Dark Souls 3 PC performance thread

Nvidia's beta branch has the same build as the public branch as of 23 hours ago, so it must be aware of the power management bug. Hopefully there's a hotfix within the next day or two.

Is the small stutter on the auto save universal or is that only impacting some people?

I have it too. It's not on every auto save, but whenever it happens, there's always the icon on the top right of the screen. It's installed on a SSD too.

It was fine on my i5-3570k and a GTX670 on medium settings with 45-60 fps fluctuations from the start to the first boss but once I reached Firelink Shrine the game just tanked to 20 fps levels.

For anyone having issues with their ps4 controller with ds4windows, go to setting and check the "hide ps4 controller/icon"

Should work fine after that

Running perfectly at 1080p and 60fps with all settings max. I can get it to 1440p on high settings at a relatively stable 60fps, but I rather the rock solid performance and max settings of 1080p.

My pc is a 4790k, 16gb ddr3 at 2400mhz, and an R9 390.

Playing this game in Big Picture Mode and/or Steam Controller seems to cause crashes for me. I figured I'd let people know. I have yet to see it crash when I launch it from normal Steam interface and a 360 controller.

What resolution are you running it at? What FPS are you getting?

I myself have a 650ti, but a boost.

Thanks!

running great on a 650ti set to medium. only got to first 'boss' so far though.

Same here. Kinda worried the game would be unplayable but I got a great deal on it months ago and decided to buy it even though I can't upgrade my PC yet. Currently downloading and it won't be done till tomorrow so I do wonder what to expect.

I haven't had any crashes yet but I do encounter the "stuttering while saving" bug (which I consider game-breaking) and the irritating audio bug that cuts out all sound when you're moving around in the menu. Very disappointing port.

GTX780 3GB, i5-4670K 3.4GHz, 16GB RAM at 1080p. Settings at Max (apart from lighting set to Low so the game doesn't constantly crash at bonfires) and It's running well. Mostly 60, few drops to high 50s, random stutters every now and then when autosaving. Not every autosave though but enough to be noticeable.

Game hasn't crashed since setting lighting to Low.

EDIT: oh, want to add that I'm using a DS4 with DS4Windows with no issues at all. I've noticed some people having an issue with it but it's been fine for me.

Keeps crashing when getting close to a Bonfire. I've tried different settings (Low, Medium, High, Max) and just Lighting at Low. When playing in Big Picture mode and it crushes I have to reboot, no BP then after crashing it takes me back to desktop.

When it is running fine...it's Glorious! Rock solid 60FPS (1080) but I do get some stuttering when it saves. I hope a patch is out soon, I'm sure this will be quite a journey :)

Specs:

GTX 780 - EVGA SC
i7 4770K
16GB RAM DDR3 - Dominator Plat.
Win 7 Ultimate

Drivers: 362.00 (afraid to upgrade)
Using Xbox One controller without a problem.

Patch it Pronto!

Try depth of field off or low. Same with motion blur. Very you will get no dips and add they don't offer much...won't be missed.

Considering 364.72 drivers have been out for several weeks now, released on March 28, and issue reports started to surface soon after release NV has been pathetically slow to get fixed drivers out. Worst reported issue that I have seen for this driver version is bricked GPU, how you even create driver that can do that?

It's insane isn't it? I got the new drivers a couple weeks back and not long after most of the games I were playing would suddenly tank in performance down to the 10s to 20s. I had no fucking idea what was wrong until I remembered I updated drivers, so I rolled back two drivers and bam, fixed it.

On topic however, I'm running a 2500K with a 660 and 8GB RAM at 1080p. Honestly, performance is not great. I've set everything to minimum and it's all over the place, constantly dropping and stuttering, along with small freezes. This isn't just when the game is saving either, I get it a lot especially when turning the camera around a lot. It's playable, I've managed to get to the second area, but it's definitely far from optimal. It's about 40-50 average with drops to 30 on average and highs of 60.

