Stardew Valley |OT| Resting Under a Harvest Moon [Up: now on PS4]

Here's how to permanently remove the time of day progression:

1) Download JustDecompile: http://www.telerik.com/products/decompiler.aspx
2) Open JustDecompile and look for the Plugins section -> Plugin Manager
3) Download Assembly Editor
4) Open the Stardew Valley executable
5) Click "Search" in the toolbar of JustDecompile and look for "performTenMinuteUpdate" in the Game1 class.
5) Click "Plugins" in the toolbar and select Reflexil.
6) Look for the "ldc.i4.s" instruction
7) Right click and select edit, replace 10 by 0.
8) Right click "Stardew Valley" in the list on the left (top node), select "Reflexil v1.8" and "Save As"

You're done ! You have a new executable with the patched code.

I can make a video if anyone is interested. I did this mainly so I can keep the game open while working. :)

Next step will be to inject code so that the progression returns to normal when a key combination is pressed.

Now that I played 6 hours straight last night, I see why the game doesn't have a manual save. It's a bit nefarious, but i see it now.

It makes you not want to stop. Because you can't quit until you finish the game. And then it's a new day and there's all sorts of stuff to do and you don't want to forget about stuff... so you keep playing. And then you wait until the end of the day again so you don't lose your progress.

"A train is passing through Stardew Valley"

Why is this mentioned? I booked it to the train station [incidentally discovered the town has a huge swimming pool for seemingly no reason] but the train was already on its way out.

The swimming pool is the hot bath, it's there as a free option to replenish your hp and energy

It just lets you know that a train is passing through the valley. Items, like coal and copper ore, occasionally fall off the train and you can pick them up. You have to be there for the items to spawn.

It's relatively inconsequential, so you don't have to rush to the train station.

For those who missed my post above, you can get more clay by using your hoe and digging in the mine dirt. Around level 10 I believe.

Also, what are people's best fishing spots? I get almost exclusively gold star fish throwing my line into the ocean on the docks. However, fishing in the river in town near the entrance to the beach as well as in the area near the Museum/Library only nets me silver star or no-star fish. Is there a spot that gives gold star river fish?

I'm beginning to wonder maybe the level you are in fishing only applies to one group of fish (say, ocean fish) and not the other.

All right, this should more or less be my final setup for my farm (until I get bored with it).

And the grenhouse...

In case you're wondering about the weird diagnol crop/sprinkler setup in the middle there (in both the actual farm and greenhouse), its something someone on Reddit came up with when you want to use sprinklers on the trellis-type crops (aka, the ones you can't walk on). It just uses the regular sprinklers, and its pretty ingenious, honestly.

Debating where I should stick the slime building, probably in that big empty spot in the middle. I'm consistently making profit from my greenhouse, so I'm not really going for the "make insane amounts of cash in a short period of time" method. I'm just happy to just grow a variety of crops.

Got really lucky those mushroom trees are just group together like that on the left.

Probably also gonna just do some landscape work and plop down some grass all over the empty plots to make things look nicer.

Linus is my bro at 9 hearts. He keeps giving me awesome recipes.

Meanwhile, Shane at 5 hearts pawns off things he doesn't want to me. What a bro!

I made friends with Sandy and she keeps on giving me milk lol. I'll not ask where it's from but it gets turned into cheese and passed into the shipping container.

Anyone know how to get the 'slower time' exe to work with the beta version of the game? I'm guessing the mod needs to be updated to work, but not entirely sure.

Yeah, that happened to some after patch 1.02 (I think). He added a fix for those who didn't get a pet at all, but for some it meant getting two.

Oh okay, thanks. I'm not complaining anyway.

Probably been asked but are you able to play forever, or is there no real point after the 3 year mark?

Been debating for days now if I should get it or not. Hate games that rush me though.
(Probably why I never beat Recettear, always worried I won't make enough. Love the whole owning an item shop thing though.)

There is a beta version? What does it do more then the release?

It's the 1.05 update that broke some stuff for some people, so the main game reverted back to 1.04 and the beta version now has 1.05. The full changelog is here.
I'm mainly using it for the zoom feature that allows you to zoom out without messing with resolutions.

Is there a real basics mechanics guide somewhere? I'm assuming XP is based on stuff shipped, but I'm not entirely sure.

There's no central form of XP. Each individual skill you have gains seperate XP based on what you do with them. As far as I know, shipping stuff doesnt affect XP.

http://stardewvalleywiki.com/Skills

There's only a chart in that link for Farming, but I'm assuming all the skills work in the same way (everything you do gets +8 XP, and all require the same amount of XP to level up)

Stopped for the day. Still in fall.

