I don't really like this genre but jaysus I love games set in space. Will probably pick it up.
Have I read it's supposed to be more accessible than some of their other games?
Saw this on reddit, I didn't see it on the stream but someone did and screenshotted it.
A ringworld.

You have. Equal starts (other than Fallen Empires) go a long way towards that end, but on the whole it seems a lot easier to wrap your head around.
Op says release date is February so what is the actual release date paradox is saying at this time?

This game is going to be the end of me.
This game is going to be the end of me. Music is still awesome.
I just can't see myself going anywhere near GalCiv 3 again or even the new MoO, well, maybe the MoO depending on how it turns out but still. Kind of like I have trouble playing Civ V (despite the amazing community balance patch)/BE because it feels like there is a strict path and there isn't really a reason to try new/other ways because they are clearly inferior.
It's going to end us all

Today's @StellarisGame fact: Uplifted species get happiness bonus. QA's fav exploit was to uplift a race and then purge main species.
Hmmmm, I don't know what to make of the supposed '3 phases' gameplay.
I hope it isn't meant like first you explore, contact then conflict in that strict order but rather something more organic and mixed.

I am still wary of bugs (and billion DLCs, but those are ok as long as we can revert patches). It's a Paradox game after all.
I'm thinking Farscape's moya... you know, the Blorg actually kind of remind me of Dominar Rygel XVI
Farscape?Never heard of the series... recommended?

Not to worried since CK2 and EU4 launched pretty well if I remember correctly. At least nothing game breaking. Just some balancing issues and exploits.I am still wary of bugs (and billion DLCs, but those are ok as long as we can revert patches). It's a Paradox game after all.
IS this 4x or more like RTS?
Standard paradox game minus the familiar map.

+ it appears to have stable multiplayer at launch.Stellaris diverges from all of our other games in certain key respects:
It is not historical.
It features a symmetrical start.
You start out small.
Most of the world is unknown.
Every new thing about this game makes me more and more excited. Paradox just take all my money already, you own my wallet.+ it appears to have stable multiplayer at launch.
I love the Culture ship names.
4X and grand strategy hybrid. nothign like your typical RTS.
Think Civilization in space, that slowly turns into a much deeper game composed of intertwining diplomatic/political systems.
sounds like right up my alley.
Todays dev diary is about Pop Factions and Elections, which might sound like two wildly different topics, but they actually have some common ground. Lets start with the Pop Factions. Now, as you know, each individual unit of population (a.k.a. Pop), has its own race, ethos and possibly even genetic differences compared to its species of origin. People who live far from the capital world of an empire - especially those who live in Administrative Sectors - tend to diverge in their Ethics over time. When you combine this with alien immigration and the conquest of alien worlds, you will soon have to deal with a potentially explosive mix of cultural diversity. As your empire grows, it will get harder and harder to keep everyone happy and your core group of loyalists might eventually find itself a minority. Discontent can manifest in two ways; the happiness of an individual Pop, and the growth of Factions, a type of political movement.
