I love this movie. It is so well done and they somehow make characters that I would find appaling in real life very appealing and interesting to watch. Leo and Jonah in this movie are top notch and I love all their interactions together.

"I have been rich and I have been poor. And if given the option I would choose rich every fucking time! If you think that's tacky go get a job at McDonalds!"

movie is entertaining, but left me exhausted since you get to see characters doing useless shit for three hours. Big deal. Kinda pointless

Yeah, Goodfellas is shorter and gets its points across much better. Then again, not every movie can be Goodfellas tier, if any.

This was the movie that convinced me he deserved the Oscar, he just owned the character and made it feel real. Its also a ton of fun.

One of the best movies I've seen in the past few years. It does what it sets out to do masterfully and is just a joy to watch.

A bit too long. Scorcese made a four hours version and thought it was perfect. They somehow managed to cut it down to three hours without taking away any scene from the former version, but it's still too long. Scorcese was too greedy, essentially.

Loved it one of my favorites from Scorsese along with Goodfellas and Casino. Dicaprio has become such a stellar actor he out performs him self with every movie i see.

It was a bad movie and nowhere near dicaprios best. Maybe I just liked the book better.

Gilbert Grape, Blood Diamond and The Departed are my favourite performances and movies of his.

Really good film, but not as endlessly re-watchable as, say, Goodfellas. Definitely one of DiCaprio's best performances - he is very much in the zone as Belfort. And the Qualudes ( however you spell it ) scene is amazing.

Perfect Pacing, Perfect Di Caprio, Perfect Margot fucking Robbie.

That movie is so well made. No matter how often you watch it, it just doesnt get old. I always want to say it's Di Caprio's best movie.

One of the only redeeming qualities to that movie. Brutally uninteresting and astoundingly long. You couldn't pay me to watch it again.

Should probably not trust the 7-11 security cameras quite so much
It was certainly entertaining although it was hard to treat it as a genuine satire.

Strange title thread.

Margot Robbie is so goddamn gorgeous in it. Her looks are hard to grasp. Why don't all humans look like that?

Bored the hell outta me too. It felt like it was made by an elderly lapsed catholic who lost all feel for pacing and still thinks drugs and sex are 'shocking'. I didn't care for any of the characters, wasn't amused or appalled by any of the antics and I hated how, at the very end, his kids all of a sudden became a tool to show me how far he'd gone. Like, who gives a shit I haven't seen anything about these fucking children. Instead of showing me his relationship with his wife/children or the impact of his fuckery on the people around him/his customers, you just made me watch this dude snort, fuck and fall all over the goddamn place. Honestly, I expected a lot more from Scorsese.

Love it, although I agree it's too long.

Got a call from my grandmother probably a year or so ago now, apparently she tried to watch it but only made it 30 minutes in and shut it off, guess it was too much for her. What do you expect grandma, it's about people on Wall Street, of course there's gonna be drugs and hookers and other displays of excess.

Also I felt really bad when Jordan just dumped his first wife the way he did. I know shit like that happens all the time but it was so damn selfish of him and it was clear that it just tore her apart. Was really hoping she made off with a ton of his money.

It's the same damn movie archetype as Casino and Scarface.

Nice guy gets wealth, destroys himself, loses everything.

Move on, Scorcese. You're better than this.

Same archetype but completely different movie than those two. It's more of a fun comedy, and a great one at that.

I got bored. It's the same scene over and over. In fact, it made me burn out on Jonah Hill. What an obnoxious character!

edit: dammit I don't wanna be first post being all negative lol

I agree, I was bored most of the time in cinema. I wish it had focused on the business / scam things and not his wasted life.

Pretty poor movie overall. It just keeps beating the dead horse with characters that are nothing more than caricatures and entirely unlikable. It's the opposite of Goodfellas.

Yeah the movie covers similar grounds as Scorsese films before but unlike his previous films I don't think there's any 'nice guy' qualities to the protagonist here at all. The leads of Goodfellas or Caino were not exactly nice either but unlike in those films where the characters wistfully reminisce along with the audience, Jordan's just showing off and telling us how much better his life is than ours. It's this acerbic quality that separates Wolf from those other films. There's no epiphany or moment of realization or redemption here.

It was one of the first ~3 hour movies where I really wanted more as soon as it was done. Probably my favorite Leo performance and the pacing was sublime for such a lengthy film.

Whoa. You think Leo is mediocre? Out of curiosity, who do you believe is a great actor?

I love The Wolf of Wall Street. I was surprised Leo won a Oscar for The Revenant and not this.

Daniel Day Lewis, Gary Oldman, Tommy Lee Jones, Anthony Hopkins, just to name a few off the top of my head who can really own their roles.

Leo is out of his depth in all of his latest movies. Just a lot of shouting and overacting.

I enjoy him in everything, and I wouldn't call him mediocre. But I feel like I see the effort in all his performances.

I think his best-fitting performance (that I've seen) was Catch Me If You Can.