- Built about 30 caskets into my maxed out barn. Might build 3 more later on as I've filled out the space that can spare it without occupying the whole space so if I ever wanna get animals I can. Didn't realize that the maxed out barns have an automatic hay dispenser, that's useful. If hay is made cheaper I'll consider getting animals again. I'd get 2 of each animal type, but it won't happen anytime soon, maybe year 3 I'd consider it.

- Each full batch of my cranberries makes 45Kg so as long as I'm above 100k by the time winter comes I'll be happy, and that should happen easily. I might fully max out the coop too because why not I have the money.

- Had my first child, a daughter. I guess that once she's out of the crib and sleeping in one of the beds I can have the second child, because my spouse's gifts per week bars have been removed to max out her affection to 12 hearts again.

I'm slowly approaching the point in the game I'll be speeding up days by sleeping until shit happens. I already know I'm not gonna max out the community center, some of the items it requires is too much of a hassle for me.

I think Spring I need to plant my strawberries and whatever else I can plant. That's basically it. Year 3 will be sped up by quite a lot.

I'm at fall 22 in year 1 and thanks to my bee houses and fairy roses, I'm pulling 15k-30k in fairy rose honey a day.

Bee houses are OP as hell

If it's repeatable definitely let the dev know, maybe upload a save or something (assuming 1.05 doesn't fix it). ConcernedApe is remarkably quick to patch the game.

Gotta say, going from XCOM 2 (which has had one hotfix in about a month and nothing else) to this (which has had multiple fixes, sometimes in the same day) has been eye-opening. I'd forgotten what a rapid response is actually like.

Indie pipelines, especially one-man pipes, must be so freeing compared to a publisher pipeline

For those of you who might have had the same problems I've had here:

Oh man, some of the tiles on my farm seems to be bugged, its not being affected by my hoe.

Posted it on the subreddit's bug report thread already.

I won't be playing till this gets fixed, since this is on day 1 of spring and I can't plant my shit if I can't freaking hoe the tile. Guess I'll be playing something else in the meanwhile.

I have found a DIY solution involving editing your save file.

1) Go to C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\StardewValley\Saves
2) BACK UP your save file
3) Go to Steam, right click on Stardew Valley > Properties > Under the Updates tab, uncheck Enable Steam Cloud synchronization for Stardew Valley
4) In the Save folder, you should have a file with your character's name followed by a bunch of numbers (example: Jonny_11287683). Open that file with a text editor like Notepad.
5) Ctrl+F, search for -100. Find the <item> tag before and </item> tag after the -100 and delete the entire batch. It should look like this:
<item><key><Vector2><X>46</X><Y>26</Y></Vector2></key><value><TerrainFeature xsi:type="Tree"><growthStage>21</growthStage><treeType>1</treeType><health>-100</health><flipped>true</flipped><stump>true</stump><tapped>false</tapped><hasSeed>false</hasSeed></TerrainFeature></value></item>
After you are done, save the file.
6) You can now turn the Stead Cloud synchronization back on.

Alternatively, if you can access the Beta version of the game on steam, the problem is already resolved over there. The beta keeps crashing for me unfortunately (runtime error) so I had to resort to this instead.

Journey of the Prairie King gets tough.

Also, don't press ESC while playing it.

Play when the TV broadcast says you have good luck for the day. There's also luck food recipe for +3 Luck, but I haven't tried how big the effect on the minigame is. In any case, you should get more bonus item & gold drops from what I hear. Having enough gold to buy the upgrades is mandatory if you wish to beat the game.

Bought tonight and I already played nearly 90 minutes (~3 in-game days). Devious that there's no manual save, cause there's so much stuff TO DO when you have full energy after the night's sleep. Just makes you want to keep playing.

Yes, high luck makes a big difference from my observations.

Any tips on making money? lol

working towards the 24 item backpack worth 5,000.

Fishing isn't doing the trick at this pace..

EDIT:

There's seems to be a noise around town that pops up here and there. What is that?

"I'll just finish this day up and go to bed to save. Oh well let me just check on my crops quick. Look at how much they've grown. I better water them. Well now that I'm up I should probably go into town... etc"

It's devious indeed.

I'd just do something like this...

T = trellis crop
R = regular crop
S = iridium sprinkler

TTTTT
RRRRR
TTSTT
RRRRR
TTTTT

Seems much simpler.

Ok I'm a little lost, I completed the bundle for the boiler room and it said that was supposed to fix the minecarts but they're still out of order?

Huh? There's a million on steam? And PCgamer reviewed. I don't get what you mean?

I mean the bigger websites. I find it odd that this has such strong word of mouth...yet a lot of sites like IGN haven't even mentioned it. Shouldnt the publsher have sent out review copies?

So now I'm learning from my classic mistake of just putting everything in one safe and having to make safes for each type of item and move everything into them one by one
