Wii U Emulator Cemu Can Now Play Super Mario 3D World [Nearly] Fullspeed on PC

The main problem is syncing the cores up. Just because you can use more cores doesn't mean it's more efficient than using a single core. Where the extra cores comes in is when you can dedicate them to things that lend themselves to being run separately. Dolphin can use: one core for the CPU thread, one core for the GPU thread, optionally one core for LLE audio if you so choose, and I believe the disc IO either has it's own thread or they are working on it. Even so there are still some games that have issues if you run them "dual core" with the CPU and GPU on separate threads. If your CPU is fast enough the most stable way to run games would be with dual core disabled and both on the same thread. Luckily dual core is pretty solid with most games.
Yeah.

It's unfortunate though because one can only overclock a CPU as much.

Funny I just literally played through Super Mario World 3D a few days ago and really enjoyed it, I wonder how the emulator will handle certain functions such as levels that require the touch screen & tilt features of the WiiU gamepad.

You buy your WiiU games to play on PC? Why bother?
For example, the Wii U does not offer full range RGB output via HDMI. Thus I cannot use the Wii U's HDMI with my screen (40" 4K Philips monitor).

A good emulator would allow me to get rid of my component->HDMI converter->Screen setup, which is a bit of a pain in the ass and only looks semi-decent at 1080i. With the emulator I would get 1080p in all its glory.

I hope they find a way to also support Nintendo's patches, because otherwise emulation would not be very useful for several games.

Fascinating Progress. One more step to preserving and perhaps spreading the Wii U's library beyond the life of the console. History in the short term need not be tethered to the even shorter life of machines.

Wow this is really awesome. I just started Xenoblade Chronicles X on Wii U but I was dissapointed by 720p. Such a beautiful game but if this was 1080p....man :D. I hope Xenoblade X will be playable soon in 1080.

Think bigger... Better

4k man. No need for 1080p where' we're going

Now all I have to do it wait. Just like i did with the wii

Your tv cannot display limited range HDMI? Say what?

That's weird (not that I doubt you).

Yeah, don't get too far ahead of yourself there.

We're a loooooooooooooooooong way away from it being accurate.

Nope, you're flat wrong on this. I remember people that told me that we were really far from it month ago. I told them they were wrong, and where we are. I already worked on emulators and when you've reached this far, it's a question of month, not years.

The progress here are awesome.

While I can't use the full range myself without my screen going insane. It still blows my mind Nintendo still hasn't included this in a firmware update.

OMG I didn't see the spoiler click! There is Xenoblade X screenshot:D:D.
But man as you see 720(jaggies:( ), such a beautiful game being held back by resolution. This in 1080
or 4k:D
would be so beautiful!

To the complainers: Do you really, honestly, think that it makes sense to stop developing the emulator and start again on the arbitrary date that makes the emulator stop being evil, instead of just use all the time they can to improve the emulator? If so, well, I don't really think it's worth to discuss anything. Thankfully the devs won't listen to these "I DON'T LIKE THAT PEOPLE CAN USE THIS EMULATOR THAT I'M NOT FORCED TO USE" kind of opinion.

The progress on this has ben insane. I can only dream of playing Xenoblade X at native res on my 1440p monitor...

It's a computer screen using a TV panel. Amazing device, just not for the Wii U: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/philips_bdm4065uc.htm

Yes, it's very upsetting. The PS3 and Xbox360 do have these options, and the Wii U is a much younger console.

This won't be quite as huge as Wii to Dolphin was, but it will still be really nice to run Wii U games in 1080p with the AA/AF that they've sorely lacked on the console. Nintendo's policy of prioritizing 60fps will really pay off once this emulator gets going; nearly every game will be running at 1080p/60fps. Wii U games are generally pretty well equipped otherwise, with ambient occlusion in almost all of Nintendo's games, and the major deficiencies they have are in resolution/AA/filtering, which can all be enhanced through emulation. They'll look absolutely great.

I've read that Dolphin is party responsible for how fast this and Citra are moving. Can anyone explain how? Just curious...

I can understand not saying it is piracy if you buy the original game .... but I can't see how DLC would not be piracy considering you can't buy it without a wiiu

WiiU has similar hardware if I'm not mistaken, makes it easier to get a decent emulator going especially since Dolphin is already friggen amazing.

So you want to play XCX without fast travel and certain other features requiring the gamepad?
That seems like a worse option than just playing it in 720p.

I might be willing to take trade off considering how much better it'd look >_>

Hopefully I don't have too :lol

I find really funny that you're just asumming that the gamepad won't be eventually emulated. It will probably be by the time playing XCX on this gets viable.

You'll probably be able to drop the gamepad window to a second monitor and click on stuff with the mouse.

Instead of spending developer manhours getting Wii U games emulated on PC (which are already HD) I really wish those hours would go into Xbox emulation (Of which games are largely 480p) instead.

I need to be able to play Jet Set Radio Future again since Sega doesn't seem to care anymore.

Buy it on Wii U then rip it? (Honestly, just guessing here... I never emulate).

Oh shit didn't know that.So you can't use gamepad features yet?
That's a shame.

Edit: Can't you go with 2 monitor screens and do mouse inputs? I'm fine with that for Xenoblade X.

I'm not up to date on the state of Wii U hacks/CFW/homebrew, but I assume this is how you'd do it. If you can dump games, there's a good chance you can get other things out of system memory including saves, DLC, etc.

So this is not about resolution now, isn't it? Like it isn't about framerate either, seeing how it struggles to run at 60 fps.

Must be some other reason ...

At least by then the game preservation thing will probably be somehow legit.

Why is next year ok for game preservation but not this year?

Holy shit, emulation threads are a disaster on GAF. Every time.

I'd do unspeakable things for Rallisport Challenge 2 at 1440p.

I was wondering about that.

I'm also looking forward to a NX emulator in 2018.

from the leak it doesn't look like there's much to emulate, will probably be done in HTML and work on low end Android phones:
