"Quantum Break is now the best-selling new Microsoft Studios IP this generation"

Dont know. But that is what he said.

He never said it was cheaper. That statement just says the live action wasn't as expensive as a tv show. The only comparison is that animated cut scenes would be more complicated and expensive "in some ways" whatever that means.

See above. Doesnt matter. Cutscenes or live action. You still need to pay them.

An actual acting gig pays differently from a VA gig though. We don't know the rates everyone made but I am sure the pay is more for acting not to mention it would have to deal with the union most likely.

I wish Microsoft Studios IP's were as creative as their marketing team.

Well there is Quantum Break...
But then people complain. ;)

All of my responses to people's conversations are going to be gifs...slow day at work ,lol

Oke thats fair. But counters the fact that because of the live action it was probably a expensive game to make.

The game still looks kinda boring. Or maybe I should say pedestrian. The graphics and power effects do look pretty boss though. I still await a trusted reviewer to give me the skinny. I've heard positive things and even hyperbole of how amazing it is so not trying to plunk 60 bucks on hype I don't trust. At the very least it's finally nice to actually be interested in buying a game for my Xbox One at all.

It would be an absolute epic failure if it didn't beat out Ryse etc given the install base must be at least two three four five???? Times that when those games hit launch or very close to launch.

The exclusive launch titles for XB1 actually sold really well, though. Forza 5, Dead Rising 3, and Ryse all put up pretty good numbers because people generally buy a lot of games at console launches. The libraries are smaller early on as well (with no games on sale).

The game already has close to 90 reviews. Which reviewer are you waiting on?

True his statement seems to suggest the costs of the live action were not a huge expense but they also lead to the problem of having to stream the movies which is an ongoing bandwidth costs versus traditional animated being completely on the disc.

From a certain point of view?

Yeah I have no clue what they mean by that. I don't see why they would have trouble getting good animators to do contract work for them. Especially with Microsoft having the resources they do.

I am enjoying it. The time powers are nifty.

If you saw some of this game's craziest combat sections, and especially the way the story and character moments come together, you wouldn't think it looks boring. This is a game that keeps you on the edge of your seat the entire time. It's a fun ride the entire way through, always challenging you.

Is it voice only?

Use of someone's likeness is usually part of the VA contract but would be separately negotiated. Also a lot of time the VA doesn't match the character model.

It's a thrill ride until you are forced to stop for a bad syfy show. Luckily you can skip them and get back to the good stuff.

Why the laughing smiley? It's a good example, Sony (and others) usually ignore their failures, if they tried they could probably make up a good PR for TO 1886 (it did better than QB in the UK actually), yet they didn't, probably cause it didn't do so well.

That was just me hiding my sadness under a smiley. :(

Quantum Break and also Shadow of Mordor are the only games this gen that made me say wow this feels next gen.

I still haven't gotten the chance to progress past the very early parts of Shadow of Mordor. Will definitely come back to it at some point, though. I'll be doing some more Quantum Break before that, however. :)

Qb is fucking amazing. Let MS have this PR. Its one of my favorite games ao far this gen. Im probably gonna replay it too. Hardly ever do that for SP

Just when I thought MS PR had fallen off, they totally redeemed themselves!

A few acts in I thought about quitting cause the combat wasn't clicking. I wasn't playing it like a cover shooter either. Found out the problem was mine, the powers recharge quicker than I mentally thought (with all the Action going on I pay no attention to those little icons on the right of the screen and have no idea which is which anyway). Now the game is really clicking for me. By the time you use a different power the previous power used will have recharged. It prevents you from spamming the same power over and over, yet is flexible enough that you have options on how to deal with each enemy. Can't wait to play more of it.

Actually, the show was really quite good, way better from a acting and overall quality perspective than I was expecting. I was in a position where I never wanted the episodes to end at times, because of how engrossed I was into the whole story. I was reading all the optional content there was to see, so whenever the episodes came off, I had the luxury of added context to the characters personalities and the overall happenings inside monarch in way that only enhanced the effectiveness of the episodes. I literally stopped to read EVERYTHING I came across in this game. Nothing was skimmed or not thoroughly read through.

What are your thoughts on the tv show? I really enjoyed the game but I thought the show was terrible and really didn't add anything to the experience. I really wish they had just gone with a more traditional approach.

It really clicked with some people but I just couldn't stand them. The acting was stiff and they didn't feel well directed.

I agree for the most part, the TV sections aren't nearly as bad as reviews made it out to be.

That's a pretty short list to compare to but I hope it's financially successful because it looks like a blast and has some fresh ideas.

Honestly, that's well deserved for what I strongly believe to be the best game so far this generation.

It's actually not nearly what this game deserves. Should have been massive with how good the visuals + gameplay is.

Yeah my only issue is the games pacing takes you out of the action far to often for my liking and some of the combat scenarios are too easy even on harder difficulties

Yup, i actually enjoyed 'em quite a lot, especially the last one, really wanted a fifth one badly tbh

Apart from maybe a couple of spotty performances it was really good, lots of action sequences as well

lol yea people can come out the woodwork and quote this or quote that, but this game is as good as it gets. So people with their "omg senjutsusage thinks an xbox one game is good" stuff means nothing. :)

Honestly that stuff makes a huge difference in the game. There is so much extra story and character progression in the data files that it's a little daunting. There seems to be one or two per act that are really quite important to the story too. A certain journal in Act 4 was a game changer.

Great for Remedy and MS!

With these opening sales they've been able to recoup the costs of 5 minutes of one of the live action segments!

Well done indeed!

How much budget does a 5 minute segment of the show take to produce, including both pre and post production?

We got Games Sales GAF and TV Sales GAF all in the one thread ;p
