Robot repair is backwards. All the busy work a non gamer won't understand before the presence and scale showing something that... A non gamer won't understand.

TheBlu first. Then depending on the person, tiltbrush, space prate trainer, or job simulator. More choices may become available now with the lab and other things popping up.

Remember that TheBlu is under two minutes long. And always that set time. Other suggestions all have something that the user can stall for time with. You start with TheBlu then let them do something else for the remainder of their time. If they waste all their time, then at the very least they got a full run of TheBlu.

As you can see I'm going off of a "show off to your friends or at a demo" perspective which may be why our choices differ. I'm thinking lowest common denominator stuff.

This is all about a first impression. You want to go from a real life room to a virtual room? Or from a room to the infinite space at the bottom of the ocean?

Again robot repair can accomplish that. But does it backwards and only a person knowledgeable of the games will comprehend the location.

Depending on how it is when I try the Lab's photogrammetry I may consider that as an alternate first impression as it isn't about all your fears bubbling up from being dumped onto the ocean floor.

Same. I'm so hyped that the play order doesn't matter as much. I've bought so hard into the VR hype that being "blown away" isn't going to happen. Like, it would take accidentally getting a VR pornstar pregnant before VR exceeded the hype I've been seduced by

But my dumb innocent friends. They can still experience the childlike wonder of the unexpected. Probably won't reimburse me the $1500 it cost to provide them that, but eh

We have confirmed that "The Blu" will be available for users at time of Vive release right?

To me that is the obvious first impression of Vive to someone who does not know what VR can accomplish.

For? I assume you were going to say the Rift. I would be careful with Ad1ft, it seems like it is has a pretty good chance of making people nauseous.

I have both preordered. So Vive for most/roomscale, Rift for the Exclusives.

I heard that about Adr1ft as well. But figure after a buildup, most will be okay with the "Intense" experience Ad1ft provides. From just standing in an amazing environment in blu, to captiously interacting with stuff in a room in Lab, to flying around in a cockpit in Eve/Elite, then finally progressing to an experience like Adr1ft.

Starting with Adr1ft would probably make for a bad idea.

How useful is it to have dedicated space for this?

Recently moved and the basement is a (WIP) home theater room/man cave (planning to get an arcade machine etc).

At the back of the basement is what's essentially a small spare bedroom, which we don't need, but I could use it as a VR room perhaps. Wife is amenable to the idea. Just wondering if it's worth it...

The room is 12' by 10' with a closet that I could take the doors off and make into an equipment space for PC etc.

I don't actually have any kind of VR or even a preorder, but just thinking ahead.

Decided to preorder one. If I'm gonna spend a bunch of money, I'm gonna go for the one that has the proper controllers and spacial tracking right out of the box.

Didn't even know that Fabulous Contraption was a thing but it looks fucking amazing. =D

It's Fantastic Contraption. I agree that it does look fabulous though!

Everest should be intense. How is motion handled? Teleport or traditional?

A combination I believe:

And of course, this also helps with locomotion, as the constrained view limits the amount of motion you feel. Then the “window” opens up, and you’re fully transported into the scene. They tried a lot of locomotion and transitional techniques in this demo. At some points, you were actually fully flying through the scene, but very gently. To me, there was no problem with that, as I don’t find that slow way of moving uncomfortable. They had teleportation. They had physical walking, which you get with large room scale. They had this thing where you’re looking down at a diorama sized version of the map, and you can “zoom” in and make things bigger, until you’re ‘there’ at a 1:1 scale. And finally, they had a part where you climb a ladder, and you use your motion controllers to grasp at rungs and sort of pull yourself up. Through all of these different methods, I experienced no motion sickness.

There seems to be no recent confirmation that it'll make it for launch though :/

Just received my shipping email from htc, I'm in wave two. God damn waiting another week or two while people get theirs is going to kill me. Hopefully I'm on the first batch of rift shipment.

People selling vives for 1.5k on ebay are insane, I mean if you preorder a vive now you'll get it in may. Who in his right mind would pay an extra 600-700 to get it a month early?

The same people who paid 1k for a PS4 on launch lol

I am in second April shipment also. Unfortunately, I will be out of the country for 3 weeks when it arrives.

I am leaning heavily towards Vive due to the reviews that it accommodates people who wear glasses more than the Rift. Anyone who wears glasses here have any experience with the Vive DKs?

Filled out the form yesterday, hopefully I'm in wave 1. Preordered within the first 10 minutes. Between vive, force awakens bluray release, and quantum break it's going to be an awesome week.

Soooo.... i had my first VR experience today courtesy of SCAN's demo unit in Bolton...and needless to say i was blown away by the experience. I'm hungry for something in a way i haven't felt since Halo 1. And now i would like to buy one. Whaddaya think are my chances of getting a unit from a retailer day 1 are? The online orders are backed up until May, right?

0% unless you count eBay as a retailer.
