Dark Souls III [Import OT] Kindle the fire, one last time

This physically hurts to read.
Either it's the same species as literally all the other ones or it's just a cosmetic reference. I guess it kind of shows that
Londor was probably the far away land from DS2 where the giants came from?
. Let's just ignore that though, they probably didn't think it through.

PvE mages suck dick in this game unfortunately. They didn't design the game around it.

The enemies are extremely aggressive in this game, yet spells still cost a shit ton of STAMINA (which is their way of fixing spells in slow ass games like DkS2). But it doesn't fit this game at all because enemies EASILY avoids your spells, and you can't do shit about it.

How to fix PvE casters in this game, FROM:

- either make spells cost A LOT less stam, or nothing at all
or
- let the character cancel out the spells

Moronic decisions.

Spells in general or some specific branch? I've seen pyromancy get some positive comments, at least.

I feel like the Prince should be easier than he is. I get that first part down and then I have issues having enough life for the last part.
Late game spoiler, so don't click. I've posted about this before, but I want to know if there are any tips.
I run around his side and then I have issues not getting hit because I am not as lucky as I was with the dragon slayer

It is literally mechanically and aesthetically identical to
giants from DS2
. If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's a duck.
___yes____
Right, and the enemy on that one bridge is definitely the
Watchdog. Its just a fun Easter egg, the Boreal Valley isn't secretly Yharnam
.

I guess the really important thing is that the giants aren't from DS2, they're from a place in DS1. Like all of the other important characters and enemies in the game.

If we ignore all the Dark Souls 2 references, Dark Souls 3 doesn't reference it at all! Genius :D

Pyro is viable but you still need a good sword and board 'cus the enemies close the gap so quickly and most have 5-7 hit combos. Plus, at least for my build I'm really squishy. I throw early fire and then switch to the fire katana.

No, I meant we should ignore the lore in Dark Souls 2 because it doesn't make sense and isn't well thought out, which is why they just ignore it in 3 anyway.

They don't but reading the past few pages it's obvious that your dislike for DaS2 clouds your judgment.

Hmmm, where am I supposed to go after beating
The Two Princes? The path ends there and the only other open place I see is that other path in Lothric Castle that leads to that Toxic area... is that optional or does that path lead to new areas afterwards?
.

Also, how far along am I? This all feels pretty late-game, but then again, back when I first played Dark Souls 1, I thought the game would end with Anor Londo :D

Anyone else house the first lord in two tries and wish it had taken 20? felf like it should have had 1.5-2x as much HP so that I could have dragged it out for an hour or two mastering it.

Absolutely god tier set piece and moveset though, maybe I just got lucky.

(JP PS4 version)

How do i upgrade the claymore you get from transforming the first or second boss soul. Really like it's attack patterns and look but regular titanite doesn't seem to do it.

Having a rough time deciding on a weapon... Still mostly using my starting axe (Warrior 戦士) imbued with Flame and upgraded to +1, but I have a bunch of other weapons that, while cool, just don't seem to have the stats. Makes me wish I could see their upgrade paths ahead of time.

Any weapon suggestions for a STR/DEX build? I'm in the forest area after defeating three bosses thus far (including tutorial).

They don't but reading the past few pages it's obvious that your dislike for DaS2 clouds your judgment.
I promise they do outside of a picture here and a name drop in an item description there. Unless you want to say that DS2 invented the idea that people have to link the fire every time it's going out, which doesn't make sense.

They did take the "you linked the fire in DS1" ending being canon from DS2 though.

I mean every side character comes from a location in DS1 for a reason.

You need demon titanite. You find most of it in the end game though.

I might have missed one but I just found the boss and the fire I'm at isn't too far away.
It's by one of those rolling skeleton balls on the other side of the gate you see when you come down the big staircase.

Damn, that's the one I found. The path leading up to the boss is annoying as hell, mainly because of the
instant transmission-using skeletons.

Also, fuck this area. Definitely the hardest Souls area I've played in a while, and it's still early in the game. I'm liking how the boss fight is though, too bad it keeps one-shotting me with
some kind of gas.

