Seriously tho, I went into this with the hope that Bernie would keep Hillary honest, and he's doing that pretty well. Remember he was a 3% nobody. Good man, message, work.

Trump is probably going to challenge Hillary to real life meat space mortal kombat.

I mean MSNBC just made a good point. A candidate hasn't resonated with young voters (outside of Obama I think he said) like Bernie has since the 60s. A lot of young people have a whole new way of thinking of politics in America. It's exciting to me.

So, what are the odds Kasich is being groomed for that contested convention these days?
He just hired two consultants today who specialize in contested convention rules and procedure.

So if he can get a big endorsement or two from the likes of Romney or Bush, I'd say those odds are high.

I honestly don't understand these Trump vs Clinton hypotheticals. If someone hasn't made up their mind already on Trump they must be living under a rock. They also probably wouldn't vote for Clinton anyway.

Trump is good at thinking on his feet, whereas Hillary puts her foot in her mouth every time she tries to say something which isn't rehearsed beforehand. Her Reagan gaffe was particularly appalling.

If Hillary can engage Trump on her terms during the debates and try to beat him with policy discussion, she wins. If Trump can draw her into a more impromptu conversation which plays more into personality and quick-thinking replies, all bets are off.

Fortunately for Hillary, her arguments usually come from places of human decency, which is more than Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio and their ilk can claim.

It's really as simple as this:

People like to see a candidate they support win.

It's also overly reductive to focus only a candidate's positions, and not consider their efficacy or how much you think they can get out of meetings with other world leaders, etc etc... and I strongly favor Clinton there.

Clinton I feel is more presidential, and that matters when trying to sell voters on a tax raise.

I may be wrong in this, but I think Clinton has a better chance of passing policy that brings us further to the left than we are now than Sanders.

If you only look at the issues you aren't really thinking about how equipped someone is to actually do the job of president, and that's got to be part of any reasonable decision on who to vote for.

I get that. That's perfectly fine. I just don't like seeing other Dems rooting for him to fail.

That's all I'll say about this because I'm just repeating myself.

It's the the most insane thing how democrats hate someone so progressive/left and consistent/authentic. especially here at gaf lol.

So Britain gets David Cameron and America will soon get Hillary.

Well...

latest

I'm not even American, but Hillary just makes me uncomfortable.

Give me everything for free is a pretty easy message to sell.

I still don't quite get how people can be this excited for a Clinton presidency. Relief and acceptance are emotions I'd expect from people, but not this kind of enthusiasm.

So what about the folks here that were rooting for her to get indict so Bernie would win?

Well, like I said earlier there's issues he's not so progressive on as well. Dude's not exactly the liberal messiah. For example, his stances, and records, on gun control and free trade are crap.

Her being close enough is not my point.

It's so called progressives actively cheering his demise. A candidate running on a single payer? Free college? Loudly proclaiming trickle down economics is crap? That's gaf's wet dream.

Liking Hillary for one reason or another is fine. Vote for who you want. But loudly cheering against a person running on those platforms just hurts my brain if you're a Democrat.

I never said this.

I want to advance socialist policies in America.

I think Hillary Clinton is the best candidate to do this, so I'm happy that she won.

Nobody hates Bernie. He's adorable and has some good ideas.

Some Bernie supporters have soured the idea of his campaign a bit in peoples minds.

But I don't think you can point to anyone on GAF that vehemently HATES Bernie Sanders, or to a Hillary supporter who'd say "I guess I have to vote 3rd party" if Bernie would have won.

I think this was a case of some Bernie Supporters being obnoxious to some Gaffers and they in turn took it out on the guy himself even though he did nothing to deserve it.

So what about the folks here that were rooting for her to get indict so Bernie would win?
They're being petty and stupid too.

He's 100% right on guns. Right on healthcare.

It's almost like these amazing thing called opinions lead us to different conclusions. I do not agree with Bernie's stance on guns. I do not agree with him on trade. I do not trust him when it comes to foreign policy.

Bernie may be right for you, and that's great! I hope you vote for him, volunteer for him or do what makes you satisfied with the result of the primary. That's what's great about this process. Bernie is not right for me, and that doesn't make me not a far left liberal.

You mean idiots? Yeah, there are some on gaf for sure and some happen to be Bernie supporters. But it's definitely not some kind of trend. In fact I don't recall the last time I saw somebody say that, that wasn't laughed out of the thread.

I've been a supporter of hers since 2008. I think she'll make a fantastic President and she has a much better chance to push through progressive policies than Bernie ever did. President Hillary will be dope.

We still have posters here that are calling her a Republican in sheep's clothing.

In this and just about every other primary thread.

Bernie supporters do it just ad much. It's just politics. Where you can call people on their BS is when they say they'll support trump or not vote in the general if Sanders wins.

I think if a Republican became president it would be more likely to affect you personally what with many of them wanting war.

Obama's foreign policy already affected us to an extent anyway. I was hoping at least with Bernie, he'd take a more stand-back approach. Hillary's foreign policy has been described as a 'war hawk' and our government has waste no time trying to support America into anything they want cause of 'our special relationship'.

It's fucked up. I'm not happy in the slightest of Hillary.

Well, ignoring how exciting it is to get the Clinton's back in the whitehouse, and ignoring how exciting it is that a woman looks favored to win in November, she's the sort of politician I think we need right now.

A deal cutting pragmatist ala Underwood (though not a multiple murderer) that can get things done, and keep fighting to protect the things Obama has achieved, while picking more liberal Supreme Court justices than the ones retiring or passing away.

I mean, how's that not exciting? Obama brought us more to the left (or the middle if you prefer). Clinton is as close as there is going to be to to a third Obama term, and I'd be excited about that too.

Trump's slight lead in MO just got smaller, but still up by 1600 votes. All the more devastating for Cruz if he loses MO. Trump gets some bonus delegates if he wins.

I know NBC / MSNBC called it for Trump, but waiting on CNN.

Maybe if Bernie had a real skill, like professional falling down stairs -ING, he'd be higher in the polls.

He needs to make Larry David his chief of staff

Well, I mean let's stop this idea that a liberal is a singular thing. You can be a conservative on foreign policy, a conservative on economic policy, but a liberal on social policy. And within those categories there are infinite gradations.

I do find it weird anyone would trust Hillary over Bernie on foreign policy though. She voted for the Iraq War, after all.

Do you see who the GOP is putting out there? Is it shocking to see a Dem candidate that people feel confident can hold her own in a general election versus a racist media master in Trump and a religious zealot and scumbag fuck in Cruz?

Do you see the Supreme Court possibilities? Do you see the racist, LGBT hating, fuck your social support, and fuck you I got mine rhetoric of the current GOP?

On those grounds, yeah, I'm pretty excited about Hillary and her chances this cycle. I never got excited about Bernie's, even though he had some great and relevant points to raise.

Man I'm going to bed. Y'all Bernie fans are salty as hell and nitpicking now. People have been saying Hillarys momentum was insurmountable but y'all didn't want to hear it.

Ah well

It's the the most insane thing how democrats hate someone so progressive/left and consistent/authentic. especially here at gaf lol.

There is a giant gulf between "I don't think he's electable' and 'I hate him'

Jesus Christ.

True. We could probably go back and forth and call out supporters for a lot of different things like how you are naive if you support Bernie. I always said both sides can be equally as negative toward each other, and I stand by that.

Just a few pages ago people were laughing at me for this notion.... I knew it was true all along!
