Now what's the next step in your master plan?

From the directors of Bolt and Wreck It Ralph I figured the movie would be entertaining but it seems its actually excellent all around from the reviews coming in. Its nearly unanimous praise from on all fronts that its both very funny for both children and adults but also deals with some topical and touchy issues, especially for a family friendly animated film, including racial stereotyping, the "us" vs "them" mentality, and so on. Perhaps we have the first huge animated film of the year! If nothing else furries will have a new banner film to celebrate! ;D

Man, it's crazy how great Disney's 3D animation films have become. Another winner. Can't wait to see this later this weekend.

They're beating out Pixar which is really wacky thinking about it.

Inside Out was a great return to form, tho.

No idea why but after all the trailers and pushes it was getting I thought it was gonna be hot garbage. Glad to see at least reviewers didn't think so, I might give it a shot and go see it in theaters

The Good Dinosaur was the first major animated film we skipped in theaters in as long as I can remember. Kid just wasn't interested in at all. Conversely, she will drag us to the theater tomorrow if she has to. She's dying to see this.

The John Lasseter effect... I believe they also moved a lot of the other Pixar talent to their Disney proper studios... it's no coincidence that in that time, Pixar movies suffered while Disney Animation Studios has been on the upswing (fairly certain of their last 5 CG movies, their lowest has been an 88 on RT).

Zootopia loses its 100% Rotten Tomatoes rating due to a reviewer opposed to "cultural diversity"...

The furries have infiltrated the critic class.

Honestly i haven't seen the appeal from the commercials at all, but clearly there's something very special here.

Dying to see it, but won't see it in theaters unless it's a screening where I don't need to put up with kids.

Read the "rotten" review...not sure what she's getting at but haven't seen the film so can't comment, but the idea of racism and islamaphobia isn't really being brought up by other critics that I've seen so maybe her review is saying more about her worldview?.

The comments on the one bad review are hilarious. That lady made a goof. Also, the review is really really bad.

So excited to see this movie this weekend.

I didn't even know that came out.

I guess that speaks volumes about how it did.

So excited to see this movie this weekend.

"From Aesop’s Fables to Franklin the Turtle, animals have always been used to coach young people on how they should behave. But as Zootopia busily tells the kids not to stereotype different groups and to love everybody, it creates a city in which some creatures fear that others are inherently savage.

That’s a pretty close match for both America’s historic racism and its new Islamophobia."

^From the negative review.. can someone help me understand this sentiment?

I think Good Dino took an unfair beating, too. It wasn't typical Pixar / Disney, but it was a damn good movie.

Can't wait to see Zootopia though...looks great.

Haven't loved a Disney animated feature since Tangled, everything about this movie looks great though. I expected it to review well but I'm shocked at just how well it's being received. I've got high hopes for it!

Not surprised, really! I've seen that sloth trailer a couple times in theater and it always kills. Looking forward to seeing this.

That review doesn't seem to oppose cultural diversity at all; it's confusingly written but she seems to be suggesting that using animals is innapropriate for some reason. She seems to think it draws uncomfortable parallels between real racism in American but doesn't really explain why it should bother parents.

Glad to know I'm not the only one it confused..

It seems to be trying to make a point through hints and suggestions but never comes out and bluntly states what specific issues the author has with the content in the film. Just dances around some vague criticism.

I still don't get it. When stories involve animals that treat species as stereotypes I don't hear anyone complaining. And now, for the first time ever, I find someone complaining that wanting diversity is problematic because... of animals? I just don't get it. Maybe I'm a stupid furry apologist but I think the critic tried and succeeded at making themselves relevant by being the first one to give it a sub 50% score (or a thumbs down? I don't know how RT works, never go there myself).

It seems like this lady isn't hating on the movie for being a positive for cultural diversity, but is instead saying it's troubling saying "animals" want cultural diversity.

Obviously the movie isn't saying that, but she's taking the metaphor to be just that, that only "animals" would want cultural diversity.

Thanks for this, I think I'm understanding the point she was trying to make a little better.

And it's still incredibly stupid.

Should note that it currently has a 8/10 average rating which below some of Pixar's films that have scored in the upper 90s. Inside out has a 9/10 average rating. This more like How to Train Your Dragon.

Watched this a while a go, it's really good. It's a buddy cop movie, reminded me of Rush Hour, but with animals and aimed at a younger audience.

I think I may have liked Inside Out (and BH6) more, but not by much. Zootopia is very good and very much worthy of all the praise it's getting. Disney is on fire.
