He can "stay in" as much as he wants for all I care so long as he 1) stops actively fleecing college kids for their beer/pizza money, and 2) stops attacking Clinton. The first is dishonest as hell, and the second serves zero purpose other than to be a spiteful jackass.

I can't pretend to say I know how well his money was spent or not, but he has organized a group of people that wouldn't have otherwise participated in the process. It's a demographic Democrats have been trying to tap into for many cycles now, but haven't really broken through with. He's proved there's a desire for a more progressive wing to the party. These are incredibly good things, and it will pay dividends for Democrats and a more progressive agenda for many years in the future, assuming the same people stay active in politics.

There should be little doubt that, someday, there will be someone who actively considers him/herself a "socialist" will end up on a major Presidential ticket. This stuff takes time. The movement of the country to the left socially under Obama (taxes, health care, LGBT rights, etc) has been a relatively rapid shift and is something that doesn't happen that often. "Progress" is often slow.

Gerrymandering has ensured the Republicans will hold the House until the end of time. Even Trump can't break that unless he breaks the entire Republican Party.

It's quite annoying people fail to accept that reality. Yes, it sucks, but that's the reality for the time being.
 
You can argue whether or not Hillary is an especially exciting candidate, but the prospect of her winning the presidency is incredibly exciting. It cements all the progress made under Obama, will ensure that the Supreme Court becomes a liberal one, and will be another blow to Republicans. It's a huge deal. And I do believe that she's in this fundamentally because she wants to help people, that she has an incredible range of experience, and that her beliefs generally hover fairly close to my own. I also love the idea of a woman being the POTUS, so that adds a dash of excitement, as well.

She's not perfect, but nether is Bernie. Him winning the presidency would imply something pretty incredible (would it say more about the electorate or the Republican Party, I don't know), but not "revolution." Obama winning handily didn't mean the country was ready for all the changes he wanted to bring to it, as has been proven again and again. It's hard to find someone super exciting when so many of their core policies are so unrealistic on multiple levels.
 
I really hope the repubs go 3rd party and make a "true republicans" party. It's like someone comes in your house, throws a party and invites all the hot chicks, kicks you out of your own house, and there's like orgies and shit going on, so you try to make your own party and invite everyone you know on Facebook, but everyone responds with one of those new "Haha" Facebook reaction likes, and then they straight up move into your house altogether, and there's nothing you can do about it so you just cry yourself to sleep on the street, eventually becoming homeless but since there's a republican president, they decide to deport all the homeless people even though they're not actually illegal (just to be on the safe side).
 
Well, good night all. Said I wasn't going to stay up to see MO called. But I did anyways.

Clinton sealed the deal tonight, finally. I no longer feel like Sanders does anything positive for the democrats by staying in at this point. Doesn't mean he won't. But whatever.

Clinton is more than half way there, and above the pace she needs to clinch it. So it's over. She only needs a third of the remaining delegates, and that's ignoring super delegates who aren't budging now.

I eagerly awaiting the presidential campaigns of both Clinton and probably Trump (oh please let it be Trump) and Clinton's likely first term in the white house.

It's been a lot of fun.

Sure, that's correct to think, but I think even in this country Hillary's pretty Centrist, Democratic Party candidate or not and whatever Liberalism she does have is probably gonna be dialed back as we get closer to November. That seems to be what the U.S. wants that right now so there's nothing wrong with that. She'll probably have an easier time of it appealing to everyone else in the Center because of it.

I hope you are right, but I have little reason to believe otherwise. The GOP hasn't been punished yet for their obstruction. They have every reason to continue to do so, especially if 2018 is as favorable to them as it expects to be.

im actually worried about that. either reddit's full of liars but there were a sizable number of people who say they are broke and jobless yet are still donating what little they have to the cause.
 
My dad's a trump supporter.... texts from him tonight.

"You criticize those who are like the Fords, the Vanderbilts, the Gettys, and the Rockefellers who were pioneers of this country much more greater than most most third country."

Experience and knowledge, she has been fighting the republicans for decades. I have no illusions about politics, it's dirty and underhanded and she is far better at it. All the personal negatives are pluses in my book. Obama is a good guy, far too good for politics. That is why he didn't get enough done in his 8 years. She can also lead the Democratic party and keep them in line, because she is a Clinton. You think bernie can be a leader of the Democrats? I can't see it.

The GOP is being punished for their obstruction right now! Trump is the logical outcome of their antigovernment, casual racism strategy. He's about to completely self-destruct in the general election. In a Hillary vs. Trump election the Senate is guaranteed blue and there's a chance the House goes blue. Voters who stay home because they hate Trump don't show up in down-ticket races.

Realignment is coming, and it's coming fast.

As a product manager I feel this keenly. Somebody needs to sit these guys down and say "don't forget, our target market is crazy racists. Are we missing anything that's going to affect those people? Do we have brown people in any of our campaign fliers? We need to Photoshop that shit."
 
That might not sound so bad. But because all the Democratic contests allot their delegates proportionally, it's actually punishingly difficult.

It means Sanders has to beat Clinton by around 58 percent to 42 percent pretty much constantly. And that's just incredibly implausible given what's happened so far, and especially given what's happened tonight.

Even unexpected wins for Sanders in big states like California, New York, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey — already unlikely — wouldn't be enough. Sanders has to win those states by enormous margins.

It's looks like Clinton is winning all the five states tonight. That's unrecoverable blow to Sanders. I think he should drop before he wastes more money and resources on a fight he is guaranteed to lose.
