Then Nintendo is absolutely fucked, especially if they're launching the console first.

Even if it's out this year, its going to be coming out at the tail-end of the year, as in late November earliest so either way it's going to be a long wait so I don't see how they can be "absolutely fucked" if they release it, say first quarter of 2017 a la 3DS.

Perhaps. But all this "no buttons" nonsense would be greatly mitigated by a proper explanation and some good 'ol Nintendo games.

Hmm. Sean Noonan's moon landing image? ShockingAlberto's saying he heard the last leak was legit way back at the start of the thread? McNamara in the OP? Maybe I'm missing another insider wink or two, but this all smells very real by my analysis even if the dev kit isn't quite a consumer quality build.

Thanks for this Fourth Storm. I wasn't able to keep up completely and missed some of this.

If anyone has links to the info above or other details I'd appreciate an update post, or if the OP could be updated that would be great.

You don't see the difference between releasing before the holiday period and releasing early in the year?

The 3DS launching in Q1 limped out the gate and needed a substantial price cut within months to get people to care about it. Would have done better if it released in November. Face it, people are more likely to buy stuff like this during the holiday season.

The NX is rumored to be modelling itself after apple with iOS and incremental hardware upgrades, Xbox is doing the same thing, and now PS4K. The next 5-8 years of console gaming is going to be exciting.

The holiday season is the largest shopping period of the year. It would be nice to launch during that time.

There's also the handheld to consider, something that a majority of this thread is overlooking. Then again, Nintendo handhelds have had incremental upgrades for a while (see the n3DS for a more recent example).

I've asked a few times and got no answer. No one seems to really care about the reality of all this.

They just keep throwing out fantasy features like it doesn't cost anything. All of which is super pricey. Cutting edge screens with cutting edge haptic feedback and or tactus like buttons can't possibly be cheap, even at scale. It just seems way too expensive. The Wii U Gamepad alone cost upwards of nearly 1/3 to 1/2 of the Wii U price point and people are coming up with all sorts of stuff for this NX controller that could be significantly more advanced than that.

I can't imagine what something like this would cost. Seems way too expensive. Unless it's also a fully functioning handheld on its own then the pricing is going to be high or the console itself is going to be very limited power wise again, which I don't have a big problem with but possibly not the smartest move on their part.

Again, I'll repeat. The 3DS was using "cutting edge Sharp screens" as well...

That's not what Nintendo remotely said. Seriously NX rumors are like a game of telephone where the original comment never existed. They said they were looking at the iOS hardware eco systems, which mainly pertained to portability of software between devices. No where was it implied they were going with incremental hardware upgrades

Home console is holiday season stuff because it's a higher chance to sell major consumer electronics. Handhelds can typically be released during summer, spring, fall or winter.

That's how we know that it'll be another Wii U situation. Nintendo rushed the console out so fast that they couldn't even format the TOC.

Lol. There's no way the TOC would be this terrible formatted, even when I rush a paper out I correctly format everything. Tomorrow we'll get another "leak" and it'll be from reddit again.

More from the handbook "leaker". Don't know what to make of this yet. Nothing too crazy.
Okay so what I know if people care to listen, because I do understand that there may not be a lot of belief in what I'm saying but here it is :
The console is called Pocket
Its described as Pocket console and Pocket hand held to identify them.
The logo is an ugly looking P however this could be a place holder which I do believe is the case... I hope so
The leaked controller is a component of the console which fits into 'peripherals'
Peripherals include a remote cradle with 'innovative lock and hold mechanism'.
'Gameplay Flow' is in my opinion like new windows Universal Apps in which it scales to differant sizes and changes for different jobs like a windows app on hololens ;)
App icons must be round and can contain a 'backside image'
Developers can utilise a Nintendo ran server allowing modern game play features
A lot more little details and a couple bigger things but I'm currently very busy and if needed/wanted I will update everyone with more
I understand that you don't need to believe this information

Yeah, that's my point. People think this is something new or that cutting edge means incredibly expensive. The 3DS showed there is a cost effective way of doing it

Wii as well with its motion controls. That was cutting edge for its time too despite its hardware but no one ever thought to use them in anything outside a few circles and pitches.

This... we live in an era where formatting is accomplished by a single button click... you almost actively have to try to format something that poorly.

  1. Case in point.
  2. Even this forum
  3. Allows me to format properly
  4. with just a single click.

I mean yes, it would be more then nice, ideal even however it doesn't mean that they'd be absolutely fucked if they didn't, the holiday season failed to work in the Wii U's favor so it isn't the ultimate be-all and end-all. Know what would be? Making sure it's actually ready, as in the software is ready and the messaging is clear because if they get this wrong out of the gate this time? Then they'd have a problem.

Also, I doubt that 3DS releasing in November 2010 would have helped, not with the sate that it had, even the eShop wasn't ready for it's March 2011 release. You know what fucked the 3DS over? The lack of games.

True, though the 3DS wasn't really affordable when it launched. They were able to cut the price at least. Gives me a little hope the NX can be affordable.
