Star Citizen Alpha 2.0 | The 'Verse Awakens

What? Why? I didn't realize GAF was anti-PC. 0_o

Not a matter of anti-PC. Just that going out and trash talking console gamers (or PC gamers) isn't exactly going to do you any favors. Were SC a member, and brandishing the PC master race thing to bash consoles in any serious fashion, his/her days would probably be numbered. If they were a Junior, they might not make it through the day. =P

If the /r/PCMasterRace subredit has thought me anything, it's that being apart of the PC Master Race isn't about trash talking consoles, it's merely submitting to the fact that PCs are more powerful in every way, but it is completely fine to live in harmony with our console brethren.

2.3a PTU is out. Fixed a lot of the crashing. Scout is kind of better to fly but not much. Still way to slow and strafing isn't much better. Wrecks in Yela are much easier to find now. Still no SF in Hangar for those with Gemini :(

oh God don't even play with me like that

Shipshape as the community sweetheart is now to become Lore?????

Not really. You're allowed to use it in your persecution fantasies.

I'm not sure which is the bigger fantasy: PC users gloating about not having to buy the hardware, or consoles being emulated fast enough to actually run an entire library of games at full speed or better without tons of bugs while the console is still current. I can see PC users perhaps gloating about being able to play without slowdown, or other graphical perks, but about not needing the hardware? The cost of a console is negligible to PC gamers with hardware fast enough to do that sort of emulation.

2.3b is up. I am able to now see the SF in hangar.

Xi'An up to 280 SCM now, 325 Boost, 620 CRU. - Bah the killed the best part of it, being able to slow down very very fast.

Still a little sluggish when going to any kind of strafing but getting better. Still not what I thought it would be but getting better.

Got lost a few times in the SF. Thankfully it has marks to help you out.

Does anyone have a Vanguard Warden and think it under performs for the price? I bought one last week with LTI (upgrading from the Vanduul Blade) and I haven't been liking it too much so far. I'd much prefer to have a Sabre or Super Hornet, because I like being able to put gimbals on all the mounts so there's only 1 pip I have to aim with.

I don't play with gimbals so I really like the Warden. Especially when you swap in a M6A for the S4 slot. Those 4 S2 nose guns are devastating but I could see where a gimbaled k/m player would not like them. The Harbingers Railgun should be fun too :)

The Vanguards will really start to shine once we have long distance travel in place. Right now it is just mini hops and lots of smaller ships. The Vanguards are for long distance hits on mid to largish targets first line stuff.

Here is some good info on them if you have not already read it:

https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/14934-Vanguard-Variant-Q-A-Part-1

Sabre and SH are for dog fighting and not going super long distances. (without extra fuel pods in-place of stuff or a SF/Gemini in tow)

Hm, I'm gonna test it again turning off weapons gimbal lock this time.

2.3c up now already that was fast.

Wow Xi"An update: 290 SCM 450 Boost 900 CRU Wow it is quick now and stops quick.

Man it is now crazy good, like better then M50 levels of good. It has a fun Roll Boost where you go 180 degrees super fast.

I just spent a good hour flying it and have to say it is the most fun ship in the game to fly. I no longer have a reason to own the M50 anymore. The 350R stays until they update it and it gets some storage. If no storage it goes as well. The Blade has some tough competition on its hands now.

Okay, tried weapons gimbal lock and enjoyed fighting against the Vanduul a lot more.

Also this was my first time completing all 18 waves in Co-Op swarm (usually have crashed or died to stupid reasons before). At the end of the match, it had said that I had unlocked some stuff, but I was on Broken Moon and couldn't quite make out what it said. Do you guys know what was unlocked?

To me it looked like it said Vanduul Scythe, but I didn't see it in my ship list when I got back to the main menu.

It used to unlock the option to buy it when they had them for limited stock sales.

It is nice, but the current version of the server is a bit of a mess. I got frame rates down to 8 or so. 2.3b was at its lowest 16 fps.

To be honest, not really. I knew I loved the Vanguard when I was flying along in Crusader minding my own business when the Freelancer I was flying by locked missiles on my ship and starting firing at me. I retaliated, and in under 3 seconds that Freelancer was space dust. The four nose-mounted guns are seriously awesome, especially since they hit roughly the same area and can do some devastating damage to whatever you're firing at on top of the large underside gun. Of course, the ship doesn't feel at all like a dogfighter and it isn't really meant to be one. However, with the ability to make long range combat viable and several different combat packages that can be used to tailor the Vanguard to the combat role you require, it makes up for the lack of maneuverability with better combat utility. Right now we can't really see the value in the ship because a majority of the targets out in the open universe are small, agile fighters that don't have to worry about having to launch into deep space without a carrier. As we start seeing larger ships that are more likely the Vanguard's targets and the universe expanding beyond what we have now, I'm sure the Vanguard will start to make a lot more sense. In the current alpha environment, having a fighter with gimbals (if you're a gimbal player, anyway - #teamnogimbal here) is what makes the most sense.

Of course, I'm coming from a position where I also have a Sabre and a Super Hornet, so I don't mind having the Vanguard as something slightly different from those ships. Certainly, I don't think either one of those could take down that Freelancer as fast, either, and when the game goes live I'll probably have to hitch a ride on someone's Idris if I want to do anything significant with them.

SQ42 is going to make some people shit themselves IMO
I love the spinal look and articulated back bone that all Vanduul art tends to have, very H.R. Giger-esque

Lawd that's alot of geometry. Hopefully my computer doesn't blow up when I blow that up. Really cool design though.

Ah, right, yeah, of course. Can't use it in a better-than-thou way, I should have said..

Looks like the Starfarer is getting a price adjustment to $300 when it goes up for sale again here soon. From the original $175 to $195 last sale. It looks like melt/buy backs price does not change for the SF but CCU to SF went up in the buyback section. If you have a CCU to a Gemini you might want to buy it back before it goes up.

The Caterpillar and BMM were also pretty good deals and I would assume they will go up as well.

That price point makes a lot more sense for the amount of metal you get in that ship. I always thought the $195 price point was a steal.

I think this will be the first case of a price hike in subsequent sales for SC. They've always had that disclaimer, but never used it.

Yup, just bought back my base Starfarer LTI for $175, and in the CCU screen I get $300 credit for it. Ka-ching! Might turn it into a high end fighter instead.

Holy... I wish I was following this game sooner. I was about to buy the Starfarer when it got offered again but not for 300.

To buy back the Gemini I have for $240 under the anticipation of a future increase or to procrastinate... Would be an easy choice if not for things like the Vive lol.
