Dark Souls III [Import OT] Kindle the fire, one last time

God there are so many friggn secret areas in this game that it feels like that 50% of the game is hidden. And so many illusion walls etc. wow

I think I might have missed the B
oreal
D
ancer
fight. (I've killed all but one of the L
ord of
C
inder
and I'm at the last one right now). Where did I miss it?

Awe shit don't tell me theirs a lot of illusion walls I havnt found any :/

Yes I even found two illusion walls where another was right behind the first one like in Dark Souls. There are many. I guess I've found at least 6-7 walls and I've beaten only 7 bosses, but I've found three areas now which were totally hidden. Like real areas.

Where was it? I haven't seen anyone use it yet :s

I found it
above the Farron covenant in the swamp, on the other side of the door near the fight with the Stray Demon. There's a hole in the wall where you have to pass, and it's right in front of the dragon's head.
It's in fact the other side of the bridge you see in the beginning of the Undead Settlement, with a dragon on it :P

So now that people have had a few days to play this, what are the early impressions? I mean I'm going to play it anyway, but still. How is it compared to the previous games?

So overall, a lot better than Dark Souls II ? (Which I like, but haven't made much progress in).

Also, for those of you that are far into III or finished, are you looking forward to the two DLC expansions, even without knowing what they are?

swamp help
how do you open that door with the 3 flames around it? I have the 2 on the left lit up but can't figure out how to get the one on the right

took me hours to find these.

basically when you're at the bonfire looking towards the 3 braziers and the door, you need to go right and look for a path up to the third flame and it's going to require you to get by some of those giants. I just ran by them and barely made it.

I'm a tad confused where to go.
After cursed greatwood I took the other path to my right which eventually took me to the path I took which was to the onion knight. I went up and talked to the giant and then went down and did some battle with the onion knight against a flamed beast. The surrounding area from here doesn't lead me anywhere. Just eventually tof the top of a building where 2 priest type casters are. Do I have to use a homeward bone to warp back as I can't see another bonfire here?

Before I took that route there was also an option to go down the lift. Before that I could see a ladder leading down to some sewers.

I've no bloody idea how I get back to a bonfire from here though.

Can someone help me find these optional bosses:
Ancient Wyvern and Nameless King
. Bout to beat the game and don't want to fuck it up.

Better than 2? ...hell, it's better than DS1 for me so far.

Anyone in the UK playing this on XBO using the Japanese marketplace trick? I've turned on cross-region play but still have not had any online interactions or even seen any messages. It's not really bothering me since my first DS1/2 playthroughs were offline on purpose but is it just a matter of no one in Japan owning an XBO and not enough people using the trick or have other people managed to do something?

In terms of impressions:
Holy shit what a game. Level design is on par with DS1 so far, there are cool shortcuts everywhere. I just killed Deacons of the Deep and I kind of want to see more bosses that are not just based on figuring out a gimmick but otherwise I am absolutely loving it so far.

False alarm, just a bug i guess for now? Basically you need to go back to second boss of game , then head up stairs

Yeah, he was there. (He was kind of easy imo, that was my first one-shot since the cathedral boss)

So, under some conditions this boss gives you a shot at killing him after the A
ldrich
boss fight, but if you homeward bone out, he can be found in that place instead.

since I'm avoiding spoilers and streams looks like I'll be hitting every wall with my sword :D

Nya I only realized them because they were:

- obvious as fuck (I had that once with the first double wall)
- there are messages from people on the ground

I would have never found them otherwise.

Good lord, whomever thought up the area before the first Lord of Cinder needs to be fired. Who thinks that is fun? Started another character who is more squishy and honest to god I said fuck it and just summoned people. Which of course attracted red's who immediately run to bonfires and/or enemies and push the area to be longer than it is.

So fucking fun.

That's because it's not turned on for the XB1 version.

Quick question regarding weapon infusement. (maybe spoilery? idk)

Can you infuse unique weapons, like boss soul weapons or twinkling titanite weapons? I'd love to use a certain boss weapon with a Faith build.

So I bought a
key
in Firelink Shrine.
I thought it would unlock the area outside but it doesn't seem to. Any idea what opens that door?

For me this is already leagues beyond DS2 and I'm only three areas in after 10 or so hours. World design is fantastic and loops around in surprising ways just like DS1.

Its for the area outside towards the right side of firelink, if you go from the bonfire up the stairs and outside near a dead giant, its for that door.

That's a bit of hyperbole. I've seen successive areas loop in on themselves, but I've yet to see a loop even close to Dark Souls 1 original loop. Not even close.

Just beaten the 3rd boss.

Can someone give me a hint on how to
free the woman next to the guy wearing dragon armour in the Undead Settlement? I can see an area down the cliff that looks like could lead to her cell, but i can't figure out how to get there safely

Reading this thread makes me so excited!!! and then I think I have to wait until 12th of April =( Why Namco, why??? What did I do to you to torture me like that??=(

I can't for the life of me get
Holy Knight Hodrick
to invade, does anyone know his trigger point?

Have you killed the Tree boss in Undead Settlement? I read there's an enemy you can interact with in Undead Settlement who tells you to rescue an NPC from a cage on the back of a monster or something, he'll invade if you follow the steps correctly. If you beat the Tree boss before you do it though the NPC is killed and his body is by the altar in the boss arena, which means you can't join the covenant.

I have no idea how right that is but i haven't been able to trigger him either and that's what i've read.

I guess this may be useful for some people:

The broadsword goes to A scaling in strength at the +8 level if you infuse it with "heavy". So, you can level STR to 40, get access to all those cool clubs and heavy shields, but still have a super nice "fast weapon" that takes advantage of your stat investment.

any idea as to why all the npcs in the firelink disappeared after killing the first ''throne boss'' or so and haven't returned at all? I'm close to the end-game and they still aren't back.
they shouldn't be dead since there was no drop in their location.

Where was it? I haven't seen anyone use it yet :s
because it's garbage.
