So cool.

Uniform looks straight out of Grand Admirals from the novels, but he got no yellow in those squares, so it is just Admiral.

Checking the trailer again, yeah... I'm not a big fan of the edgier look of some of the characters here. I like the slightly "happier" look of Rey, Fin and the others compared to these new guys. They also get in serious situations but it's mixed with a bit more cheeky stuff which I think is also part of what makes Star Wars what it is.

I'm definitely looking forward to this movie and I don't hate the characters either, but I'm slightly concerned about whether they might have made them a bit too edgy, that's all.

I'm happy to tell you then that, apart from the 4 already existing films with the tone you're looking for, you'll get like 2 more of those in the near future.

That drilling in the latter half of the trailer theme was annoying as fuck. Sounds like Jar Jar sounding his mating call.

Movie looks alright. I like how so far they're playing up the empire as much more of an imposing threat. Unlike Daisy Ridley though I'm not particularly sold on this actress yet. Will have to wait and see how it unfolds.

Oh and this, who is that actress? The likeness was incredible.

EDIT: Do we know who the big bad imperial leader is meant to be? Tarkin or someone totally different?

Imperial has a General/Admiral Rank. Uniform wise it looks like what was used for Imperial Security though they could of course pull the whole Grand Admiral thing though its pretty well established even in New Canon that the Death Star was Tarkin's baby

You gotta wonder how effective whacking a Stormtrooper in the head would really be. I mean those helmets are pretty beefy, I'm getting flashbacks to Merry & Pippin taking out Uruks with little stones.

Still, this looks pretty damn good. Modern, but still very much in line with the OT.

All I'm saying is it felt a bit weird. The action is great, the dialogue was a bit cheesy in a bad way (for me) and some of them looked angry in a quite forced way.

Something in the same tone as TFA or any of the other Star Wars movies shouldn't be inherently boring either! You can tell many interesting stories while keeping the mood.

Either way I'm so looking forward to this movie!

Nah. I like a different tone and feel for the standalone's.

Meaning, it feels like the SLJ casting in the prequels to me - instead of seeing a character, I see SLJ (or in this case Donnie or Forrest), and it takes me out of it a bit. Forrest is a goddamn amazing actor, probably way too good for SW, so its not a knock on him, it's just what my first thoughts were ("hey, it's Donnie Yen and Forrest Whitaker"). I'm sure I'll be the only person on earth to feel that way haha.
You're not, I hate known actors in SW too. Those two from Lost in TFA took me out from the movie.

Felicity Jones is a good actress, but I do tend to agree that almost all of her line deliveries in the teaser fall flat.

Yeah I really loved it. I don't have high hopes for Boba Fett or young Solo but this one looks dope.

Fake edit: Two consecutive Star Wars movies with female lead! Somebody somewhere is typing angry stuff right now.

It looks...better than awakens? I wasn't expecting to like this. But it looks pretty slick.

Is it just the minority actors that stick out
Mostly kidding.

Looks okay, but after TFA I'll keep my hype in check. Plus, I get the feeling that making good trailer for this move will be harder than for TFA :p

Looks really good. Didn't know it had so many good actors in it. Third most hyped movie of the year for me now (after Civil War and Doctor Strange).

No man, I thought Episode VII was the only one we were getting!

Fair enough. I'm looking forward to it anyway, just wondering how this different style will match with Star Wars and the rest of the films.

It doesn't have to match. It can be it's own thing. It's doesn't have to be Marvel.
