Dark Souls III [Import OT] Kindle the fire, one last time

I'm at the hub. I guess.

Katana guy must have committed suicide. So I got a katana, woot!

Can't open the door behind him or the one on the other side. Where the hell am I supposed to go? I've done a pretty thorough search.

Go down a level and you can enter the building.

Why the hell does the Cleric look like a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle?
that set is hideous, I was running around naked at the start of the game.

The hyperaggressive, 6 hit combo, infinite stamina, 180+ degrees tracking, 180+ degrees sweeping enemies make this game feel a bit cheaper than any other souls game. That doesn't feel in line with the original design philosophy of "hard but fair".
what enemies are those, exactly?

some moves have some tracking, usually on stronger enemies or bosses, but it just means that you need better timing to dodge. and that's the point really, without any form of tracking slow attacks would be a ''spam roll with no timing at all for 100% dodge''.

Have you seen many of those? Really dislike tracking enemies

There aren't too many of those at the first half of the game but latter half most fights with enemies that aren't cannon fodder end up feeling like you're just fishing for that one window when you can get a couple hits in. They usually go down fairly fast but sometimes you get absolutely overpowered when you just don't have any breathing room.

Quick question: I finished DS1 but didn't play DS2, can I go directly to DS3 or should I play 2 first?

Play DS3. It's really, really cool to play these games when they're nice and fresh.
DS2 is a nice game to go back to with hundreds of hours of content when you want some more Souls.

In terms of story/characters/enemies, there's more DS1 than DS2 in here, but there's some carryovers from 2 as well.

The boss in the Catacombs of Carthus,
High Lord Wolnir, was a complete joke. The intro was cool, but the fight wasn't challenging at all. It must have taken 2 mins to kill him. This isn't bragging, all you have to do in this boss fight is kill the golden bracelets he's wearing. His attacks are very slow and predictable, and he always kills the minions he summons.

I'm expecting bosses to get a lot harder from here!

They are and he was a complete joke. First I noped the hell out of there with Homeward Bone, came back and was like... that's it?

Those
knights
towards the end of the game are really strong. I resorted to playing like a bitch with a greatshield. I wait for their attack to bounce off the shield, I hit them once, rinse & repeat. They hit way too hard (they can OS me with 20 vitality if they pull of a counter-hit) to try anything fancier at the moment.

Impressed people are near endgame. How many hours have you played?

24 hours haha.

Damn now that I think about it I spent half of the time since release playing the game.

anyone know how to get to the ceiling of the cathedral? i can see it's possible, bloodstains are up there

Do you mean the
Cathedral of the Deep
? Once you open the door to the right of the bonfire in the chapel (facing against the bonfire), pass through it and take a left. Ride the elevator and at the top, exit the tower via an opening and look for a ladder. There will be a
priest guy
there. Jump down towards the ceiling of the building and run across the roof towards level ground. There should be a couple of openings towards the attic there.

Might have to carry a shield with me too then, if that's the case. I was planning on going with just a sword + whatever form of magic turns out to be the best for damage dealing, but I'm not confident enough in my rolling skills if the enemies do track as much as you make it sound

I just realized that I can stick the sword I picked up in the burnt out bonfire. Do I teleport from there to the next area? Where do you mean by downstairs? Inside the building? Near the smith and vendor woman?

is there an actual work-in-progress weapons list somewhere? The wiki is useless.

I still have to find a single fucking weapon scaling with FAITH and I need a new one since my damage output with the current weapon is quite awful for the point where I'm at.

LTTP: Dark Souls III [OT]
.

use this.

Portal from the bonfire (game needs to be 100% installed to teleport)

Yep, stick the sword in, and teleport to the available area (High Wall).

So is the Cleric shown in the earlier versions, I believe this was the network test, essentially the Herald now but with a spear/lance? I really dug the Cleric, or whatever I had assumed to be the cleric, in that footage.

My playtime is going to be wayyy longer than that I think. I haven't even encountered anything crazy difficult yet. I'm just getting lost constantly

For those who finished the game can we have some kind of final advice?

Impressions on bestiary, level design, pros, cons, global duration, ranking compared to other soulsborne ?

i see a lot of streamers crying that its unfair that xbox is in english :') didnt see them compaining when they got the game for free on pc

Those who are near the end, what level are you?
I'm level 37 and I feel like I've barely scratched the surface.
16VIG/18END/28STR, working on a strength build, have barely touched any other stats than those

Yeah it's kinda funny. They're like tripping over themselves to spoil the game and now people can just play it in english.

Super glad I didn't spoil myself on anything. There's so many little moments already I'm glad I didn't know about.

Is there a ring somewhere that allows me to travel faster through water? I'm fat-rolling thorugh swamps and that crap in the Cathedral of the Deep like there's no tomorrow...

Abyss Watchers down, first try! It did take 9 estus flasks though :)

I thought it was a cool fight. Like Artorias but with a pretty entertaining first phase. I was about to die in the first phase, but then one of them jumped in and pancaked the one that was killing me, saving my life. lol

I'm really liking this game so far. Rolling with fallen knight armor and a Greatsword +3 and I finally feel powerful now!

Oh, and can someone help me find
the warriors of sunlight? I know it's in a hidden room in undead settlement, but I feel like I've been absolutely all over that place and can't find it.

10 hours in and am loving every minute so far. Feels good to be playing this at release (well, before but you know what I mean) and there being next to no guides online yet. Even the wiki is sparse as hell.

One thing I'd like to mention which is totally unrelated, the Xbox controllers use like no battery power. I'm on the same double a's I put in when I started the game. Coming off a PS4 binge the past 6 months, this is crazy!

Rough length estimator for people, if you're in the most beautiful place in the series you are around half way.

For me DS3 is on equal standing with DS1 for now, but since i haven't played the xbox one version yet and hence dont have detailed lore that could change.

great enemy range with bloodborne style of building enemies up as a constant, level design is great after the tutorial beginning, pros: everything is awesome ( Cant comment on story, so that could be bad), cons: performance. Around
20
bosses

So I'm in that first main area after the hub world. I found a cell key and opened a cell to some dude in a big hat. He wants me to deliver a ring for him. I have the option to grant request or refuse. Anyone do this? What choice do I make?!

no, I haven't figured it out. I just found the lightning spear miracle. it was
off a secret path from the tower in the swamp.

thanks, I just got to it today. I'm starting think Pyromancy is the way to go for offensive Faith builds. Hmm.

If you grant his request, he'll become a
merchant at Firelink Shrine
.

Anyone have a lead on Titanite Scales? I feel like I'm really late in the game but I haven't gotten enough to get any boss weapon higher than +2. It's really stupid. Let me use the weapons! I'm sitting on so many cool boss weapons I just can't use because it would gimp me really hard.

Titanite scales I've found so far:

Big lizard in intro area. Big lizard near the cemetary next to the cathedral area, Big lizard between the swamps. Some random on a corpse after Pontiff, and on a corpse in the lake of fire or w/e it's called under the Catacombs (on JP version).
