Anyone else on the weekend night grind?

My hours right now are pretty shit and it's been messing with me. Currently 5:30pm - 6am over the weekends and every other Thursday. Because of this it's impacting my social life; makes it hard to hang out with friends or go out and do something when they all got more reasonable shifts.

Anyone else got this sort of setup that can relate? I mean, I can't complain too much because the pay is good and I do like my job but I guess i'm wondering how other people deal with it. Last week I spent a good chunk of the free time I got biking around and doing some disc golf when it was nice outside.

Yeap.

Tonight is my 5th of 7 12 hr nights.

The social side is a pain at times, but I like the time off too much.

I work mid shift, which is basically 10:30 -7. We go in Sunday night and get off Friday morning, and I sleep during the day, so I'm basically a social recluse now too. It makes planning things with friends hard. Tonight is technically my Saturday. It kinda sucks.

Bout to begin my midnight shift an about an hour. 12-8am, Saturday & Sunday.

The good thing is it's mostly dead around that time.

I'm working Sunday, which sucks because Monday is a public holiday.

Nearly got that 3 day weekend.

Edit: oh, nights? Nope. I don't work nights.

Can totally relate on the day-sleeping.. I gotta push myself to be up at noon if I wanna make use of the daytime, otherwise i'll end up rolling around til' like 4. Like i'm tired, but because it's bright out I end up not really falling asleep.

Nope, here's something that I wish more people would understand. Corporations suck, they give you shit hours and take away all your freedoms. Go freelance, do some sub contract work, start a small business, etc.

It pains me that so many people subject themselves to such poor treatment for the sake of money. It is not necessary, there is plenty of work that doesn't ask you to hand over your life.

Doing what I do it's not going to be easy to find a non-corporate job. I'm mainly hoping after putting in some time here i'll be able to move to a more reasonable shift once I have some seniority.

I am freelance. I subject myself to this for the sake of working 130 days a year.

Oh god, don't remind me. I've been working a lot of evening shifts which is 4pm to midnight, which sucks because I finish at midnight, maybe stay up til 4am, sleep til about noon and get up, and in a few short hours I have to leave for work. Since I didn't have any time in my day before work, I stay up even later (5, 6, even 7am) and wake up just as later and poof, back to work.

Basically I throw away any entire social life which kinda sucks.
