I agree with this guy on MSNBC, I'm so goddamn tired of the South controlling the fate of this country. The whole Southern Strategy, the South controlling primaries and Elections. Why is one of the most arguably backwards regions of the United States able to exert so much control over the U.S.?

Huh? The south doesn't control the fate of this country.... Obama cleaned up electorally without it in the last two elections

Is this another one of those complaints about how much influence black people in the south have?

Specifically this one I made just for you

lol well alright then, thanks

Just voted in Ohio. Huge stack of Democrat ballots, almost nothing left of Republican. Heard them calling officials to say they were running out again.

MSNBC saying democrats voting kasich to stop trump

Dumbass Democrats strike again. They did the same in Michigan and it cost Hillary the state and Trump still won. Also if Democrats are smart they would want to go against Trump. It's an easy win. I'm a democrat, but it seems like they can snatch defeat from the jaws of victory every time.

I guess that's a borderline swing state now, though it's still got a pronounced GOP tilt, so it's basically gravy for any Democrat who wins it, not really comparable to Florida.

Effectively, yes.

Is Florida really considered part of the South? I'd always thought of it as its own weird thing.

I really dislike this type of message - it's Reddit Bernie supporter code for 'enlightened northern white liberals are more important than low information southern black voters' (of course, neither the 'enlightened' nor 'low information' parts are true). I don't like the idea of treating some Democrats as less important than others - we're the big tent party, and we should act like it.

LOL, what a loser. This guy is obviously not fit to be president. When Trump is president, we're going to win. This guy doesn't even WANT to win. He likes losing so much he wants to stay in the race just so he can keep doing it. Little Rubio. This guy couldn't make a deal to save his life. If someone wanted to convince him to play Russian Roulette, he'd probably agree to put a bullet in all 6 chambers as long as he got to go first. That's not a deal folks. When Trump is president there won't even be any Russian Roulette, that's what kind of deals we're going to have.

It's going to be ridiculous how much we win.

The process already does this anyway. Southern states in the Dem primary are given less weight than they would have in the electoral college.

My only concern with Trump is that we might win too much. I don't want to get sick of winning. Good thing there's a 2 term limit.

Arizona? No. Hawaii? Doubt it.

Unless he wins those states by a landslide, he won't be in any better situation.

Mostly smaller states by smaller margins - not enough to shift the balance significantly. Most of the remaining large states are still looking good for Hillary, and even dramatic shifts toward Bernie wouldn't make them blowouts.

There's just not enough people feeling the Bern to make up that kind of delegate deficit, especially when Bernie is falling further behind in his delegate targets, even in states he's 'winning'.

He could win every state that's left in the primary, but if he only wins by 1-3 points it won't matter.

I don't argue the math isn't there as things stand now, I just mean if perception changes radically after a line of victories the votes may follow. I'm just using New York as the point where I stop worrying.

Regardless, I don't see him taking CA unless Hillary is in jail.
this is a joke

Rubio really going to ride this out tho huh?

Props to him I guess, but he's already lost the GOP nomination for POTUS in 2016, his chance at re-election as a Senator in 2016, and effectively his shot at Governor of Florida in 2018.

How much more damage can he do to himself, I wonder?

The process already does this anyway. Southern states in the Dem primary are given less weight than they would have in the electoral college.

But that's because there are Democrats are a smaller proportion in the south, right? Is there additional bias beyond that?

I am Black and live in one of the Swing States but nice of you to infer about my opinion on black people. Maybe you should just keep passive-aggressive comments to yourself about what my post infers.

We really need to stop this implicit thing of 'if the south don't vote for my candidate they must be dumb, low iq, backward, etc'. It's been said before in many different ways and it's doesn't help at all to have a civil discussion in here.

The GOP has a problem with southern voters. The Dems? Not so much.

In fact the issue is the opposite; NH and Iowa being Lilly white states that don't really follow the demographic makeup of the Democratic party or the US really.

Bernie isn't losing because of the South. Bernie is losing because he hasn't made inroads into any demographic besides the youth vote and ultra liberal as a little known independent senator from the far reaches of Vermont.

Hell, he's over preforming what was expected.

But that's because there are Democrats are a smaller proportion in the south, right? Is there additional bias beyond that?

Yes. It's basically a reflection of those states being less relevant to a Dem GE strategy with a few exceptions (Florida, Virginia, NC).

Truth is there should just be one big primary nationwide then elections. Its not a local issues driven thing its national.

Then maybe explain what you mean because your post doesn't make any sense in the primary or the national election unless you want to completely disenfranchise voters. There are only a couple of swing states in the south.

That wouldn't benefit any movement by lesser known candidates. In that scenario, even if you scheduled it late into the year, the bigger name would win.

On the other hand that would make it nearly impossible for smaller candidates to gain traction.

Right, Bernie would have been crushed in national primary if was all held at one time. A good portion of his strength has been in the state by state caucus syStem. What really needs to happen is more states need to happen at once and they should all be primaries. Caucuses don't make any sense in this day and age

Exactly what I said, why does the South and it's opinions as a regions get talked about way more than any other region of the United States? Why is the Southern Strategy a thing? It seems unfair to me that the South gets all this fixation over everywhere else.

Anything anyone else is reading about my opinion on black people or the uneducated is something they added themselves and says more about them I think.

Bernie isn't losing because of the South. Bernie is losing because he hasn't made inroads into any demographic besides the youth vote and ultra liberal as a little known independent senator from the far reaches of Vermont.
That's interesting to me (thought not necessarily what I'm asking) because Trump is a Big Business guy from New York.

How does being from up in the North translate as not being palatable to voters in the South, especially when we have Trump sweeping it all up?

Truth is there should just be one big primary nationwide then elections. Its not a local issues driven thing its national.

This would actually be bad for candidates like Bernie - an 'all at once' primary favors the candidate with more name recognition, and I say that as a Hillary supporter whose candidate would stand to benefit.

Truth is there should just be one big primary nationwide then elections. Its not a local issues driven thing its national.

If this happened, Trump would be the Nominee because he would have taken the party by storm in one night with no chance of retaliation.

You do realize why he is doing this, right? It is because the next time he runs for president again he can say that he fought till the very end.
