Sounds like complete and utter nonsense, but you seem to have passed the snifftest once.Bish
As long as my PS4 remains supported, i'm okay with this. Might sell it for an upgrade eventually.

I don't know but a 10 year and 2.5 year cycle seem a bit different to me, maybe I'm just imagining things...
All y'all complain now, but when they show mind-melting GOW4K, all y'all be buyin'
It was stated plainly and with no room for interpretation that there are developers that already have development kits for the PS4K and that they are making games that will directly target and take advantage of the higher specs of the PS4K. It was also stated that these games will in fact work for the PS4 but with considerable sacrifices made to performance.
And GTA6 at 15-30fps on whatever hardware it launches on.Can't wait to buy GTA V for the third time on playstation
You won't go pc and here's why. You like the console experience. If anything the cost will be higher on pc. Users essentially need to pay ~$400+ for a new video card every couple years. Getting a completely new console for $400-500 is not a bad deal at all. Then throw in the fact that on pc you'll have to eventually upgrade your processor and motherboard.
Everything equal, console gaming is still cheaper if that's your concern.
It's funny that this outrages people. Sony is giving you (potentially) better framerates, better resolutions and better graphics and people are....angry about this? What...? I get not wanting to pay for something new but the experience will be objectively better in all aspects.
And that's who they'll target first. When the costs come down a bit they'll target the usual crowd.
How isn't it? Have you seen the AAA games recommended specs from last year and this year's games? (I know you will have) Unless you want to play the latest games at 20fps with low to medium settings your forced to upgrade your GPU and CPU and it's looking increasingly like RAM will be the next thing that's forced to upgrade.
Same. I'll be done with consoles and just stick to PC, which I already have to upgrade frequently.
Utter nonsense. Some devs struggle to hit 900p/30fps on these machines and now they'll have to optimise for TWO specs, one significantly higher? Lmao. Looking forward to 720p/30fps down ports.
i bought two ps4's. if they don't have an upgrading program

Okay you're right, they spend ~$700+ every couple years. Sorry to go low. A gtx 980 water cooled costs over $700.
The Wall Street Journal implied they might be keeping the regular PS4 as a cheaper model in their primary markets as well.
Yeah, 3DS and Wii U are on life-support now.The Wii U is the Wii U. Killing it off early is the smart business move.
The PS4 is the leading console that most people participating in this gen own. That is why there's a difference. More people stand to feel like they're being burned as early adopters.
Didn't Nintendo set this precedent with the NEW Nintendo 3DS?

Third party support will be watered down games again, shame.
No you got nothing. You are making an assumption about an assumption I didn't even make lmfao.
I never said anything about Nintendo doing this right, honey. You just getting on console wars on me. Whatever lol.
Risky move by Sony too, tbf. PS4 is selling superbly.
Except that the N3DS didn't become the standard focus. Is it that hard for people to understand lol.
Those who got an N3DS got screwed(unless they never own an original 3DS). What they got a Wii game port as an exclusive? Better performance for a WiiU game port? Come on. Please.
Hmm, a $400 GPU upgrade will invariably give you significantly higher performance than an entire new box for a sum total of $400. (Also, you are completely ignoring online fees)You won't go pc and here's why. You like the console experience. If anything the cost will be higher on pc. Going from 30FPS to solid 60FPS would, in the general case, require twice the sequential CPU performance. That seems quite unlikely. If Sony and FROM patch Bloodborne to run at 60 fps, I'll buy this thing on day one.
Otherwise, I'll wait until next year before picking one up. I just bought my PS4 six months ago!

But look at games like Uncharted or Horizon: Zero Dawn. If those games are the best-looking games on "vanilla" PS4, that would really suck to not have the hardware get pushed like pretty much every console has been.
The philosophy of throwing hardware at the problem is for PC. Nothing wrong with that philosophy, but it's directly opposed to what a console has been for the last 30 years. If they want to throw hardware at the problem on consoles too, I may just switch over to PC and let PS4 be my last console (depending on what Nintendo does).
I used to play a ton of PC gaming but switched over to handhelds/consoles around 2008 because I appreciated the ease-of-use and the lack of hardware headaches (not saying every PC is like that, but it was my own situation).
Since handhelds have mostly died out, I've been leaning on the PS4 for that ease-of-use, and it's a fantastic system for that. However, if they're just going to dilute their own market by throwing hardware iterations at me, I'm probably going to just re-learn the nuances of PC (it has been a few years) and make that my home.
Soooo much extra work for basically fuck all. And then you will have people bitching cause the console they just bought is showing shitty graphics compared to whats they can get soon.
Thats certainly a possibility. There have been whispers of an upgraded Xbox for a while, and if anyone knew one was coming that wasn't MS it would be Sony. They also have some info on NX more than likely and if there is a decent power gap with that as well I could certainly see why Sony would do this. If they didn't its possible they go from strongest hardware in the console space to the weakest.
Very weird. I was expecting a 64GB, 10 Teraflop powered, PS5 in 2019. This is kinda disappointing.
