on the sweater/collar area, the positioning of the three women and reaction timing to the head spin. It's odd.

I actually assumed from the trailer and promo stuff that Wiig was the Venkman analog and McCarthy was Stantz by virtue of her being the obsessive ghost hunter of the group. Wiig's character seems semi-legitimate and starts the movie as a professor, which seems more loosely Venkman-like.

Of course, they do still seem like analogs of the originals, so your main point still stands.

Creed and Star Wars have a large level of support from their original cast and creators. Ramis is dead and the star has no interest in being a major contributor.

Robocop and Total Recall were Verhoeven masterpieces of satire. They were then taken and "Hollywoodized" and sanitized into safe, empty, mindless PG-13 action films.

And none of those sequels have the challenges a direct Ghostbusters sequel would of faced. you aren't organically creating a story so much as concocting a series of nostalgia points and working around the various issues such a route faces like Murray, Like Ramis, like the plot elements of GB2.

How? They act nothing like the originals like at all.
 
Damn, that re-cut trailer is pretty good. Making it a bit shorter and tightening up the pace gives it more impact in almost every aspect.

Just removing the intro is a big improvement. I am not against sentiments for nostalgia in advertising, but the misleading intro in the official trailer dragged down the rest of the trailer. They could've handled it so much better.

Her head doesn't do a full 360. She turns it to her right, and it goes around until she's facing completely backwards, and then it snaps back. It never makes a full circle.

Also for people asking why McKinnon licks her gun, it's a gunslinger/hunting thing. You lick your finger and wipe the spit on the sight at the end of your gun to catch the light and help you aim.

Right. But what's odd to me is I guess just bad "special effects" in that she's wearing her sweater backwards during the head backwards part. Because it looks like McCarthy is facing out the window holding onto to the one dangling normally but with her shirt on backwards. I can't see how or why she'd be pinned with her back to the window (as implied) holding onto to her and being put into position to turn her head around to begin with.

No just like fitting into broad archtypes. I don't expect Wiig to be macking on dudes for the whole movie or anything. They're certainly not carbon copies, but it seems like each has a sliver of one of the original busters in them.

I'm guessing it goes like this:

McCarthy is dangling McKinnon out the window. Patty (sorry not familiar with her real name) grabs McCarthy and turns her so they are facing one another, with McCarthy's arm still out the window holding McKinnon. McCarthy twists her head around to look at McKinnon, then snaps it back to look at Patty.

They aren't all fucking scientists, maybe read the thread? One is a professor, one is an author, one is a scientist, one is an average joe. They weren't all scientists in the original either, Winston was just an average joe.

It would not surprise me if the reason she is the driver is because her uncle that gives her the call is Ernie Hudson's cameo. It's one of the most obvious ways they could actually tie it to the story possible.
 
So there is a device amplifying everything.......it's going to be another scene on a top of a building ala Spiderman and TMNT from a few years ago isn't it.

The doorway in the first GB movie was not a device.........it was a door.
 
I wanted to give this a chance. I didn't have a problem with the female cast, and actually think at least 2 are very talented.

This trailer actually made me angry.
