I am absolutely loving this game, the detail that the went into the world is amazing. Loving every bit, I really like getting lost in the city and exploring, making my way onto rooftops or alleyways.

Anyways here is my noob, 7h in only lv6 :)

Same here. Its a very believable post-apocalyptic world and makes you feel like you're there.

survived an EPIC level 5 manhunt with my 4 man group.. and all we got was $500 DZ credits.. was hoping for an achievement, or some epic loot..

23 hours played now

Still lvl 15

Fuck leveling, I sit in the Dark Zone for hours with my friends, it's just too fun.
DZ Rank 18 now.

The reward of going rogue are the items you stole.
If you steal no items and go rogue, don't expect a reward.

You don't get rewarded for random killing that easily.

I'm right there with you. Love this game and get lost easily in this world.

Right? from the NPC at the window that cheer you on, from the NPC that walk the streets and if you walk by them you hear their struggles, they are hungry, they want to go steal from dead, they want some smokes. It's impressive honestly, the work that went into the found footage which can be disturbing the little nods to how an infection spreads through phone calls and echos.

I have only been to two sections of the city but if the rest holds up good lord did Massive do a great job here.

well we didn't steal any items, our team went rogue from accidental crossfire and then we had to kill everyone who was trying to kill us, which took us to level 5.

I think if you got *rewarded* simply for going Rogue, the DZ would probably be pure Kill On Sight insanity :P

Pair up with a dude. He fires a stray bullet and strikes a player. Que a wild 10 minutes trying to run from everyone and slowing building up more notoriety because you're just trying to survive.

Die. Almost lose a DZ level and a few hundred credits.

:/ Not worth it going rogue yo, even if it's on accident.

I actually killed someone earlier during a big fight with NPCs and he was cool about it. Ended up reviving me after and everything.

So about matchmaking it can be done on any mission including sides, right?

Can't invest proper time until this weekend so I'm left mucking around for a bit and trying piece together the rules...cause god forbid the give a instuction manual..online out of the game will do..

One thing I don't like is that you can't see each others weapon mods or camos, I understand that in the dark zone with more players, but your group should be able to see them.

Er. That's definitely not true. You can see the weapons mods of people not even in your group (in the safe houses at least).

I just started up in The Cavern safe house and the two people I appeared next to had silencers on their assault rifles (Omega by the look of it) and one had what looks like a holographic sight.

So far

1 1/2 hours with my two lvl 15 buddies in the DZ.

25 blue items extracted, my friend found a purple.
Bought some stuff from vendors too.
Ran into other players two times, snuck past them and left them to their own devices.

This god damn game.

The DZ in the beta had no NPCs and was all "high five a player around every corner"
This DZ now? The NPCs run that place
.

Yeah, no doubt. Me and my friends feel like The Warriors just trying to get back to Coney Island running through the DZ and keep bumping into the next gang.

The Dark Zone is at it's best when nobody is matchmaking. Because from there, ultimately you're responsible for your own actions, and you're not bogged down by the action of others. Furthermore, it allows the game to speak for itself in regards to working together. You simply matchmake on your own - except now friendly fire is a concern.

For example, I saw some guy fighting off some higher level enemies at a division tech zone. He was downed. I could have just killed him and taken his loot, but I was also underleveled against those enemies and I knew that if I wanted the rewards I needed this guy's help, and he needed mine. So I came in and revived him, and we worked together and killed them and got the loot. In that sense, the trust was earned. We figured we might as well just travel together and help each other out, and ultimately we achieved the same as if we were playing online co-op. It feels far more worthwhile and organic, you established trust with somebody that's why you paired up with him. But at the same time, if your temporary co-op buddy crosses, the line, you're aren't held responsible and I can put him in his place if I so choose to because I don't approve of his actions. It's like the perfect uneasy alliance going on, whereas if you match-make co-op with a PSN friend, it's like you're bound to the hip with each other. Let's match make and just gang up on everyone, just cus "we're friends on PSN."

I don't know, one feels more organic, earned, and rewarding with far more tension, the other feels too "gamey" and sort of devalues the dark zone.

Where did you get all the blues, I'm lvl 10 and have 1 blue gun and 1 blue armor.

Bumming around the city...

and some tag along with higher level friends, but they are out there.

Edit. First one I got was when I went into Chelsea and there was a latter on the left, just followed it.

but that sounds like a super fun time. Fuck the reward :P

Would anyone like to run around clean up side quests and encounters at lvl 8 on ps4?

HainesGTO add me

Ive tried free roam matchmaking and not had good success

At first I was trying to rush with this game but now I'm taking it slow. I'll probably knock out one area (supplies mission, side mission, and 1 main mission) a day. Right now I'm at level 17. Can't wait to hit 30 to just go into the DZ for good.

I'm soloing this and feel like I'm hitting a brick wall in terms of doing missions at my level, tried the level 14 level mission and can't even get past the first real battle, guess I'll have to retry it once I hit 15.

HOLY SHIT

I was playing and it started raining like hell, so I decided to turn everything off (except the laptop) and there's a lot of lightning now O_o crazy stuff

Why is it sometimes I can "collect" an echo, and some times I cant? Do I need to do something while inside an echo to make it collectible?

How's the story and role playing aspect of the game?

Reviews are taking for fucking ever.

I mean, I wouldn't buy it just to play through it like a single player rpg personally, never would have.

The story is better than I expected going in, certainly more interesting than Destiny's, but it's mostly presented in a passive way since it's a primarily multiplayer experience, so it's not a lot of cutscene oriented stuff, but instead you need to listen to the radio calls you get/mission details as they happen, and watch and listen to all of the intel and echoes you find. The echoes especially are a fucking awesome way to tell a story in this kind of game imo, it feels interactive even though it's basically just an audio log played over a still image.

All told: It has an arc, it makes sense, it makes weird aspects of the game like the dark zone even make sense (which is a big plus to me), but it's not remotely a 'story' you'd want from a standard rpg romp.
