I mean... the Nintendo Account stuff has hooks to get you to spend money in the eShop. At least, it worked on me. So... like that I guess.

FWIW, Iwata spoke before about how apps existed primarily to direct more people towards interacting more deeply and frequently with Nintendo, so that's probably the plan here. I'm going to guess that their next game (or first game, should I say) will be more microtransaction heavy.

1 - Yes, as long as it's not protected you can import your Mii no problem
2 - The easiest to miss are the ones you get from other people, you can't really do much about that. And you can start using them the moment you've gotten them in the game. Like immediately.
