So there is a device amplifying everything.......it's going to be another scene on a top of a building ala Spiderman and TMNT from a few years ago isn't it.

The doorway in the first GB movie was not a device.........it was a door.

You saw Avengers, right?

Imagine that instead of the Chitauri, it's booty ass ghosts

Jesus, Ghostcorps is no joke. They've got Akroyd co-heading it?

Yep.

Something that people don't seem to quite grasp, saying "just let it die", is that EVERYONE wanted to continue making Ghostbusters movies for the past 30 years EXCEPT Bill Murray. Because of the way the rights for the originals worked, they -could not- make a Ghostbusters movie without him, and he did not want to, so they stopped after 2, which they had to force him kicking and screaming through.

Now that they have someone directing that was brave enough to reboot it and get rid of the original cast (something no other writer or directer even attempted in the 20+ years GB3 was in development hell) they aren't tied to that rule and they can finally turn Ghostbusters into the franchise is should have always been and Aykroyd always wanted. Sony isn't fucking around with it, Ghostbusters have IMMENSE franchise potential and they aren't gonna set up an entire new studio run by the creator and old director just for one movie. Unless they're fucking terrible and ruin the brand name expect a lot of Ghostbusters sequels from now on.

30 years ago:

4 Scientists brawled with a ghost.

Now:

3 female scientists/engineers and 1 subway worker, "You guys are good at this science stuff but I know New York" token black woman. Who also is the fucking driver.

Fuckin' what? Y'all serious with this?

Also, Winston wasn't a scientist, he just answered the help wanted ad. It should have said 3 scientists. But I'm sure they only said 4 to not leave anyone out.

Not feeling it.

Maybe its just a bad trailer? I dunno. Something about it just rubbed me the wrong way. The tone is way off..

They aren't all fucking scientists, maybe read the thread? One is a professor, one is an author, one is a scientist, one is an average joe. They weren't all scientists in the original either, Winston was just an average joe.

It would not surprise me if the reason she is the driver is because her uncle that gives her the call is Ernie Hudson's cameo. It's one of the most obvious ways they could actually tie it to the story possible.

Are you serious with your assessment?

Oh I'm sorry, here let me fix my post:
1 white female author.
1 white female engineer.
1 white female professor.
1 black female subway worker. Who is shown in the trailer saying "I'm not good at this science like you!"

If you think I got the wrong idea maybe you should blame the marketing or trailer cut.

I know Winston was the token black guy in Ghostbusters. All the others had jobs in a University or something. (I could be remembering that wrong) My point is could they really not rewrite the only black character to not just be the one to "know New York"? Do we really have to follow tradition that closely? It rubs me the wrong way.

But I'll be fair, it's not the movie's job to be diverse. I just hoped for something different

I will concede on the driver part. The cameo would make sense I guess? You would know better than me.

Oh yeah. This is the touchstone for more of anything Ghostbusters. Everything starts here. If it works, Ghostcorps is ready with the script for the proposed Tatum/Pratt film, which probably doesn't have them attached anymore and a sequel for this.

Aykroyd's onboard because he's wanted to do more Ghostbusters for yearrrrrrs. Sony said, "Make it happen."

Sorry if this has already been posted...I did a search for "recut" and "youtube" in this thread and couldn't find it.

The real trailer fell flat for me, but this is better, IMHO. I'm back to being tentatively excited.

Huh. That cut does work better than the original.

Man, I liked the trailer. The only thing I didn't like was the last joke. Everything else was great

So just because they're women you have to compare it Bridesmaids, and not the zillions of other sci-fi comedies out there?

Nothing to do with women, its just stupid slapstick comedy. Same director, same actors, its not hard to see the similarities.

All it needs is slimer shitting in a sink joke and the circle is complete.

Ghostbusters is my favorite movie of all time but I'm not gonna act like it and the sequel don't have their share of crass humor in them. People are really reaching for anything and everything they can find to shit on this film, I am NOT envious of anyone working on it. I just hope the idiocy doesn't cause it to crater at the box office.

That's the only thing that will ruin the box office of the movie is if it is a bad movie, If it turns out to be great than I can see sequels. This first trailer doesn't give me alot of hope but I like the cast and the director so fingers crossed that it is good.

Edit: That recut version of the trailer is better.

Finally watched it with sound. Even though its a different type of humor than the original movies, I think it looks pretty funny. I'll watch it.

Yep, that is Ghostbusters.

I don't really care about Ghostbusters as an IP, so the trailer did nothing for me. Have no interest in seeing this, even if it's great.

Angry joe sums up my feelings perfectly

Turning an amazing series like ghostbusters into the next bridesmaid

That intro even caught Joe off guard. He thinks it is a direct sequel as well.

I assumed I would have the same reaction as Joe when I saw the trailer initially. But I dunno, I am actually fine with what I see so far. Maybe I just set myself up with completely different expectations and what I saw fell in line with what I was expecting to see?

Why do the special effects from the 80s look better than the ones from 2016? It looks bad. I wish it looked good but I can't lie.

I still think it looks like the 2009 game, with all the bright neon colours:

But yeah, the bright neons are a little distracting. the old movies did have some pretty cool optical effects for their days, even though some of the ghosts (mostly in the second one) did look a little cartoony. Here's a great little sequence from the first movie:

I love the reaction on the ghost when he is flailing his arms around in the trap. It must have been a combination of rotoscoping and hand animation.

I'm all right with this.

As a huge Ghostbusters fan, I'm not only glad we're getting a movie, but I have faith in this crew to make it a comedy, but keep it grounded. The supernatural creatures look pretty fucking awesome, though I hope they're not all cut from the same concept art.

I also...did...like the music...the quiet "Jurassic World" like Ghostbusters theme in the middle and yes, even the dubstep song.

Also, I'm glad I'm not the only one: http://www.eonline.com/news/745712/...d-with-kate-mckinnon-s-ghostbusters-character

Color correcting in film. I actually just had this conversation with a friend a few days ago and he said it's because of all the color correction and shit they put movies through makes the CG stand out more.

Looks great, I'd love to see the reaction to this movie if it was starring dudes.

Ehhhh...the trailer is -not- good at all, beyond the big stuff they showed of the Times Square showdown. The issue with Jones's character would still be there. The comedy would still not land too well.

McKinnon's character would probably also get the exact opposite reaction it is now :p

You guys do know that GHOSTBUSTERS 1 and 2 were both comedies with cheesy jokes, right?

Right?
And? It's not like comedy can't be good or bad or target different audiences.

The original Ghostbusters was a comedy. But it was clever comedy. The Scooby Doo movies are also comedies. This reboot reminds me more of that childish kind of comedy.

Man that looks awesome, I knew it was going to end up looking good. Feige hasn't been letting me down lately, looks like im going to enjoy it like Spy. Can't wait. Haters who didn't like this from the first "all women Ghostbusters' announcement are not going to change their mind no matter what so fuck em.

Um, can you even get your hate correct? Winston wasn't a scientist, he was just a hired on Ghostbuster halfway through the film. Venkman wasn't technically a scientist either.
