So I got a practically new 32" LCD tv from a relative for Christmas. Brought it back home and a few weeks later we bought an entertainment cabinet for it to set on and hooked up an additional PS3 (bought if for like $15 because the disc drive is broken). We use for gaming nights when friends come over, and they mostly play fighting games. So having it allows more people to play.

It's not an essential part of life since we have a larger plasma tv, but it was a really nice gift. Well my cat got excited over something outside the window. He has a cat tree right next to the window and the tv sit in front of it. Well he jumps off, tries to walk along the sill thats 2" wide and over to the door that's on the left. His fat butt knocks over the feather light tv and cracks the inner screen. And cracked screens are not covered under the extended warranty.

Tell me what stupid things your animal has done so I can feel better.

My cat scratched my expensive headboard 3 minutes after I finished assembling them.
It's been 4 years, those scratches are still there.

I used to have a cat who would pursue food to the extent that he would bite open cans of soda and drag frozen 2-lb bags of chicken off the counter. We couldn't keep any food out anywhere or he would be all over it

Chewed up cables too, yup. That cat was a pain.

The cats we have now completely destroyed all the carpeting on our stairs and around our bedroom door, the damage was so extensive that we had to replace all the carpet when we moved out. The house we live in now has all hardwood floors so it's not a problem anymore thank god

He wasn't alone.
My dog killed one of my aunts guinea hens. We had it with dinner that night.

The day before, the hen did poke my dog in the eye though.

In 1998 my sister's cat peed directly into the vent on top of my N64. My parents brought it back to the store and just said it was broken and they let us exchange it, lol.

Chewed controller cables for NES, SNES, Genesis, n64, dreamcast, and GameCube. Dogs....

my old dog chewed through the bottom lattice in my backyard and destroyed wiring for the alarm systems

A dog wouldn't have done that.

Another reason why dogs > cats.

I'm confused GAF. Are dogs better than cats or not?

Don't most flat screens have a screw hole in the base to secure them? Mine did, and I was sure to screw my brand new TV down when I got it, because my roommate had a dog and a cat. And I was glad I did, that cat tried to knock the TV down daily.

My cat pissed on my laptop and my PS3 controller in 2008.

I didn't notice the laptop until a few weeks later until it had all dried up. Opening it up and getting blasted by that smell was quite something. The laptop worked until 2010.

The PS3 controller was white, but is now faded brown-yellow in parts. It still works.

The condo I rent had a linoleum tile in the kitchen, it was basically one enormous mat that was glued to the ground.

When my dog was a puppy, the very first time I ever left him home alone, he pulled the entire thing up. Like all of it. And ripped it to shreds.

I retiled the room, this time with individual tiles so that, if he pulled them up again, I could just replace the one tile instead of the entire room. Luckily he never did it again.

Nothing in the base for that, just holes in the back for a wall mount. We've taken it with us a couple times for SFV tournaments. It was nicer than using a 20" monitor, which we've used in the past as a second set up. We've also done second set ups outside when the weather is nice. The apartment gets really warm fast between people, electronics, and my cooking. So now during the summer we do set ups outside and grilling outside. Having it portable was part of the plan. But there's not enough money to replace it.

Cats clawed up two of my couches. (Luckily they've only been crappy second hand couches)
Dogs tore apart my $200 sleeping bag.

I grew up with cats and dogs and I've had many things destroyed over the years, the examples above are more recent though.

My grandparent's dog ate the first editions of the first two Harry Potter books.

My friend's cat turned on the hot water tap in their kitchen when they were away. The neighbour went over to feed it and discovered the kitchen completely flooded with scalding hot water, and damage to the walls and windows because of the heat.

Cats chowed down on some Sennheiser earbuds and wrecked a $300 photo printer by gnawing apart the cable going between the body and lid.

Bitter spray eventually helped.

Yeh, cats are just shit animals in general. They only come to you when they want something and ehen they aren't trying to get something or run under your feet trying to trip you they're out murdering shit.

Dogs on the other hand, are fucking awesome.

My sister's dog chewed up 2 pairs of shoes of mine in about as many weeks. She then had the audacity to blame me for not keeping my shoes in my bedroom.

Two, TWO brand new pairs of $150 snowboard goggles within like a week. Dogs...

man's best friend indeed.

My cats broke both the laptop that I'd use for gaming and the 2TB harddrive that was used for game storage.
So much lost data.

Was forced to use a low end desktop from 2004 until I finished building by new PC.

My cats and dog have never messed with anything expensive. In all these years I've only lost a pair of cheapo earphones, a mug, and a vase.

When I was petsitting for others though.. I lost a lamp to a kitten and some trash got overturned by a puppy. lol
