Dark Souls III in English is now available on the Xbox One after buying on JP store

Need some help pls :/ ... i redeemed my 2 codes (3000 and 5000 yen) but my balance is unchanged??? and i cant buy the game... any ideas?

Well, I think I just did it. Chatted with support, got my US version refunded and then bought the yen codes, redeemed them on the JPN store, and purchased DS3 on the JPN store. I'm at work. When I get home, I'll boot up the box and pray that the download starts.

Oh man, if this works...

Is this something MS might try to patch? If so, would you have to buy the English version all over again at launch?

If not, I'm totally going to do this. If so, I don't think it's worth it to play a few weeks early and possibly waste $60.

No, not a slight chance MS and Scamco will do anything with this, it is exactly how the Xbox Live store works and not a DS3 specific issue, you buy the game on any store, and can download whatever version you want later.

People have been buying games from other regions. Earlier in the thread some posters explained a bit more.

18% installing on an EU account now. Using Paypal on the Microsoft Store to get 3000 and 5000 yen cards worked perfectly. I just picked a random address off Google Maps and it seemed to work.

I ordered points from Microsoft Store Japan. The email I got says it takes 4–6 hours to process... Anyone else get this? Normal? Just gotta wait for my codes? Thanks.

they'd need to change their entire system and policy since a region free market has been available since launch

Oh god we could only hope. Fucking Bamco and their stupid staggered releases. With the new digital era we should have the same god damn release window!

I forgot it was coming out so soon. I saw some ad for March 24th and then realized that I was right and it wasn't set until next month in NA. Nothing was up on the HK store yesterday when I looked, but if the English version pops up on their store, I'm pretty sure I'm going to get it right then and there.

XBone gets it's first killer timed exclusive!

/s
maybe

Lmao.

This is the last piece of a puzzle to seal a shit situation. It's great xb players can get around it and play early, but the who jp first release is sone of the most assbackwards stuff I've seen a JP publisher do in a long while. Bamco has seemed to be chasing western success for years, almost fucking up the soul of the series with superflous marketing, then gaining worldwide success, then releasing first in Jp to a smaller base. What? Why? But this is the pub that released two lesser non-Fromsoft games, in between DS games.

What a mess all this is. If the rumors about Namco releasing it later for us to boost new quarter financials then seriously what the hell.

You bought it using the codes from microsoft store and it showed up on your US account on your xbox correct?

Well, UK account, but yeah! Didn't have to even touch my console. Bought the codes via the Japanese Microsoft store, redeemed them on the JPN Xbox website and bought the game there too. Turned on my Xbox and there it is sitting in my ready to install games.

Yes. But they also show up when you confirm/place your order on the confirmation page. I didn't notice it for my first code, but I did for my second. Luckily the emails came though with both just a few minutes later.

Hmmm this is what my email looks like...

& when I try to enter my order number & email address on the Microsoft Store to check my order, it says it can't find it :I

Yeah it sucks but unless you're cannibalizing your experience by watching others play the entire game or reading deep spoilers, which people are certainly doing, I really don't get this thinking.

After three weeks most of the players finished the game at least once. Exploring a Souls game with a community is a huge part of the enjoyment (imo). I'm not going to experince it this time.
Hype level went from 100 to zero. Japanese players getting the game three weeks early is already pretty stupid (good for them though) but now Xbox One players (worldwide!!!), too?
It's a mess.

I doubt it, this region-free buying is something that Albert Penello was trumpeting here on neogaf before the console even launched back in 2013.

This whole staggered release shit is just not working for them. They should just cut the act and release the damn game worldwide already, it's obviously finished and just sitting there if the English version is available to Xbox One owners and streamers.

They're not going to release it digitally ahead of the physical release and fuck off all their retail partners.

When a dev like From gets partnered with a publisher like Namco... I'm grateful of the outcome we have in that Xbox and PC owners get Souls, but man this shit probably wouldn't have happened if Sony took up the IP. Or at least a better publisher than Namco.

Namco as of late are milking it as a cashcow. I mean what the fuck was Slashy Souls.... Then Souls chicken wings? Then early copies given to streamers (in English so weeks before release)? Typical publisher bullshit, and quarterly financials fixing is no surprise if true.

Awesome! But I have to wait to install it when i get home and I am sure its going to take forever to download.

Why are you assuming that everyone who has an XBOX is going to figure out how to buy from the Japanese store? Stop being so dramatic.

Figuring out? You just change your region and buy some yen codes. It's done within 5 minutes. I did this all the time on my xbox one (sold it 6 months ago, damn lol).
