HTC Vive is $799, ships early April 2016

That's the US store page. If you're in the uk you need to use a different one. although if you have an order confirmation at 15:03 you should be in he first wave of April shipments - mine is and my order confirmation was 15:04
 
I got the following response after filling in that form:

I took the liberty to check the order status and in regards your inquiry the shipment of your order will start on April. However we have not received any official date when the order will start to be processed, but you'll receive the tracking information via Email after your card is charged, also keep in mind the shipping method is 2 business days. This is the information we have at the moment; I hope this can help you resolve any doubt you may have." No firm commitment on which wave I'm in.

There was a link in the email which had some information at the top including "Product Name: VIVE Kit - April Shipment - US - Part 1" so I guess I should be in the first batch of orders then?

You're right. I checked my email again and there was a link for a European page. Thank you.
 
Got an email back from HTC. Mine won't be shipping until May.


Expected this, but was hoping to be pleasantly surprised. I fell asleep on accident when preorders went live, woke up 5 hours later and preodered. My own fault.


No word yet on my Rift, though I am expecting sometime in April.

I got the email too. Hype is reaching critical levels.

Does that mean that it can reach me even before 5th of April if they're already preparing them?
 
Same. But I ordered last week. Interesting if it mean jump the queue for no reason or just email everyone on the list.
 
So the pre-order page originally said the headset would ship in may, it now says new pre-orders will ship in APRIL. BOOM. There goes my 900 USD directly deposited into HTC/Valve's account. Looks like HTC's connections with manufacturers in Asia helped with ramping up production.

I live in a tiny nyc apartment and I don't meet the space requirements for room scale (I'm off by a 10 inches or so). I'd have to move my couch or computer which isn't happening. The good thing is that the Vive can do both Room Scale or Standing Only, or as I like to call it "Oculus mode"
 
I will mainly use it while sitting on my chair (playing Elite). But I will use the room-scale feature for presentations.

Do I have to change the calibration each time? Or reposition the lighthouses?

USA? For me it's showing May.
 
Uhhhh. I ordered my Vive like two days ago and I have an email saying it's being processed. Lol wtf. I can't even pay for it yet with this bank account i used.
Gotta change payment fast. Or go Rift.
Damn now I need to choose between the two.

My order details page on their site still says May. Weird.

CC# and email didn't work for me either. I had to use the order # and password.

Strictly speaking, you only need two in the immediate area (one for each base station). The two controllers come with their own power adapters, but you can recharge them anywhere.

Edit: Oh, wait, three including the headset's link box.

Thanks. I'll oscillate between feeling better and feeling worried for both of us. But I think if this is the case it's no big deal.

If you are using Gmail or some email client that separates types of emails, look in your Promotions tab or something. It didn't show up in the main part of my Gmail. I was freaked out too!

Yea I just started a helpdesk about this. Neither option worked for me.


I got the email this morning but my ship date was supposed to be May. I don't know if I should get excited yet.

Def not a big deal. If you received a confirmation email and you're able to view your order through one of the two methods then you're golden.
