I'm really thinking about grabbing this phone or the G4, which I'm sure will get a price cut around my area. I really want to know how much they are going to launch the G5 here, but the phone is only rumored to launch on April 28.

I guess that's enough time for me to actually see if I am grabbing an LG phone, or getting an Iphone SE, though I am kinda sick of iOS.

VR headset and 360 camera are up at B&H for $199 USD each.

While I'm definitely keen on picking up a new phone soonish, I think I'm leaning towards the V10 or it's successor at this stage. I was hoping they'd spend the month before launch showcasing more attachments or at least announce more partnerships with certain companies but there's been no news whatsoever on more "friends".

Not a fan of the fingerprint scanner on the side. I agree they should have left the volume buttons though. I can't wait to play around with the wide angle camera.

I had a G2 and G3 as my last phones after a Galaxy S3.

LG basically made sure I didn't buy the G5 as it has almost none of the things that actually attracted me to the GX line.

The 5.5 to 5.1 inch screen change was the deal breaker for me.

5.3 on G5

I do see your point though. I personally prefer larger like you, but I think LG is right that most prefer something a bit smaller.

Not sure that's going to help them against the S7 though.

Went from a Galaxy s3 to LG G3.

Unsure where to go from here, however. Disappointed with the displacement of the volume buttons and smaller screen. Currently a top up between the G5 and V10.

I look forward to seeing reviews of it. I bought a Nexus 5X last month, so a new phone isn't exactly an option right now.

Idk whether to upgrade to this or G4 from a G3.

Wait for reviews in case it ends up sucking. This is the first time LG has changed it's design philosophy since the G2, and it's a pretty ambitious change on top of it. Caution is recommended.

I have the G3 too. Thinking about going with the V10

Don't go with the V10. I had it and it was a miserable experience. The second screen crashed constantly, the phone would get mega hot, the UI would get horribly sluggish and damn near unusable in some cases. The only good thing about that phone was the camera, and even then the one in my GS7E beats that.

Funny my experience is completely opposite of yours I also have the V10 and haven't had any major issues. It's far from miserable. I love the ticker/2nd screen (being able to launch apps, answer the phone and control my music from there is really convenient) and it has only crashed a couple of times. My phone doesn't over heat. The camera is amazing. Manual control over the camera and video is a really nice feature.

I was looking forward to the G5 but I'm not impressed I'll stick to my V10 and look forward to the next V10.

Sounds like you got a defective phone.

I just got the V10 and I'm pretty happy with it. The DAC has been nice. I'm glad I didn't wait for the G5 now too lol More expensive with the DAC attachment.

I'd only consider the international models.

Shame that Android is allowing US carriers to sell variants with locked bootloaders.

International versions do not have this problem due to laws protecting consumers.

I decided on this being my next phone. Pre-ordered it, got the free charger, battery, and 360 camera. Also got a $100 best buy gc, they're giving me a $65 trade in for my beat HTC M8, and changed my plan so I'm paying $22 less a month. Think I got a pretty good deal.

I do like the mods for it, just wonder if LG will realize it's potential. I'll probably get the rolling bot if it's priced right.

Been with the G3 for two years and it's treated me pretty well.

But I've almost been turned off of this by how obnoxious the marketing has been for this.
Yes, a removable battery is a major selling point for a phone, but being able to slide the battery out on the subway or on a basketball court or standing on a bridge mean nothing to me.

Either way I think I'm going to make my decision based on VR and am interested in how this compares to the gear.

Hopefully this isn't a piece of shit. I'll be picking it up in a few hours, so I'll chime in. The attachments hold zero interest from me, and I don't really care about the camera much either. I just want it to be snappy as fuck and the battery to not be anything terrible.

Here's to nothing ridiculous popping up about it.

I would get it but no wireless charging is hard to ignore for me. It's very important for me.
Not sure if it's possible, but a wireless charging attachment would be pretty sweet. I guess it would have to be made of plastic though, which might feel weird with the phone being metal.

Yea if my unit is like that Im going to throw a shitstorm.
I just picked mine up and haven't seen any of the issues that unit was having. The metal is all even, and it has a nice finish to it (titanium version). The metal casing does feel like some sort of hybrid of materials, though. I'll have to check on the light bleeding issue more extensively later tonight, but it looks fine as of now. Only issue I'm having now is adjusting to a new screen after starting at my G2 for so long. Also, the camera bump on the back isn't nearly as prominent as it was made out to be, or as it looked in photos.

I'll report back tonight with further impressions.

One thing to note is that the Always On display is dim, but definitely not illegible or unreadable like I've seen some preview and reviews say. It auto adjusts to the light of the room, though I'm not sure if that is specifically tied to what brightness setting you use for your display. I like it.

One thing to note is that the phone is getting a bit warm to the touch. Not sure if this has anything to do with it currently being on the charger, but I don't remember having this happen with my G2 at all. I'll take it off in a bit and see if it persists.

Edit: The Always On display is pretty dim when viewing outside in daylight. Extremely dim to be honest. It's fine otherwise.

So I picked mine up. One store didn't have so I had to go to another. They didn't have the silver so I just got the gold. The gold actually looks quite nice. I have no blemishes as far as I can see. Everything is snappy. Haven't checked the light bleed or anything yet. Oh and not gap on the bottom thank god. Screen seems quite nice at first glance though.

This looks like the worst flagship release in a long time. QC on Erica's unit was awful and the reviews so far are pretty much a pass in particular with such strong competition from the S7.

I wanna upgrade from my G2. I bricked it (though I was able to unbrick it. That phone is truly unbrickable...). Anyway, I think I'll go with the G3 or G4. The G5 doesn't seem like it's worth the price right now.
