Street Fighter V - Guile trailer

I hope the 2nd hit of Guile's sweep isn't a true block string from the first one like it was in SF4. It's going to be so sweet parrying that thing with Ryu into full damage when brand new Guile players spam it day/week one.

so i guess it's confirmed guile's crouch walk can only store flash kick charge and not sonic boom charge?
makes more sense i guess, would be pretty OP if it can store sonic booms as well

Yes, because faultless walk is activated by down forward, so it can't store a back charge for boom.

Would be great if they did let them do that ala ST, and only during the df input (i.e. if you moved to just down or forwards you lose the stored charge for Boom).

Might be a little abstract & hard to explain to those unfamiliar with it though.

You could just focus the second hit in 4 though.
 
It's way, way harder to do "it's in the plane but it's not in the plane" shenanigans with 3D models than 2D sprites. It'd either need to be obviously (and obnoxiously) sitting there in the plane the fighters are on, or only trigger during corner finishes like the bus or something.

It could just work like the sign in the China Stage or the fruit stand in the Brazil stage.

It wasn't a block string in 4? You could focus the second one. As Dhalsim, you can Super punish after blocking the first hit.

It's actually not. Just like what is likely happening with other stage hit interactions (like the aforementioned sign in the China stage), you'd have an invisible volume that is on the same plane as the characters that you'd use to trigger the interaction. It's quite simple. Considering SFV uses 2D collision detection for attacks, it's probably functionally similar to how they handled stage interactions in their 2D games.

Some characters could straight up ultra between the two hits of it in 4. Definitely not a true blockstring lol

and i keep forgetting you can string the v-trigger in combos.

Which other characters in SFV can be considered turtles?

maybe they're not meant to be turtles, but people play them that way. mainly Nash and Ryu.
mhmhmh i wouldnt call them turtles but they do have a good keep away game.
 
I haven't looked into it too much, but does anyone know if Guile will be the first true charge character in the game, or will he have quarter circle moves?

how did you go through 7+ years of 4 not knowing it wasn't a true blockstring lol
 
I haven't followed this game much but my mind was just blown that he was not in the initial release of the game.
Why? They had a nice balance of new characters, returning classics, and characters we haven't seen in a while. Sagat, Akuma, Blanka, or Ehonda aren't in the game either lol
