Limited Run Games - Putting digital games into your hands

So, is the Vita version gonna be less expensive than the PS4's since it has less content?

No it will be the same price. Please remember that Vita carts are significantly more expensive to produce (in this particular case it was three times more expensive for us to manufacture a Vita copy vs a PS4 copy). The benefit here is that we're not shunning the Vita due to that high cost and we're also not taking the RCR route of having the Vita version cost more.

Just out of curiosity, is this going to have more copies than SMRPG ?

We're going to go ahead and offer a printable replacement cover for Oddworld without the review scores. The game is already very far into production (we'll actually have it in hand within the next two weeks) so we can't offer anything else.

While we're at it, we'll also offer printable covers for Saturday Morning RPG (Vita) and Breach & Clear (Vita). The printable SMRPG cover will have the PS4 art, while the printable B&C cover will add the Limited Run catalog number to the spine.

Eventually we want to offer slip cases for SMRPG and B&C that will offer similar corrections but allow you to keep your games sealed (if you prefer).

I really liked the idea of a slipcover.
Is the art going to be different?

There currently isn't, because there are no confirmed dates. :) LRG only starts selling once the copies are produced and in hand, so it's hard to plan too far in advance.

I get that, but having a page that I know I can check and will always have the latest information would be nice. Even if it says "Expected April" and then once it's confirmed it could be updated. It would just make it easier than having to sort through forums and tweets.

Two things I wanted to share about a recent interview with Douglas:

Q:If Limited Run Games could work with any developer on any digital game, what would it be and why?

A:Sega and Yakuza 5. All the Yakuza games in the main series so far have had a physical edition, even the future titles that are finally coming here have physical versions coming. But Yakuza 5 does not, which makes absolutely no sense (well, it does in some cases...). But to think that entry will be the only game that was localized and did not get a physical edition is just crazy to me. Not to mention it makes my shelf look incomplete!

Q:Are there any older digital titles that you'd love to help "bring back" as a physical copy?

A:Outlast, Mercenary Kings, Transistor, Guacamelee... I could probably keep going. We want to see as many games as possible in physical form to preserve them.

That's what I call good taste, the game they'd love to work more than any is yakuza 5(mine too) and among the other list there are three top for me too(outlast, transistor and guacamelee) (although I also like mercenary kings too). But so so so so so near to the games I'd like the most.

It's all true! We want all those games and Yakuza 5 is a huge priority!

In terms of print sizes we might start having more PS4 than Vita but the overall size will be bigger for both! We had Vita copies for SMRPG still available a lot longer than PS4. It felt like a lot of people bought Vita just because they couldn't get PS4. So this will free up Vita copies for actual fans of the Vita.

If you can get all those games I'll die in happiness, obviously I will buy all of them, just make that happen!
For the print sizes it's fine as long as everyone grabs their copy,it's a pretty intelligent movement to make a wider print size for ps4 as everything there sells a lot and I don't think we'll get lower quantities than smrpg for next vita games.

Almost got through today fine and then my friend decided to tell me Oddworld went on sale instead of just listed. Had a panic moment as I rushed over to the site on my phone -_-

LRG: Just inked a contract for a physical version of a very awesome PS4 and Vita game. This one will be a great addition to the family!

What do you guys think it is?

They also said "There was a pun or two in that last tweet. Can't say anything more."

So... ink and family... ink, octopus, squid... family... kid. Splatoon Vita port confirmed.

Day of the Tentacle? Can't be.

A:Hmmm... could be and a happy face.

So I think we're getting skullgirls and either unfinished swan or octodad.

I'm in for both PS4 and Vita versions of Oddworld, freaking love the Oddworld lore and designs... Hopefully, I'll be successful, as I think this will be their strongest test yet , a mini FFXV special edition type scenario.

Sign me up for Octodad also, among many other in the future!

LRG keeping the Vita alive just a little bit longer

I wonder how hard it'll be to continue ordering all Vita games from now on, they're signing too many games and it's getting hard to keep up with everything.

Don't worry, we're trying not to overwhelm people. We're signing a bunch of games but each release takes several months to complete. We're trying not to do more than two Vita games and two PS4 games per month.

My life would be complete if you guys are able to make a Yakuza 5 physical edition.

Interesting that Yakuza 5 is being mentioned again. Still feel like someone should make an LE of one of the games that comes with a branded shot glass and the OST on a vinyl LP. :) Would probably be more appropriate for Yakuza Zero or Kiwami, but it'd work for any of them.