Well too bad. Since the cycles is from 2 and its very impprtant to 3
No no, the idea that you have to link the fire or else it will go out (and it eventually goes out again) comes from the first game. This just takes place much later, and a lot of people have linked it in the mean time. The fact that all of the Lords of Cinder linked the fire also forgets that nonsense "even if the fire goes out it'll come back because of the cycle" stuff from DS2.

There's no mention of all the nonsense "in between light and dark" or whatever stuff from SotFS, and it's obvious that the one ending from SotFS isn't canon.

Also, this creepy dude giving out free
levels
is suspect as hell, isn't it? Really curious about the downside to taking him up on his offer...

I just finished the boss on the bridge of Lorthic
castle
And now im at a large locked door and an elevator that dosent work. Right by the fourth bonfire. How do i proced?

the amount of times I've been all "ohhh shiiiiit" since I think around the mid-game point has been quite a bit

I don't hate DS2 by any means but this is totally the sequel that it should have been

Crap... I finished both the Two Princes and the guy near the toxic area in Lothric Castle - And both areas are dead ends. I have no idea where I might have missed something. What's the next place to go to after all that? Does any new area open up?

How do you get to two princes in the castle? From the bridge you fight the other boss?

Same here.

I always end up playing through these games with a weapon I found very early, and it's usually an axe. They strike a perfect balance between speed, strength, and reach.

I have a big-ass meat-cleaver-like weapon that I like to whip out every once in a while though.

can someone tell me how to get the red eye orb? im at end game and never found it. i know it can be had early on in the game
A guy shows up near the middle/top throne in Firelink after the second or third boss. Talk to him after a few trips back to the shrine and he'll give you a key. Go to the cell underneath the second high wall bonfire and beat a Darkwraith to get it!

did you ever
speak to the masked dude chilling by one of the chairs in firelink? talk to him and reload the area a few times and you'll get a key to the cell in Lothric and kill a Dark Wraith to get it

Place the remains of each Lord of Cinder in the appropriate thrones at Firelink Shrine to commence end-game.

Alternatively, two secret areas await you. One behind the toxic guy you defeated (illusory wall), and another using the gesture you learned from defeating that same boss near Irithyll Dungeon (you know, the opening with all the praying dragon dudes looking outwards.

I know the general impression is that this game is a worthy sequel gameplay wise, but is the story/lore worthy of the series? Bloodborne is the best in this regard imo with DS1 right behind.

Yes....though I'm only around the half way point...I think anyways. It's really been everything DS2 should have been in that regard imo.

It's hard to tell so far, but the game has sort of a "greatest hits" vibe to it (not in a bad way) with tons of callbacks to Dark Souls 1. It mixes things up enough to surprise you and keep it fresh. I like it but it's no Dark Souls or Bloodborne lore-wise, although things might change once item descriptions are translated.

Way better than Dark Souls 2.

I do not own this game yet but I figure this is the best place to ask this.

Are there weapons similar to the Bone Fist from DS2, or the Burial Blade, from Bloodborne? I mean this in terms of movesets, as I'd love to try out a more agile character this time around and forego a shield as much as possible.

Look at this jump you can make early in the game to get access to some stuff early.

early game spoil obviously

this allows access to
the crow, an estus flask upgrade shard, and the serpent ring
right at the very start of the game without buying any $20,000 key. Only took a few tries honestly though maybe I got lucky.

where is this located?

Where do I go after
Undead Settlement
?

Killed the boss (
tree guy
) and did the shrine thing but don't know how to get to the next area.

There are some weapons with very nice movesets. Arcing sweeps, jumping overheads, etc.

You'll have fun for sure :D

With your back to the boss door go straight and you'll eventually find a bridge on your left. It'll lead to the next area and an optional area too.

From the bonfire leading up to the tree boss (not the one after defeating it)go to the elevator that takes you up to the tower, but this time go down. There will be a monster waiting for you there. Beat it and open the door for the next area.

Opposite of the boss door, there's a pretty wide area outside where you can go left over a bridge to progress.

where is this located?

Outside of firelink. There's an upper area where you can exit where you'll see a locked door, a ladder you can't reach and that tree.
