So I just had my game crash.... and I hadn't saved for awhile and I was crushed...
Then I realized that the auto save is wonderful!!
I'm sure its been discussed in this thread, but easily my favorite part of this port...

Short hair Garnet is the best Garnet.
I'm loving this rerelease to itty bitty pieces, the only real weird drawback was a glitch Steiner had during winning fight animations where his arm disappeared, but overall I'm so happy to play FFIX again. So many feel good moments, really one of the best in the series... Makes me wonder why they departed from the FFIX formula because it's damn near perfect![]()
I don't know, a lot of people seem to think that style of game is "obsolete", even though they can't say exactly why.
Because it looks "silly" to have realistic-looking characters lining up and taking turns hitting each other, and we can't have things being silly in our video games.
Someone made a tool to change fonts: https://github.com/Albeoris/Memoria
Future features:
- Import text
- Disable cheats
- Exit to main menu
- Export/import textures
- Redesign for battle menu
- Rewrite the game engine

I hope can edit the audio.
Ennemy have no scream death, that weird...
What drives me crazy is, you don't have to have the characters all just standing still in a row to have turn-based combat. You don't have to have random map encounters, or any of the other tropes people typically associate negatively with classic RPGs. But people lump all these together and say all of it's obsolete.
But yeah, even if you do have everyone standing in a row with modern graphics, so what? There are a million "silly" aspects of realistic-looking games that no one cares about. I wish Square or some other major studio would take it upon themselves to show people what can be done with a classic RPG with cutting-edge tech.
I don't remember them ever having death screams...
The latest version will correct the following issues. Please update your app.
- The fog effect on the world map causing the screen to turn white on devices with certain video cards.
- Dismounting a Chocobo near Chocobo's Forest causes the Chocobo to appear above the forest.
- Dismounting a Chocobo directly below Ipsen's Castle causes Zidane to freeze.
- During the ending, a portion of the subtitles overlap before the previous sentence has finished.
- Other minor bugs fixed.
There's a whooping 2,3GB patch that just went live earlier. No patch notes yet though.
Fascinating..
Edit: It's up.
Ayy..

Yes, please. Not playing this port until every background is redone like these.
Are you going to do such a thing? Because, wow, this is game changer.
Is there a cheat for Chocobo hot and cold? And for stealing? I've done 100% (minus Excalibur II) a few times before so I'd have no qualms about speeding up the process.
Press F1 and turn on Fast Forward for Chocobo Hot and Cold. You run and dig as super speeds, but the 60 second time will go down like normal. Makes it super easy to get 8 items almost all the time.
What do you mean by analog controls, the analog sticks? They're working for me.2 gigabytes of Chocobo fixes.
As much as I'd like to have analog controls, I don't expect them the patch them in. I'm not optimistic at all.
Good to know. Sometimes the luck would be so badly against you in that game lol. Still the best overall chocobo sidequests in the series though
The PS1 games (and, uhh, mouse controls here) allowed for full 360 controls. Here it's the same as playing on the PSP with the analog nub emulating a d-pad, ergo 8 directions only. Serviceable, it's not like playing a game like Mario 64 with D-Pad only, but it's not really something you want if you know there's a better option.Did someone find more of the original background art?

It's probably the movie fix. If it's baked into the FMV and part of a large file then there's only one solution: replacement. There has to be more than this in a 2.3GB update? Stealth fixes/additions?

Well, if someone release a tool to export/import backgrounds to the game, then yes, I'd work on a pack of upscaled backgrounds.

I would definitely kill for another classic-style FF like IX. With ATB, a "regular" fantasy world, overworld, static camera angles and all.
