Pancake Mix

This is a ridiculous move and I'll go out on a limb and say that it will be a harder sell than Sony thinks. It's a New 3DS without any exclusive games, and considering it's a more expensive console rather than a handheld, ouch. This should not be a product that exists and it's just going to irritate early adopters such as myself. People who buy consoles and handhelds by and large want real upgrades, not incremental ones.
Not to mention the base PS4 can already handle 4k/30 FPS for some simple indie games with its power and HDMI configurations.
There was just no will from Sony to unlock that (after all they wanted you to buy a new unit in 3 years...), and with these new specs moderately more complex games will still hit nowhere near 4k, especially with the requirement that they meet or exceed the performance of the base unit.
Hmm, so just out of curiosity, something like Tales of Berseria would be grandfathered in as it released in Japan before the late September window of requiring a day one patch or the October window of requiring support built-in, regardless of when it releases outside Japan, correct?

It runs at native 1080p at 60 frames per second - but that's just the beginning of the story. Frozenbyte's impressive Trine 2 has migrated to PlayStation 4 in fine form - not only does it combine the optimal mix of resolution and frame-rate, but it's the only game to support stereoscopic 3D, running internally at an effective 1080p120 in the process. Indeed, according to the developer, Trine 2 could even hit 4K at 30fps should Sony ever unlock the output of the PS4 to support ultra-HD resolution.