I stutter whenever the game auto-saves and whenever I pick up an item from a corpse.

Otherwise, no crashes and smooth.

So I am stuttering and low fps when using the 360 controller.. O_o

When I use the contorllers right stick to move the camera it lags/stutters/low fps but when I use the mouse its butter smooth. Umm Help?

Performance gets really bad, can improve if game loses then gains focus and then goes bad again. CPU seems to get too low as well, clocks down to 1.5ghz during gameplay and seems to only go higher on loading screens.

i initially intended to have everything maxed out at 1440p but chickened out in the end and started with 1080. but everything ran so smooth i couldn't resist and switched to 1440. it compromised me about about 15fps at times but everything ran way better than i thought it would

I get 99% GPU usage.

While my CPU only gets 20% usage.

I've not had any problems with performance. On max settings I'm getting 40-60fps at 1440p. Mostly in the 50s.

I've a 3570k @ 4.2ghz and a 970.

Lowered resolution to 1080p, now getting much better at max settings (GTX-680), except for DoF and motion blur, they're both off. Seems to be bouncing between around 35-50 at the High Wall, but G-sync is staying up, so it's pretty smooth.

I'm noticing the stutters a lot more than I did before, though, that's definitely a thing. It's almost constant, and doesn't seem to coincide with the little saving icon in the corner, so I don't think it's anything to do with that. Loading? CPU bottleneck? (i7-2600K)

Been getting a nearly constant 60fps with a stutter here and there. Running all settings max except motion blur and dof which are always off in most games for me.

These are my specs, so I am concerned! Was hoping I could lock it to 30fps with most settings on high :(

I'll be annoyed if performance isn't better than PS4.

What driver you running? That's nearly my system exactly.

Downloading on Steam right now.

I'd think that's new enough -- check the DS4Windows log and make sure it doesn't say anything about "couldn't connect to AA:AA:AA:AA:AA in exclusive mode" or something like that. Also make sure your DS4Windows is up to date.

I solved it. I unplugged my fanatec pedals and DS4Windows is working know, it was in conflict. =D

Uhhh... this is really bad. Not performance per se, but the game has just shut off my entire computer twice in the Undead
Settlement
.

Has this happened to anyone else? Any ideas on what this could be? Help!
Nothing seems to be overheating, and I haven't had this problem at all before.

ALSO has anyone installed the newest AMD driver? Is it ok? Scared after those rogue NVIDIA drivers.

Specs: XFX Double D 290X, i5 4690k, 8GB DDR3 @1600, ASRock z97 Anniversary mobo, Rosewill RD600 PSU.

crashing non-stop for me now in firelink shrine, auto save right beside the bonfire.

Literally crashing as soon as the level loads.

After a restart and installation of latest nvidia drivers it seems to be fine in the first area after Firelink Shrine.

i'm playing with 50-60fps on 720p but often i get massive fps drops to around 30, mainly on Firelink Shrine. Crashed a couple times as well.

Yeah -- these are what I was talking about with the framerate tanking and the FPS counter showing values in the 30s/40s. It's absolutely game breaking for me when it happens, as it's USUALLY occuring in combat. When it happens outside of combat, I can deal with it, even if it's annoying, as it's not causing me to die. In combat it's unforgivable and unacceptable.

Sounds rough cause these games auto save a lot. Pretty much every time you do anything. Scared to even launch it for the first time after reading impressions. I have a 780 but haven't really updated my drivers in a while. Hope I don't experience crashes.

1080p/60 on high 99.9% of the time, absolutely fantastic performance. However, I'm also getting the second of freezing every time the game saves and it's extremely annoying, hoping for a quick patch.

Runs at locked 60fps on max settings, no drops that I have noticed. DS4 is working fine too without having to do anything special.

I've got an i7, 8gb of RAM and a 660m and I'm getting pretty lousy performance. I've had three crashes in the last half hour too. :(

I was really optimistic considering I was able to run DS2 at 1080p and 60fps.
