yeah, it should be easy for him :) This morning I realized what I found though was more of a trigger to make it freeze the engine clock but not the real timestop (as that's activated when pressing ESC). So there is actually somewhere else a better hack located. Will see if I can track that down today.
 
Wow! I wish Witcher 3 had skin textures that good. There's something slightly off with Witcher 3. I think the scale is wrong, the pores are too big, or no subsurface scattering. Arkham Knight is perfection.

BAK is really outstanding in terms of char models, all in game and really stunning, its a bit underrated compared to other games in that regard, Batgirl is the most i like it but you can see the good work in any of them.

Do I need to add the same screenshot from the original version for you to see that they're the same?

Perhaps I am mistaken, but doesn't doom3 BFG not ship with the uncompressed textures originally only available for 512 mb cards on Doom3's original 2004 release?

I swear that was a thing (along with differences in shadow projection projectiles, self shadowing commands, and the flash light).
 
Newflash: Doom 3 BFG is not vanilla Doom 3.
In all seriousness: who cares. This thread is about great shots. Who cares whether they're from a game version which shipped with better textures, a mod, vanilla or otherwise.

What's a great shot is of course subjective, but IMHO this thread is intended for great graphics created with a game. What game is irrelevant, as long as it's not an eyesore due to massive compression or low res EGA graphics with a hud.

there was also some DF praise for the 16tap motion blur in the BFG edition. at least i think it was DF

Well, yeah, probably, but as you've said - you could disable the compression in the original release as well if you've had enough VRAM (this was done via the menu by selecting "very high" textures if memory serves me right). BFG is different in lightning a bit as there are more light sources overall but I'd say that omitting this and some gamma differences it looks very close to how the game originally looked back in 2004.

Cheers. Yeah that lod is a real bummer and it's not going away no matter what I do to try and hide it..sigh. Otherwise a stunning looking game all round. Timestop would be great to capture some fight scenes and cape movement. I hope you get it working. Good luck!

Managed to track down the real engine-clock stop flag in AC Syndicate. Took some serious asm debugging (which I haven't done since my Amiga500 days! was pretty fun :)). Combined with the flag I found yesterday it enables camera but disables the game clock completely so perfect timestop, with 1 keypress. Thanks :) No, sorry, not at the moment. In theory, it should be possible though, but I then have to create a different CT, with AOB scanning, and hope that the code didn't change between Unity and Syndicate (the code is largely the same, but can differ at places). So it works best if a specific CT is created for Unity. I don't have Unity yet, but if I do I'll try to recreate the CT for that too :) (Hatti has the CT, so I hope he can find the 2 places for Unity as well for his camera :))
 
The lighting in those doom screens looks really, really wrong. Is it brighter on purpose? Is it a mod or is Doom 3 BFG just brighter overall? It just looks bad (not complaining about the screenshots tho just the look of the game). Id take OG Doom 3 with sikkmod any day of the week.

Half lambert falloff makes some of the ambient lightning "larger" - it's not really brighter, it's just that the light field itself ends further away from the light source. I dunno, I prefer it this way as it makes the game way less - not even dark but pure black - overall. I can see more details and the screenshots are less of a darkness in darkness.

The FOV is also smaller. The vanilla BFG game is also "brighter".
 
Are Dark Souls 3 shots okay to post yet? I've got about a week's worth, heh. I can post them in spoiler tags, or just wait until the game's out.
